The factors selected to optimize the productivity of Pleurotus flabellatus biomass in 250ml working volume Erlenmeyer flask were agitation rate, initial pH value and incubation temperature. The central composite design was applied to study the significant factors and the interactions between the chosen factors, if present. The Design Expert software generated 20 runs. The optimized conditions obtained were as follows: the agitation rate of 129.8 rpm, incubation temperature at 27.8°C, and initial pH of 6.06. The optimized conditions tripled the productivity at the range of 980 - 1040 mg/litre/day compared to the initial rate productivity at 310 mg/litre/day. From the quadratic equation,the agitation rate, temperature and the interaction between agitation rate and temperature were found to be significant (p < 0.05). At optimum conditions, the experimental data supported the theoretical estimate.

Four local mushroom species, viz. Auricularis polytricha, Lentinus edodes, Agrocybe sp and Pleurotus flabellatus were grown under submerged culture and screened for endopolysaccharides. The fermentation was done in 250 ml working volume Erlenmeyer flask and the fermentation curves for all species were established. Pleurotus flabellatus has the highest rate of biomass production at the rate of 0.180 g/L/day, at 10 days hence chosen for further investigation. Two additional media, viz. Mushroom Complete Media (MCM) and Yeast Malt (YM) were selected to be compared with potato extract(PE) media used initially. MCM media produced the highest biomass productivity at the rate of 0.311 g/L/day. Pleurotus flabellatus biomass was extracted using modified Mizuno method and the endopolysaccharide obtained was tested for β-glucan. The yield of β-glucan was 7.70 ± 1.11 g/100g. The polysaccharides were purified using column chromatography to yield four fractions. The fourth fraction F4, gave the highest molecular weight at 3.058 × 106 Dalton (11.8%) and 1.282 × 104 Dalton (88.2%). The mushroom, P. flabbelatus was cultured using air-lift bioreactor, and the highest productivity was obtained at air-flowrate 2 L/min, yielding 2.25 g/L/day. The yield of biomass against substrate used (glucose consumption) Yb/s was 0.78 g/g.

This study investigated the bending,compression as well as the bonding performance of CLT panels made from fast-growing timber species,i.e.,Laran(Neolamarckia cadamba)and Batai(Paraserianthes falcataria).The variables studied were timber species(Laran and Batai),layers of lamination(3-layer and 5-layer),loading direction in bending(in-plane and out-of-plane),loading direction in compression(x-,y-,and z-axis)and different treatment conditions for bonding performance *** desired outputs of this study were bending and compression properties(strength and stiffness)as well as bonding performance(block shear strength,wood failure percentage and delamination value).The bending and compression test were conducted according to EN16351:2015 and EN408:2012,*** the other hand,the bonding performance test was determined by block shear and delamination test based on EN16351:2015 and EN14374:2004,*** to block shear test,the samples were subjected to three different treatment *** results showed that CLT made from 3-layer Laran timber,loaded at out-of-plane direction exhibited the highest bending ***,CLT made from 5-layered Batai timber,loaded at in-plane direction showed the lowest bending *** samples for compression loaded at x-axis exhibited the best compressive ***,Laran CLT showed greater bonding performance determined by shear test compared to Batai CLT for both 3-and 5-layer *** the contrary,delamination results showed that Batai CLT demonstrated better bonding performance compared to Laran *** terms of bonding performance measured by wood failure percentage(WFP),most samples under various treatment conditions showed WFP≥80%except for samples under wet condition with WFP≤60%.

The depth adjustment factor for bending strength stated in Eurocode 5(EC5)is only applicable to timbers having a characteristic density below 700 kg/m^(3).However,most Malaysian timbers are hardwood,some with a characteristic density reaching above 700 kg/m^(3).Therefore,the objective of this study was to examine whether the depth adjustment factor stipulated in EC5 is valid for Malaysian hardwood *** timber species were selected for this study,namely Kapur(Dryobalanops ***.),Kempas(Koompassia Maingay ex Benth.),Keruing(Dipterocarpus ***.),Light red meranti(Shorea *** ***.),Geronggang(Cratoxylum Blume)and Balau(Shorea *** ***.).The determination of bending strength and characteristic density was conducted according to BS EN 408:2010 and BS EN 384:2016,respectively.A graph for mean bending strength vs.(150/h)was plotted for each timber *** power function was selected to analyze the relationship between the two *** power of the regression equations varied depending on the characteristic density of the timber *** species with a characteristic density below 700 kg/m^(3),such as Kapur,Keruing,and Light red meranti,the power was between 0.16 to *** contrast,for species having a characteristic density above 700 kg/m^(3),namely Kempas and Balau,the power was higher at 0.23 and 0.24,*** was an exception to this *** values are close to the depth adjustment factor given in EC5,which is *** on the results,it can be suggested that the adjustment factor of 0.2 is also applicable to Malaysian hardwood timbers with a characteristic density above 700 kg/m^(3).

