We developed a highly selective and efficient multicomponent transformation by utilizing alkynes and olefins/(hetero)arenes through photoinduced energy-transfer catalysis.The reaction involves the formation of three distinct chemical bonds,namely C(sp~3)–C(sp~2),C(sp~2)–C(sp~3),and C(sp~3)–N,in a single coordinated manner.The strategy used a vinyl radical-mediated radical relay approach under mild conditions,exhibiting a broad substrate scope(>70 examples),excellent functional-group tolerance,and remarkable regio-and anti-stereoselectivity.Through the utilization of a combination of experimental techniques and density functional theory(DFT),we delved deeper into the mechanistic intricacies of this distinctive system.Results revealed that the selective radical addition to electron-deficient alkynes,rather than olefins,was governed by the inherent reactivity of alkyl radicals.This discovery presented a highly effective approach for the synthesis of stereodefined multisubstituted alkenes.

Well production optimization is a complex and time-consuming task in the oilfield development.The combination of reservoir numerical simulator with optimization algorithms is usually used to optimize well production.This method spends most of computing time in objective function evaluation by reservoir numerical simulator which limits its optimization efficiency.To improve optimization efficiency,a well production optimization method using streamline features-based objective function and Bayesian adaptive direct search optimization(BADS)algorithm is established.This new objective function,which represents the water flooding potential,is extracted from streamline features.It only needs to call the streamline simulator to run one time step,instead of calling the simulator to calculate the target value at the end of development,which greatly reduces the running time of the simulator.Then the well production optimization model is established and solved by the BADS algorithm.The feasibility of the new objective function and the efficiency of this optimization method are verified by three examples.Results demonstrate that the new objective function is positively correlated with the cumulative oil production.And the BADS algorithm is superior to other common algorithms in convergence speed,solution stability and optimization accuracy.Besides,this method can significantly accelerate the speed of well production optimization process compared with the objective function calculated by other conventional methods.It can provide a more effective basis for determining the optimal well production for actual oilfield development.

AIM:To explore the photopic pupil size behavior in myopic children undergoing overnight orthokeratology(ortho-k)over 1-year period and its effects on the axial elongation.METHODS:A total of 202 Chinese myopic children were enrolled in this prospective clinical trial.Ninetyfive subjects in ortho-k group and eighty-eight subjects in spectacle group completed the 1-year study.Axial length(AL)was measured before enrollment and every 6mo after the start of ortho-k.The photopic pupil diameter(PPD)was determined using the Pentacam AXL and measured in an examination room with lighting of 300-310 Lx.Stepwise multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify variables contribution to axial elongation.RESULTS:Compared with spectacle group,the average 1-year axial elongation was significantly slower in the ortho-k group(0.25±0.27 vs 0.44±0.23 mm,P0.05,Bonferroni correction).The 4.81 mm PPD may be a possible cutoff point in the ortho-k group.Subjects with PPD below or equal to 4.81 mm tended to have smaller axial elongation compared to subjects with PPD above 4.81 mm after 1-year period(t=-3.09,P=0.003).In ortho-k group,univariate analyses indicated that those with older age,greater degree of myopia,longer AL,smaller baseline PPD(PPDbaseline)experienced a smaller change in AL.In multivariate analyses,older age,greater AL and smaller PPDbaseline were associated with smaller increases in AL.In spectacle group,PPD tended to be stable(P>0.05,Bonferroni correction)and did not affect axial growth.CONCLUSION:PPDs experience significantly decreases at 1-month and 3-month ortho-k treatment.Children with smaller PPD tend to experience slower axial elongation and may benefit more from ortho-k.

The regenerative capacity of the central nervous system is very limited and few effective treatments are currently available for spinal cord injury.It is therefore a priority to develop new drugs that can promote structural and functional recovery after spinal cord injury.Previous studies have shown that peptides can promote substantial repair and regeneration of injured tissue.While amphibians have a pronounced ability to regenerate the spinal cord,few studies have investigated the effect of amphibian spinal cord-derived peptides on spinal cord injury.Here we report for the first time the successful identification and isolation of a new polypeptide,VD11(amino acid sequence:VDELWPPWLPC),from the spinal cord of an endemic Chinese amphibian(Odorrana schmackeri).In vitro experiments showed that VD11 promoted the secretion of nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor in BV2 cells stimulated with lipopolysaccharide,as well as the proliferation and synaptic elongation of PC12 cells subjected to hypoxia.In vivo experiments showed that intravertebral injection of VD11 markedly promoted recovery of motor function in rats with spinal cord injury,alleviated pathological damage,and promoted axonal regeneration.Furthermore,RNA sequencing and western blotting showed that VD11 may affect spinal cord injury through activation of the AMPK and AKT signaling pathways.In summary,we discovered a novel amphibian-derived peptide that promotes structural and functional recovery after spinal cord injury.

