Straw return influences the structure and functioning of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal community in a rice-wheat rotation system

Straw return is a sustainable soil fertility-building practice,which can affect soil microbial ***,how straw return affects arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)is not well ***,we studied the impacts of different straw management treatments over eight years on the structure and functioning of AMF communities in a rice-wheat rotation *** straw management treatments included no tillage with no straw(NTNS),rotary tillage straw return(RTSR),and ditch-buried straw return(DBSR).The community structure of AMF was characterized using high-throughput sequencing,and the mycorrhizal functioning was quantified using an in situ mycorrhizal-suppression *** straw management treatments formed unique AMF community structure,which was closely related to changes in soil total organic carbon,available phosphorus,total nitrogen,ammonium,and *** compared with NTNS,RTSR significantly increased shannon diversity in 0–10 cm soil layer,while DBSR increased it in 10–20 cm soil layer;DBSR significantly increased hyphal length density in the whole ploughing layer(0–20 cm),but RTSR only increased it in the subsurface soil layer(10–20 cm).The mycorrhizal responses of shoot biomass and nutrient(N and P)uptake were positive under both straw return treatments(RTSR and DBSR),but negative under *** community composition of AMF was significantly correlated to hyphal length density,and the latter was further a positive predictor for the mycorrhizal responses of plant growth and nutrient *** findings suggest that straw return can affect AMF community structure and functioning,and farmers should manage mycorrhizas to strengthen their beneficial effects on crop production.

To evaluate the impact of different zinc application methods on yield and yield components of various wheat cultivars, a field experiment was carried out at Student’s Farm, Department of Agronomy, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, during winter 2014-2015. The experiment was laid out in RCBD (Randomized Complete Block Design) with factorial arrangement. In this experiment, all the treatments were replicated three times, using the net plot size of 1.8 m × 5.0 m. The experiment comprised of two factors. Factor A consists of two varieties: Faisalabad-2008 and Punjab-2011. While, Factor B consists of different methods of zinc application, control, zinc application in soil before planting 23 kg·ha-1, zinc foliar application, 4% ZnSO4 solution at two stages (tillering and stem elongation stage). The data regarding different parameters were collected and analyzed from the crop using standard procedures. Regarding the impact of zinc application method maximum plant height at maturity (103.6 cm), total number of tillers (564.67 m-2), spike length (10.83 cm), number of spikelets spike-1 (19.50), number of grains spike-1 (50.36), 1000-grain weight (34.16 g), biological yield (11.93 t·ha-1), grain yield (6.00 t·ha-1) and harvest index (39.25%) were recorded in treatment where zinc was applied both in the soil before planting and by foliar application on later growth stages. Similarly, grain zinc contents (33.11 mg·kg-1), grain protein contents (10.1%) and grain carbohydrate contents (64.23%) were also observed in the treatment where zinc was applied both in the soil before planting and by foliar application on later growth stages, which is better than all other treatments. In case of wheat varieties, Faisalabad-2008 performed better than Punjab-2011, with maximum method maximum total number of tillers (460.67 m-2), spike length (9.70 cm), number of grains spike-1 (48.80), 1000-grain weight (33.81 g), biological yield (10.32 t·ha-1), grain yield (5.0 t·ha-1) and harvest index