Objective: Hypoactive Sexual Desire is characterized as a lack or absence of sexual fantasies and desire for sexual activity. The current study examines the effects of psycho-physiological therapy (stretch therapy combined with breathing exercise) on the sexual desire among heterosexual men. Methods: We used “convenience sampling” for this research;80 people were recruited. For collection of data, we used an identical quasi-experimental design called “nonequivalent control group.” Therapy sessions each lasting (20) 90 to 120 min were carried out on 3 alternate days of week. The volunteers have been selected from heterosexual men with stable relationship, those who married minimum of 6 months, within 20 to 55 years old, who attended to HUSM Family Clinic. Pre-tests, post-tests, and follow-up tests were conducted in a HUSM clinic (Malaysia). For assessment we used Hurlbert Index of Sexual Desire (HISD). Results: The psycho-physiological group had better post-test scores compared to the control group. Also follow-up test scores were marginally better compared to the control group, but this difference did not reach statistical significance. Also age and education level of participants didn’t have any significant effect on this intervention. Conclusion: Psycho-physiological combined therapy including stretching and breathing exercise appears to result in better improvement in sexual desire compared to control group but this improvement is not great. It increases sexual desire of heterosexual men, whenever people follow the therapy.

Pueraria mirifica(PM)has traditionally been used to relieve postmenopausal ***,its extract has been developed into various cosmetic products to promote skin rejuvenation and *** study investigated the phytochemicals of PM tuber and compared between the tuber flesh and its outer *** which is one of the major isoflavones and being considered as the marker compound was used to determine the presence of PM extract in local cosmetic *** could be ionized by a mass spectrometer at both negative and positive *** peak ionized at the negative mode showed to have a narrower peak width(0.2 min)and higher signal-to-noise ratio(30)for pueararin(1 mg/L).The results also found PM extract contained many C-and O-glycosylated isoflavones,especially from its peel *** explains the peel extract showed to have four times higher antiradical activity than those of flesh *** from the cosmetic products was recovered via successive methanolic sonication and followed by liquid-liquid extraction using ethyl *** was successfully partitioned from the highly complex chemical mixture of cosmetic products with the recovery ranged from 89.1%to 115%.Hence,isoflavones was found to be higher at the outer peels than its tuber flesh.A simple and reliable method has been developed to analyse the presence of PM extract in cosmetic products based on the detection of puerarin after successive extraction via methanolic sonication and ethyl acetate partition.

Introduction: Acromioclavicular (AC) joint dislocation is a common shoulder injury, comprising 9% - 12% of shoulder girdle injuries. Optimal management remains challenging, with treatment decisions guided by the Rockwood classification system. Controversies surround grade III injuries, necessitating further classification. Non-operative treatment has shown favorable outcomes, while surgical interventions vary. Anatomical coracoclavicular reconstruction (ACCR) has demonstrated biomechanical advantages over traditional methods. Arthroscopic techniques offer advantages, minimizing deltoid detachment and allowing concurrent pathology identification. This study evaluates the outcomes of arthroscopic-assisted ACCR in chronic AC joint dislocation. Surgical Technique: Arthroscopic-assisted ACCR involves meticulous portal placement, tendon graft harvesting, diagnostic arthroscopy, and coracoid exposure. The clavicle tunnels were made to mimic the conoid and trapezoid ligament positions, using FibreTape#2 loop and Dog Bone Button for correct placement against the coracoid base, and passing the semitendinosus graft through to reconstruct the conoid ligament, reduction done and graft follow through for anatomical reconstruction. Methods: A retrospective cohort study at Hospital Kuala Lumpur analyzed 35 patients undergoing arthroscopic-assisted ACCR for Rockwood grade III - V AC joint dislocations. Inclusion criteria encompassed trauma ≥ 3 weeks prior, no prior shoulder injuries, and ≥12-month follow-up. Functional and radiological assessments utilized ASES scores and coracoclavicular distances, respectively. Statistical analysis employed descriptive statistics and logistic regression. Results: The mean age was 38.9 years (SD 11.26), and 34 of 35 patients were male. Grade IV injuries were predominant (37.1%). Waiting time for surgery averaged 234.9 days. Detection of liquid mixture of different volume ratio is very important in industrial purposes. The paper reports a sensing mechanism of binary liquid mixture for different volume fraction, based on the measurement of refractive index of the mixture. Here, a highly sensitive liquid filled core Photonic Crystal Fiber structure has been proposed to detect liquid mixture solution. Numerical investigation of the proposed structure is carried out by employing full vectorial Finite Element Method (FEM).
