Effects of sex on fat deposition through gut microbiota and short-chain fatty acids in weaned pigs

Nitrogen pollution resulting from excessive feed consumption poses a significant challenge for modern swine production. Precision nutrition technology seems to be an effective way to solve this problem;therefore, understanding the law of pig body composition deposition is a prerequisite. This study investigated the sex effects on growth performance, body composition, nutrient deposition, gut microbiota, and short-chain fatty acids(SCFA) in weaned piglets. Eighty weaned pigs were randomly allocated to 2 treatments according to the sex of pigs. An individual pig was considered as a treatment *** body weights(BW 5, 7, 11, 15, 20, and 25 kg) were chosen as experimental points; for each point 10piglets close to the average BW(5 males and 5 females) were slaughtered, and there was one growth phase between each 2 BW points. Results indicated that the males had higher average daily gain(ADG)and average daily feed intake(ADFI) compared to the females(P < 0.05) at growth phases 15 to 20 kg BW and 20 to 25 kg BW. Meanwhile, males at 20 kg BW had higher body fat content than females(P < 0.10).Males showed a higher body fat(P < 0.05) deposition rate at phase 15 to 20 kg BW(P < 0.05) than females. For pigs at 20 kg BW, the relative abundance of Ruminococcaceae UCG-005, Clostridium, Christensenellaceae＿R-7＿group, and Peptostreptococcaceae was significantly increased in males(P < 0.05) but that of Bifidobacterium was decreased(P < 0.05). At 25 kg BW, the relative abundance of Ruminococcaceae＿NK4A214＿group, Fibrobacter, Ruminococcaceae UCG-009, Ralstonia, Klebsiel, and Christensenellaceae＿R-7＿group in males was higher when compared with females(P < 0.05). In terms of SCFA, females exhibited higher concentrations of propionate compared to males(P < 0.05). In this study,we reported the discovery and structure-activity relationship analysis of chrysin derivatives as a new class of inhibitors targeting poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase 1(PARP1).Among these derivatives,compound 5d emerged as the most effective chrysin-based inhibitor of PARP1,with an IC50 value of 108 nmol·L^(-1).This compound significantly inhibited the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cell lines HCC-1937 and MDA-MB-436 by inducing DNA ***,5d induced apoptosis and caused an extended G1/S-phase in these cell *** docking studies revealed that 5d possesses a strong binding affinity toward *** vivo,in a xenograft model,5d effectively reduced tumor growth by downregulating PARP1 ***,compound 5d shows promise as a potential therapeutic agent for the treatment of BRCA wild-type breast cancer.

The thermochromic mechanism and the structure-property regulation principle of reversible thermochromic polydiacetylene(PDA)materials have always been a challenging *** this work,a series of diacetylene monomers(m-PCDA)containing phenyl and amide or carboxyl groups were synthesized from 10,12-pentacosadiynoic acid(PCDA)through the esterification or amidation *** effects of the number and the distribution of the functional groups in m-PCDA molecules on their solid-state polymerization capability,and the thermochromic mechanism of their corresponding polymers(m-PDA)were investigated and discussed in *** results show that the m-PCDA monomers containing both benzene ring and groups that can form hydrogen bonding interactions have strong intermolecular interaction,and are easy to carry out the solid phase polymerization under 254-nm UV irradiation to obtain the corresponding new thermochromic m-PDA *** thermochromic behavior of m-PDA depends on its melting *** initial color-change temperature(blue to red)is determined by the onset melting tem perature,and the temperature range in which reversible color recovery can be achieved by repeat heating-cooling treatment is determined by its melting *** to the proposed thermochromic mechanism of PDA,various new PDA materials with precise thermochromic temperatu res and reversible thermochromic temperature ra nges can be designed and synthesized through the appropriate introduction of benzene ring and groups that can form hydrogen bonding interactions into the molecular structure of linear diacetylene *** work provides a perspective to the precise molecular structure design and the property regulation of the reversible thermochromic PDA materials.

Bismuth vanadate(BiVO_(4))is a promising photoanode material for efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting,whereas its performance is inhibited by detrimental surface *** solve the problem,herein,a low-cost organic molecule 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid(BTC)is selected for surface passivation of BiVO_(4) photoanodes(BVOs),which also provides bonding sites for Co^(2+)to anchor,resulting in a Co-BTC-BVO *** to its strong coordination with metal ions,BTC not only passivates surface states of BVO,but also provides bonding between BVO and catalytic active sites(Co^(2+))to form a molecular *** study and interfacial charge kinetic investigation reveal that chemical bonding formed at the interface greatly suppresses charge recombination and accelerates charge *** obtained Co-BTC-BVO photoanode exhibits a photocurrent density of 4.82 mA/cm^(2) at 1.23 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE)and a low onset potential of 0.22 VRHE under AM 1.5 G illumination,which ranks among the best photoanodes coupled with Co-based *** work presents a novel selection of passivation layers and emphasizes the significance of interfacial chemical bonding for the construction of efficient photoanodes.

Effect and mechanism of Qingre Huashi decoction on drug-resistant Helicobacter pylori
