In the medical profession,recent technological advancements play an essential role in the early detection and categorization of many diseases that cause mortality.The technique rising on daily basis for detecting illness in magnetic resonance through pictures is the inspection of humans.Automatic(computerized)illness detection in medical imaging has found you the emergent region in several medical diagnostic applications.Various diseases that cause death need to be identiﬁed through such techniques and technologies to overcome the mortality ratio.The brain tumor is one of the most common causes of death.Researchers have already proposed various models for the classiﬁcation and detection of tumors,each with its strengths and weaknesses,but there is still a need to improve the classiﬁcation process with improved efﬁciency.However,in this study,we give an in-depth analysis of six distinct machine learning(ML)algorithms,including Random Forest(RF),Naïve Bayes(NB),Neural Networks(NN),CN2 Rule Induction(CN2),Support Vector Machine(SVM),and Decision Tree(Tree),to address this gap in improving accuracy.On the Kaggle dataset,these strategies are tested using classiﬁcation accuracy,the area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)curve,precision,recall,and F1 Score(F1).The training and testing process is strengthened by using a 10-fold cross-validation technique.The results show that SVM outperforms other algorithms,with 95.3%accuracy.

Entrepreneurship training:its influences on innovation potentials among nursing students

Objective:To evaluate the influences of entrepreneurship training on the innovation potential among nursing students.Methods:A quasi-experimental design was utilized to conduct this study.The study was conducted in the classroom at the faculty of nursing,and the“i Hub”center at Ain shams University(ASU)in Cairo,Egypt.A purposive sample of 42 nursing students who participated in the“Ain shams University-innovate”competition from the Faculty of Nursing of ASU were included in this study.Data collection tools included(1)Nursing students'innovation skills assessment questionnaire and(2)Innovative projects evaluation tool.Results:There was a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of nursing students'total innovation skills pre-and post-implementation of entrepreneurship training,where P-valueurrent study support the research hypothesis because the implementation of entrepreneurship training positively affects nursing students'innovation potential.Developing entrepreneurship education in nursing and integrating it into nursing programs will stimulate creativity,innovation,and entrepreneurship among nursing students and health care services.

Hydrothermal synthesis and characterization of carbon-doped TiO2 nanoparticles

We report the hydrothermal growth of pure and doped TiO2 nanoparticles with different concentrations of carbon.The microstructure of the as-synthesized samples is characterized by x-ray diffraction(XRD),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy(EDX),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the structure and composition.The XRD patterns confirm the formation of anatase phase of TiO2 with the average crystallite size is calculated to be in the range of 13 nm to 14.7 nm.The functional groups of these nanostructures are characterized by Fourier transformed infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,which further confirms the single anatase phase of the synthesized nanostructures.UV-visible absorption spectroscopy is used to understand the absorption behavior,which shows modification in the optical bandgap from 3.13 eV(pure TiO2)to 3.74 eV(1.2 mol%C-doped TiO2).Furthermore,the Ti^3+centers associated with oxygen vacancies are identified using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(EPR).

Numerical investigation of transitions in flow states and variation in aerodynamic forces for flow around square cylinders arranged inline

This study focuses on the transitions in flow states around two-, three-and four-inline square cylinders under the effect of Reynolds numbers at two different gap spacing values using the lattice Boltzmann method. For this purpose, Reynolds number is varied in the range 1–130 while two different values of spacing taken into account are gap spacing =2 and 5. Before going to actual problem, the code is tested for flow around a single square cylinder by comparing the results with experimental and numerical results of other researchers, and good agreement is found.The current numerical computations yield that for both spacing values and all combinations of cylinders there exist three different sates of flow depending on Reynolds numbers: steady state, transitional state and unsteady state. It is found that the range of Reynolds numbers for these flow states is different for both spacing values. At gap spacing =2 the range of Reynolds numbers for each flow state decreases by increasing the number of cylinders while at gap spacing =5 opposite trend is observed. The results also show that at gap spacing =2 the reduction in drag force is greater than the corresponding reduction at gap spacing =5. The maximum reduction in drag force is observed at Reynolds numbers =1 at both spacing values. Similarly, at both spacing values and all Reynolds numbers, the maximum reduction in drag force is observed for the case of four-inline square cylinders.

Objective:Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women,causing significant mortality in the world,which contributed 11.7%to the overall cancer-related mortality in Afghanistan.In 2018,3062 new breast cancer cases were reported accounting for 29.7%of all cancers in women in the country.However,a comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic system is lacking in Afghanistan.In this paper,we reported the implementation of a project aiming to establish a comprehensive breast cancer center in Herat province of Afghanistan.Methods:From July 2017,a two-year-program initiated at Kimia Hospital in Herat.This first free diagnostic and therapeutic breast cancer project planned by the Afghanistan Surgeons Society-West and the Verein für Afghanistan-Förderung e.V.,as well supported by three international foundations.The target populations of this project were women presenting with breast problems at Kimia Hospital in Herat and healthcare staff involved in breast cancer diagnosis and management.Results:A group of six medical personnel chosen to represent the breast cancer core team for breast cancer diagnosis and management were trained in India.These caregivers established the breast cancer service and tumor board.During a period of 20 months,a total of 632 women with breast problems presented to Kimia Hospital of whom 44(7.0%)were diagnosed with breast cancer.Diagnosis was established by a physical examination,ultrasonography,mammography,biopsy and histopathology.Treatment included surgery,radiotherapy and chemotherapy.Twelve seminars for 512 healthcare workers,1000 brochures and a movie were prepared for awareness-raising actions.For continuation of this project,potential resource providers were identified.A database was developed to record project findings.Conclusion:Implementation of this comprehensive breast cancer project resulted in significant achievements in healthcare staff capacity building,diagnosis and management of breast cancer patients in Herat province.Data obtained in this project offer Afghan government,publ

Evaluation of the 8th AJCC staging system for pathologically versus clinically staged pancreatic adenocarcinoma: A time to revisit a dogma?

