Nanostructures: Enhancing Potential Applications in Biomedicals

Nanotechnology is defined as the study and application of 1 - 100 nm sized structures. Nanomaterials have opened avenues for the industries and scientific endeavors. These recognized for unique size, dependant physical and chemical properties (optical, magnetic, catalytic, thermodynamic, electrochemical) [1]. Most significant properties of nanoparticles is their carbon strength. It is said to be so tough that recently with a nano-sized particles i.e. carbon nanotube—a bullet proof T-shirt/vests was manufactured. Nanotechnology were firstly proposed/initiated by Nobel Prize winner Richard Feynman in 1959 [2]. This science is credited to have applications ranging from electronics, biomedicals, food, fuel cells to biosensors and even fabrics. Though every field of science progressing but still faces some lacunae and that result in development of a new technology. The thriving biomedical techniques for disorders like cancers etc. is still in developmental stage where researchers and doctors are working hard for concrete therapeutic results from such nano-techniques. On Cancers, the harmful side effects of its treatment like chemotherapy can’t be left aside which is result of one of its drug delivery methods that don’t pinpoint their intended target cells accurately rather affects whole area. Researchers in universities like Harvard and MIT have been able to attach special RNA strands, measuring about 10nm in diameter, to nanoparticles and fill the nanoparticles with a chemotherapy drug. The RNA strands get attracted to cancer cells. When the nanoparticle encounters a cancer cell it adheres to it and releases the drug into the cancer cell. This directed method of drug delivery has great potential for treating cancer patients while producing less side harmful effects than those produced by conventional chemotherapy [3]. Compact analytical model for single gate AlInSb/InSb high electron mobility transistors

We have developed a 2D analytical model for the single gate AllnSb/lnSb HEMT device by solving the Poisson equation using the parabolic approximation method. The developed model analyses the device perfomance by calculating the parameters such as surface potential, electric field distribution and drain current. The high mobility of the AlInSb/InSb quantum makes this HEMT ideal for high frequency, high power applications. The working of the single gate AllnSb/InSb HEMT device is studied by considering the variation of gate source voltage, drain source voltage, and channel length under the gate region and temperature. The carrier transport efficiency is improved by uniform electric field along the channel and the peak values near the source and drain regions. The results from the analytical model are compared with that of numerical simulations （TCAD） and a good agreement between them is achieved.

Building a Machine Learning-based Ambulance Dispatch Triage Model for Emergency Medical Services

Background:In charge of dispatching the ambulances,Emergency Medical Services(EMS)call center specialists often have difficulty deciding the acuity of a case given the information they can gather within a limited *** there are protocols to guide their decision-making,observed performance can still lack sensitivity and *** learning models have been known to capture complex relationships that are subtle,and well-trained data models can yield accurate predictions in a split of a ***:In this study,we proposed a proof-of-concept approach to construct a machine learning model to better predict the acuity of emergency *** used more than 360,000 structured emergency call center records of cases received by the national emergency call center in Singapore from 2018 to *** were created using call records,and multiple machine learning models were ***:A Random Forest model achieved the best performance,reducing the over-triage rate by an absolute margin of 15%compared to the call center specialists while maintaining a similar level of under-triage ***:The model has the potential to be deployed as a decision support tool for dispatchers alongside current protocols to optimize ambulance dispatch triage and the utilization of emergency ambulance resources.

Novel CMS lines in pigeonpea[Cajanus cajan(L.)Millspaugh]derived from cytoplasmic substitutions,and their effective restoration and deployment in hybrid breeding

The availability of stable cytoplasmic male sterile(CMS or A) lines coupled with a robust restoration system(R lines) is an essential prerequisite for efficient hybrid ***-enabled hybrid technology holds immense potential to enhance the long-stagnant productivity of pigeonpea. In the present investigation, cytoplasmic substitutions were made in the nuclear backgrounds of early-maturing pigeonpea varieties or lines. Three new CMS lines(ICPL 88039 A, Pusa 992 A, and DPP 3-2A) resulted from genetic crosses involving cytoplasmic donors from A2(GT 288A) and A4(ICPA 2089) categories. In addition to visual inspection of anthers, pollen-staining techniques and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analysis were used to confirm pollen sterility. Further, given the relevance of the plant mitochondrial genome to CMS manifestation, 25 mitochondrion-specific DNA markers were assayed on these newly developed A lines and isogenic maintainer(B) lines. DNA polymorphism between Pusa 992 A and Pusa 992 B as revealed by the nad7a_del marker confirmed the successful combination of sterilizing cytoplasm(A4) and nonrestoring nuclear background(Pusa 992). Such cytoplasm-specific DNA markers are required for A2-CMS as well. Further, to assess restoration ability, potential restorers were crossed with these CMS lines, and as a consequence, promising A × R combinations exhibiting 100%pollen fertility could be identified. In parallel, we also analyzed the inheritance patterns underlying fertility restoration using ICPL 88039A-derived F2 and BC1F1populations,and established a monogenic dominant model to explain the phenomenon of A2-CMS restoration. In summary, we report the successful development of new CMS lines and describe their effective deployment in hybrid breeding of pigeonpea.

