Magnesium alloys have many advantages as lightweight materials for engineering applications,especially in the fields of automotive and *** undergo extensive cutting or machining while making products out of *** cutting,a sustainable machining method,causes more friction and adhesion at the tool-chip *** of the promising solutions to this problem is cutting tool surface texturing,which can reduce tool wear and friction in dry cutting and improve machining *** paper aims to investigate the impact of dimple textures(made on the flank face of cutting inserts)on tool wear and chip morphology in the dry machining of AZ31B magnesium *** results show that the cutting speed was the most significant factor affecting tool flank wear,followed by feed rate and cutting *** tool wear mechanism was examined using scanning electron microscope(SEM)images and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS)analysis reports,which showed that at low cutting speed,the main wear mechanism was abrasion,while at high speed,it was *** chips are discontinuous at low cutting speeds,while continuous at high cutting *** dimple textured flank face cutting tools facilitate the dry machining of AZ31B magnesium alloy and contribute to ecological benefits.

The recent article by Liang et al. （2011）, pub- lished in Journal of Zhejiang University-SCIENCE B （Biomedicine ＆ Biotechnology）, is highly interesting. Interestingly, the past few years have seen the in- creasing application of berbamine as an anti-cancer agent in other systemic malignancies besides chronic myeloid leukemia. For instance, berbamine administration alters the Bcl-2/Bax ratio and mitigates cell migration and thereby augments the anti-proliferative ability of trichostatin A in non-small cell lung cancers （Duan et al., 2010）. Similarly, berbamine inhibits p65 trans- location, up-regulates A20 and increases the activa- tion of the GADD45/c-Jun N-terminal kinase （JNK） pathway, thereby enhancing cellular apoptosis in multiple myelomas （Liang et al., 2009a; 2009b）. Similarly, alteration of the nuclear factor-kappa B （NF-~B） pathway results in enhanced apoptosis in lymphomas （Duet al., 2010）.

Energy harvesting(EH)technology in wireless communication is a promising approach to extend the lifetime of future wireless networks.A cross-layer optimal adaptation policy for a point-to-point energy harvesting(EH)wireless communication system with finite buffer constraints over a Rayleigh fading channel based on a Semi-Markov Decision Process(SMDP)is *** adaptation strategies in the literature are based on channeldependent ***,besides considering the channel,the state of the energy capacitor and the data buffer are also involved when proposing a dynamic modulation policy for EH wireless *** the channeldependent policy,which is a physical layer-based optimization,the proposed cross-layer dynamic modulation policy is a guarantee to meet the overflow requirements of the upper layer by maximizing the throughput while optimizing the transmission power and minimizing the dropping *** on the states of the channel conditions,data buffer,and energy capacitor,the scheduler selects a particular action corresponding to the selected modulation ***,the packets are modulated into symbols according to the selected modulation type to be ready for transmission over the Rayleigh fading *** are used to test the performance of the proposed cross-layer policy scheme,which shows that it significantly outperforms the physical layer channel-dependent policy scheme in terms of throughput only.

I have read with great interest the recent article ＂A meta-analysis of association between acne vulgaris and Demodex infestation＂ by Zhao et al. （2012）, published in Journal of Zhejiang University SCIENCE B （Biomedicine ＆ Biotechnology）（another two articles by Zhao et al. （2011a; 2011b） are also related to Demodex infestation）. The article is highly thought provoking. Interestingly, Demodex infestation may be associated with a number of other facial dermatological lesions besides ache vulgaris.

This work systematically investigates the microstructure-property relationship in Mg alloys. Emphasis is placed on understanding, through high resolution crystal plasticity modeling, how grain size and texture collectively impact material strengthening and hardening, net plastic anisotropy, and tension-compression asymmetry. To achieve this, 528 fully three-dimensional finite element calculations are performed, which comprise eleven textures, four grain sizes, six loading orientations, and two uniaxial loading states(tension and compression). The grain size effect follows Hall-Petch relation that depends on both, loading orientation and initial texture. The reduction in extension twinning with grain size refinement is influenced by texture as well. Below a threshold textural strength, grain size refinement leads to an appreciable reduction in the net plastic anisotropy at yield, quantified using Hill anisotropy, and reduced tension-compression asymmetry. Using a micromechanical basis, the effect of grain size and texture on material ductility is predicted to be non-monotonic. The computational predictions serve as synthetic data sets for experimental validation and reduced-order modeling.