The pyrolysis parameter S1,which indicates the amount of free hydrocarbons present in shale,is often underestimated due to hydrocarbon loss during sample handling and measurement processes.To remedy this issue,we strongly recommend an immediate three-step hydrocarbon thermal desorption(HTD)approach to be conducted on oil shale at the drilling site.This approach measures S_(g),S_(O),and S_(1)^(*),which refer to gaseous,light,and free hydrocarbons,respectively.The new shale oil content value,calculated from the total of these three parameters,is far more precise and reliable than traditional pyrolysis S1.Moreover,we thoroughly investigated the components and microscopic occurrence features of hydrocarbons thermally desorbed at three temperature stages using gas chromatography(GC)and X-ray microcomputed tomography(CT).For example,we selected Chang 7_(3)mud shale.Our experimental results irrefutably indicate that the ultimate shale oil content of poor resource rocks is significantly impacted by evaporative loss,with this effect being greater when the total organic carbon(TOC)is lower.Additionally,C_(1-5)and C_(1-7)hydrocarbons constitute almost all of S_(g)and S_(O),respectively.S_(g)and S_(O)are predominantly composed of C_(1-3)gaseous hydrocarbons,with a maximum proportion of 42.93%.In contrast,S_(1)^(*)contains a substantial amount of C_(16-31)hydrocarbons.A three-dimensional reconstruction model of an X-ray micro-CT scan shows that while the amount of shale organic matter greatly decreases from the frozen state to 300℃,the pore volume significantly increases,particularly between 90 and 300℃.The increased pore volume is mainly due to macropores and fractures.It is imperative to note that the shale oil triple-division boundaries must be adjusted based on more accurate oil content,although this would not affect the resource zones to which the samples already belong(ineffective,low-efficient,and enriched resources).In conclusion,we strongly advise conducting an immediate well-site analysis or utilizing preservation p

Objective GGC repeat expansions in the human-specific NOTCH2NLC gene have been reported as the cause of neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease(NIID).Given the clinical overlap of cognitive impairment in NIID and cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD),both diseases have white matter hyperintensity on T2-fluid attenuated inversion recovery sequences of brain MRI,and white matter hyperintensity is a primary neuroimaging marker of CSVD on MRI.Therefore,we hypothesised that the GGC repeat expansions might also contribute to CSVD.To further investigate the relationship between NOTCH2NLC GGC repeat expansions and CSVD,we performed a genetic analysis of 814 patients with the disease.Methods We performed a comprehensive GGC repeat expansion screening in NOTCH2NLC from 814 patients with sporadic CSVD.Their Fazekas score was greater than or equal to 3 points.Repeat-primed PCR and fluorescence amplicon length analyses were performed to identify GGC repeat expansions,and whole-exome sequencing was used to detect any pathogenic mutation in previously reported genes associated with CSVD.Results We identified nine(1.11%)patients with pathogenic GGC repeat expansions ranging from 41 to 98 repeats.The minor allele frequency of expanded GGC repeats in NOTCH2NLC was 0.55%.Conclusion Our findings suggest that intermediate-length and longer-length GGC repeat expansions in NOTCH2NLC are associated with sporadic CSVD.This provides new thinking for studying the pathogenesis of CSVD.

BACKGROUND Cutaneous metastases originating from pancreatic cancer are relatively rare. The most common reported site of metastasis is the umbilicus, and this manifestation is known as the Sister Mary Joseph's nodule. Non-umbilical cutaneous metastases are far less common, with only a few cases reported in the literature. Our case is the first case report, to our knowledge, on metastasis involving the labia majora and flat papules.CASE SUMMARY A 49-year-old Chinese female patient presented with a number of red, swollen papules on the vulva for 2 mo. Histological examination of the labia majora lesion revealed metastatic adenocarcinoma. The serum levels of tumor biomarkers CA199, CA242, and CA125 were significantly elevated. B-mode ultrasoundguided needle biopsy of the pancreas demonstrated moderately and poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. The patient finally declined treatment for financial reasons and died 3 mo later.CONCLUSION Metastatic cutaneous lesions could indicate pancreatic cancer. Serum levels of tumor biomarkers may aid in diagnosing metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

In this paper,we propose and experimentally demonstrate a method to realize a polarization detector by using a commercially available polymethyl methacrylate（PMMA） pipe.An asymmetric polarization-related structure is fabricated by etching different grating structures on the external surface of the pipe.The results show that when the pipe rotates up to 90°,the peak of the transmission spectrum can evidently shift towards the low frequency,which means the pipe with grating structures can serve as a polarization detector.This design possesses the merits of a simple structure and easy fabrication.

The double-activated porous carbons（DAPCs）with unique bimodal pore structure were prepared by activating commercial microporous carbon（CMCs） twice through KOH（double activation） at high temperature. The as-prepared DAPCs show larger surface area（833 m^2·g^-1）,and the pores are composed of micropores（size of-1.8 nm） and mesopores（size of -4.5 nm）. Such special hierarchical porous structures integrate the dual advantages of micropore and mesopore, having not only the high energy storage of the micropores but also the high-rate performance of the mesopores for supercapacitors（SCs）.As a result, the optimized DAPCs-3-1 exhibits a high specific capacitance of 277 F·g^-1 at 1 A·g^-1, enhanced rate performance of 197 F·g^-1 at a high current density of 10 A·g^-1, and excellent cycling stability with 94.2% capacity retention after 10,000 cycles in the 1 mol·L^-1 Na2SO4 electrolyte. The facile double activation could be a promising method to prepare suitable porous carbons with exceptional electrochemical properties for SCs.

A6111 is an aluminum alloy, which exhibits good formability and excellent bake hardening property. This study aimed to reveal the influence of strain path, pre-strain orientation （c0 as well as pre-strain level on the mechanical properties of A6111-T4P sheet under bake treatment through uniaxial tension test. （0-5）% pre-strain, 150-170 ℃ bake temperature and 20-30 min bake time were considered in the study by referring to the actual production process. The results show that both pre-strain level and strain path play significant roles in improving the material properties. In the condition that tensile orientation （β） parallel with pre-strain orientation （β= a）, the yield strength can be remarkably improved, and much higher parameter of n in Hockett-Sherby model can be obtained than those when tensile orientation non-parallel with pre-strain orientation （a≠ β）. In addition, when the pre-strain level, paint bake process were settled and β = a, the curves obtained in five tension orientations are similar in the plastic deformation stage.