Evaluating the Intercropping of Millet with Cowpea for Forage Yield and Quality

A field study was scheduled to estimate the impact of intercropping of pearl millet with cowpea on forage yield and quality at Agronomy Research Farm, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. It was done in kharif season 2016. Randomized complete block design was used to conduct this experiment. It has three replications. The size of net plot is 3.6 m × 6 m. It comprised of five treatments (T1 = one row of millet alternating with one row of cowpea (1M:1C), T2 = two rows of millet alternating with one row of cowpea (2M:1C), T3 = one row of millet alternating with two rows of cowpea (1M:2C), T4 = sole millet, T5 = sole cowpea). We found that intercropping significantly effected the yield and quality of forage. Intercropping system had significant effects on nutritive value of forage crop. Within various treatments of intercropping, it is evident that treatment T2 (two rows of millet alternating with one row of cowpea) gives maximum total dry matter yield (9.68 t ha-1). It was then tracked by treatment T1 (one row of millet alternating with one row of cowpea) and treatment T3 (one row of millet alternating with two rows of cowpea) producing dry matter yield (9.07 t ha-1 and 8.33 t ha-1, respectively). Based on high grain and suitable environmental condition, intercrop productivity compared to sole crop could be selected for improving the productivity of millet/cowpea mixture in the Punjab.

Introduction:Hemorrhage control is the essence of trauma *** teaching is 1 on the floor(ie,external bleeding)and 4 more(thoracic cavity,abdomen,retroperitoneum,and long bones).In this case report,we present a unique case with concealed bleeding into the soft tissue compartment leading to *** case triggered to consider the soft tissue compartment as the sixth potential bleeding site in trauma patients in hemorrhagic *** presentation:We present the case with concealed bleeding into the soft tissue compartment posing a challenge in *** presentation,he had a pulse rate of 117 beats/min,a blood pressure of 90/60mmHg,and a Glasgow Coma Scale(GCS)score of *** resuscitation,the patient's blood pressure dropped to 70/46 mmHg with a GCS of 7 of *** was then intubated and ***-enhanced computed tomography of the torso revealed a right scapular fracture with a large soft tissue hematoma along the right side of the neck and chest wall,extending up to the right lumbar ***:We suggest that the soft tissue compartment is the sixth potential site of internal bleeding in trauma patients,which should not be overlooked after having ruled out the other 5 sites.

Improvement of plant performance under drought stress is crucial to sustaining agricultural *** current study investigated the ameliorative effects of foliar-applied kinetin,an adenine-type cytokinin(CK),on growth and gas exchange parameters,water relations and biochemical attributes of maize plants under drought ***-day-old maize plants were subjected to drought by maintaining soil moisture content at 25%field capacity for 8 days followed by foliar application of kinetin at 0,75,150 and 225 mg L^(−1)(CK0,CK75,CK150 and CK225,respectively)to the plants for two-times at the 9-day *** revealed that drought stress markedly reduced stem diameter,dry weight,chlorophyll content,gas exchange parameters and water balance but increased proline,malondialdehyde and soluble sugar contents,electrolyte leakage and senescence in maize *** of exogenous CK remarkably improved maize performance by modulating growth,gas exchange-and water relation-related parameters in a dose-dependent manner under drought ***225 increased chlorophyll content(by 61.54%),relative water content(by 49.14%),net photosynthesis rate(by 39.94%)and transpiration rate(by 121.36%)and also delayed leaf senescence but decreased internal CO_(2)concentration(by 7.38%),water saturation deficit(by 40.40%)and water uptake capacity(by 42.49%)in both well-watered and droughtstressed ***,CK application considerably decreased electrolyte leakage,proline,malondialdehyde and soluble sugar levels in drought-stressed maize plants,as also supported by heatmap and cluster *** together,exogenous CK at proper concentration(225 mg L^(−1))successfully improved maize performance under drought conditions,thereby suggesting CK application as a useful approach to alleviate drought-induced adverse effects in maize plants,and perhaps in other important crop plants.