Molecular Docking Studies of Myricetin and Its Analogues against Human PDK-1 Kinase as Candidate Drugs for Cancer

Phosphoinositide-dependent protein kinase-1 (PDK1), the class of serine threonine kinase, is a master regulator of the AGC family of kinases. It is a main component of the PI3K pathway. As it is reported that this pathway is most commonly, and this pathway is the most commonly deregulated among many cancers. So designing a selective inhibitor of PDK1 may have the efficacy as an anticancer agent. Herein, we describe our work focused on the structure based on screening of 95% similar analogues of Myricetin deposited in PubChem database as earlier studies have been suggested that myricetin acts as an anti cancer agent. Further molecular docking as well as the in silico ADMET studies are incorporated on these compounds to evaluate the binding and pharmacokinetic properties of these compounds. Due to low oral bioavailability, clinical use of myricetin is limited. Therefore this study is an attempt towards screening of structurally similar better compounds as compare with myricetin which can act as better inhibitor against PDK-1.

Clinical pregnancy rate of women with unexplained infertility with or without cervical mucus aspiration before intrauterine insemination: A randomized controlled trial

Objective:To detect effect of removing cervical mucus before performing intrauterine insemination(IUI)on pregnancy rate in patients with unexplained ***:The randomized controlled trial was conducted in Infertility Division of Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of a tertiary care *** 80 patients of unexplained infertility were *** computer generated block randomization in block size of 4 and 6,patients were randomly allocated at time of starting ovarian stimulation into the cervical mucus removal group or the non-removal of cervical mucus group before IUI,40 in each *** stimulation with clomiphene 100 mg from day 2-6 of menstrual cycle along with human menopausal gonadotropin 150 IU was given alternate day starting from day *** monitoring was done and further doses given as per response;trigger was planned when 1-3 follicle reach a diameter of>18 *** was planned after *** was done as per the group *** cleaning was done in the cervical mucus removal group by aspirating mucus with IUI syringe and sterile cotton swab before *** primary outcome was clinical pregnancy *** of difficult IUIs and cycle cancellation due to ovarian hyperstimulation were also ***:IUI was not done in 4 patients due to *** per IUI cycle occurred in 7.9%(3/38)in the cervical mucus removal group and 21.1%(8/38)in the non-removal of cervical mucus *** was no statistically significant difference in clinical pregnancy rate between two groups(P=0.19).Conclusions:There is a trend towards a lower clinical pregnancy rate with removal of cervical mucus before IUI in women of unexplained infertility though the difference is not statistically *** studies with large sample size need to be done on this intervention.

Enhancement in QoS for Hybrid Networks Using IEEE 802.11e HCCA with Extended AODV Routing Protocol

The mobile ad hoc network (MANET) with infrastructure networks (hybrid networks) has several practical uses. The utility of hybrid network is increased in real time applications by providing some suitable quality of service. The quality thresholds are imposed on parameters like end-to-end delay (EED), jitter, packet delivery ratio (PDR) and throughput. This paper utilizes the extended ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) routing protocol for communication between ad hoc network and fixed wired network. This paper also uses the IEEE 802.11e medium access control (MAC) function HCF Controlled Channel Access (HCCA) to support quality of service (QoS) in hybrid network. In this paper two simulation scenarios are analyzed for hybrid networks. The nodes in wireless ad hoc networks are mobile in one scenario and static in the other scenario. Both simulation scenarios are used to compare the performance of extended AODV with HCCA (IEEE 802.11e) and without HCCA (IEEE802.11) for real time voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. The extensive set of simulations results show that the performance of extended AODV with HCCA (IEEE 802.11e) improves QoS in hybrid network and it is unaffected whether the nodes in wireless ad hoc networks are mobile or static.

Multiplier Design Utilizing Tri Valued Logic for RLNS Based DSP Applications

Residue Number System (RNS) has proved shaping the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) units into highly parallel, faster and secured entities. The computational complexity of the multiplication process for a RNS based design can be reduced by indulging Logarithmic Number System (LNS). The combination of these unusual number systems forms Residue Logarithmic Number System (RLNS) that provides simple internal architectures. Till date RLNS based processing units are designed for binary logic based circuits. In order to reduce the number of input output signals in a system, the concept of Multiple Valued Logic (MVL) is introduced in literature. In that course of research, this paper uses Tri Valued Logic (TVL) in RLNS technique proposed, to further reduce the chip area and delay value. Thus in this research work three different concepts are proposed, it includes the design of multiplier for RLNS based application for number of bits 8, 16 and 32. Next is the utilization of TVL in the proposed multiplication structure for RLNS based system along with the error correction circuits for the ternary logarithmic and antilogarithmic conversion process. Finally the comparison of the two multiplication schemes with the existing research of multiplier design for RNS based system using booth encoding concepts. It can be found that the proposed technique using TVL saves on an average of about 63% of area occupied and 97% of delay value respectively than the existing technique.

In this paper we derive finite forms of the summation formulas for bilateral basic hypergeometric series 3ψ3,4ψ4 and 5ψ*** therefrom obtain the summation formulae obtained recently by Wenchang CHU and Xiaoxia *** applications of these summation formulae,we deduce the well-known Jacobi’s two and four square theorems,a formula for the number of representations of an integer n as sum of four triangular numbers and some theta function identities.