Background: The 8 th edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer(AJCC) staging system for pancreatic exocrine adenocarcinoma has been released. The current study seeks to assess the 7 th and 8 th editions among patients registered within the surveillance, epidemiology and end results(SEER) database.Methods: SEER database(2010–2013) has been accessed through SEER*Stat program and AJCC 8 th edition stages were reconstructed utilizing the collaborative stage descriptions. Kaplan–Meier analysis of overall survival and pancreatic cancer-specific survival analyses(according to both 7 th and 8 th editions and according to whether pathological or clinical staging were conducted) has been performed. Multivariate analysis of factors affecting pancreatic cancer-specific survival was also conducted through a Cox proportional hazard model.Results: A total of 18 948 patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma were identified in the period from 2010–2013. Pancreatic cancer-specific survival among pathologically staged patients and according to the 8 th edition showed significant differences for all pair wise comparisons among different stages(P urvival according to the 7 th edition among pathologically staged patients showed significant differences for all pair wise comparisons among different stages(P urgery), the prognostic performance of both 7 th and 8 th stages for both overall survival and pancreatic cancer-specific survival was limited.Conclusion: There is clearly a need to have two staging system

Hepatitis C comorbidities affecting the course and response to therapy

Several studies have demonstrated that the outcome of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) infection is profoundly influenced by a variety of comorbidities. Many of these comorbidities have a significant influence on the response to antiviral therapy. These comorbidities negatively affect the course and outcome of liver disease, often reducing the chance of achieving a sustained virological response with PEGylated interferon and ribavirin treatments. Comorbidities affecting response to antiviral therapy reduce compliance and adherence to inadequate doses of therapy. The most important comorbidities affecting the course of CHC include hepatitis B virus coinfection, metabolic syndrome, and intestinal bacterial overgrowth. Comorbidities affecting the course and response to therapy include schistosomiasis, iron overload, alcohol abuse, and excessive smoking. Comorbidities affecting response to antiviral therapy include depression, anemia, cardiovascular disease, and renal failure.

Leishmaniasis is a vector-borne parasitic neglected tropical disease caused by a group of about 30 different species of the genus Leishmania.It is transmitted by the bite of female phlebotomies sand fly.Three main clinical manifestations of leishmaniasis include cutaneous,visceral,and mucocutaneous leishmaniasis.Visceral leishmaniasis(VL)caused by Leishmania donovani,is an infection of reticuloendothelial system and fatal if untreated.Cholesterol,a sterol that is prominent in the mammalian cell membranes whereas stigmasterol and ergosterol are more prevalent in plants,yeast,and protozoa,respectively.Ergosterols which is absent in human being,is an important constituent of parasite membrane.Sterol C-24 reductase(LdSR)enzyme catalyzes the final step in the ergosterol biosynthesis pathway.The inhibition of biosynthesis of ergosterol may lead to decreased cell viability and growth.Here,we performed the molecular docking-based virtual screening of a library of natural ligands against LdSR to identify a potential inhibitor to fight leishmaniasis.Capsaicin,prenyletin,flavan-3-ol,resveratrol,and gingerol showed the top binding affinity towards LdSR.Based upon ADME properties and bioactivity score,gingerol showed the best lead-likeness and drug-likeness properties.Hence,we further annotated its leishmanicidal properties.We found that gingerol inhibited the growth and proliferation of promastigotes as well as intra-macrophagic amastigotes.Gingerol exerted its antileishmanial action through the induction of reactive oxygen species(ROS)in concentration-dependent manner.Gingerol induced ROS led to apoptosis.Overall,this study described that gingerol would act as possible inhibitor to LdSR.

Hepatitis C virus induced insulin resistance impairs response to anti viral therapy

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is an important risk factor for insulin resistance (IR). The latter is the pathogenic foundation underlying metabolic syndrome, steatosis and cirrhosis, and possibly hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The interplay between genetic and environmental risk factors ultimately leads to the development of IR. Obesity is considered a major risk factor, with dysregulation of levels of secreted adipokines from distended adipose tissue playing a major role in IR. HCV-induced IR may be due to the HCV core protein inducing proteasomal degradation of insulin receptor substrates 1 and 2, blocking intracellular insulin signaling. The latter is mediated by increased levels of both tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (SOC-3). IR, through different mechanisms, plays a role in the development of steatosis and its progression to steatohepatitis, cirrhosis and even HCC. In addition, IR has a role in impairing TNF signaling cascade, which in turn blocks STAT-1 translocation and interferon stimulated genes production avoiding the antiviral effect of interferon.