Background: Pancreatic trauma (PT) accounts for less than 1% of all trauma admissions. Occasionally, PT is undetected during theprimary survey and becomes apparent only when complications arise. It occurs in up to 5% of blunt abdominal trauma cases and 12%of individuals with penetrating abdominal injuries. Management is determined by the status of the main pancreatic duct and ***: This was an ambispective study conducted at the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Center, All India Institute ofMedical Sciences,New Delhi, from January 2015 to December 2017 (retrospective), and January 2019 to December 2020 (prospective). In total, 113patients with PT were included in this ***:We analyzed the data of 113 patients with PT included in this study, of whichmales predominated (93.7%). Blunt PT was presentin 101 patients (89.4%) and penetrating PT in 12 patients (10.6%). Half of the patients (51.3%) had the American Association for theSurgery of Trauma grade III PT, followed by grade II (18.6%), and grade I (15%). Of the total 113 patients, 68 (60.2%) were treated withoperative management, and 45 (39.8%) with nonoperative management. Distal pancreatectomy, with or without splenectomy, was themost common procedure performed in our study, followed by drainage. There were 27 mortalities (23.8%) during the study period, ofwhich 7 were directly related to PT and 20 were due to other organ-related sepsis and hemorrhagic ***: Pancreatic trauma is rare but challenging for trauma surgeons, with persistent management controversies. Early diagnosisis important for favorable results;however, a delay in diagnosis has been associated with higher morbidity and mortality. Low-grade pancreaticinjuries can be successfully managed nonoperatively, whereas high-grade pancreatic injuries require surgical intervention.

Entropy Generation Optimization(EGO)attained huge interest of scientists and researchers due to its numerous applications comprised in mechanical engineering,air conditioners,heat engines,thermal machines,heat exchange,refrigerators,heat pumps and substance mixing ***,the study of radiative hybrid nanofluid(GO-MoS_(2)/C_(2)H_(6)O_(2)–H_(2)O)and the conventional nanofluid(MoS_(2)/C_(2)H_(6)O_(2)–H_(2)O)is conducted in the presence of Lorentz *** flow configuration is modeled between the parallel rotating plates in which the lower plate is *** models which govern the flow in rotating system are solved numerically over the domain of interest and furnished the results for the temperature,entropy generation and thermophysical characteristics of the hybrid as well as conventional nanofluids,*** is examined that the thermal profile intensifies against stronger thermal radiations and magnetic *** surface of the plate is heated due to the imposed thermal radiations and magnetic field which cause the increment in the *** is also observed that the temperature declines against more rotating ***,the entropy production increases for more dissipative effects and declines against more magnetized *** conductivities of the hybrid nanofluid enhances promptly in comparison with regular liquid therefore,under consideration hybrid nanofluid is reliable for the heat ***,dominating thermal transport is perceived for the hybrid nanofluid which showed that hybrid suspension GO-MoS_(2)/C_(2)H_(6)O_(2)–H_(2)O is better for industrial,engineering and technological uses.

Thermal transport investigation in colloidal suspensions is taking a significant research *** applications of these fluids are found in various industries,engineering,aerodynamics,mechanical engineering and medical sciences etc.A huge amount of thermal transport is essential in the operation of various industrial production *** is a fact that conventional liquids have lower thermal transport characteristics as compared to colloidal *** colloidal suspensions have high thermal performance due to the thermophysical attributes of the nanoparticles and the host ***,researchers focused on the analysis of the heat transport in nanofluids under diverse *** such,the colloidal analysis of H_(2)O composed byγAl_(2)O_(3)and Al_(2)O_(3)is conducted over an elastic *** governing flow models ofγAl_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O and Al_(2)O_(3)/H_(2)O is reduced in the dimensionless form by adopting the described similarity *** colloidal models are handled by implementing the suitable numerical technique and provided the results for the velocity,temperature and local thermal performance rate against the multiple flow *** the presented results,it is shown that the velocity of Al_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O increases promptly against a high Reynolds number and it decreases for high-volume *** significant contribution of the volumetric fraction is examined for thermal enhancement of *** temperature of Al_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O andγAl_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O significantly increases against a higherϕ.Most importantly,the analysis shows thatγAl_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O has a high local thermal performance rate compared to Al_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)***,it is concluded thatγAl_(2)O_(3)–H_(2)O is a better heat transfer fluid and is suitable for industrial and technological uses.
