Developing a robust correlation for prediction of sweet and sour gas hydrate formation temperature

There are numerous correlations and thermodynamic models for predicting the natural gas hydrate formation condition but still the lack of a simple and unifying general model that addresses a broad ranges of gas mixture.This study was aimed to develop a user-friendly universal correlation based on hybrid group method of data handling(GMDH)for prediction of hydrate formation temperature of a wide range of natural gas mixtures including sweet and sour gas.To establish the hybrid GMDH,the total experimental data of 343 were obtained from open articles.The selection of input variables was based on the hydrate structure formed by each gas species.The modeling resulted in a strong algorithm since the squared correlation coefficient(R2)and root mean square error(RMSE)were 0.9721 and 1.2152,respectively.In comparison to some conventional correlation,this model represented not only the outstanding statistical parameters but also its absolute superiority over others.In particular,the result was encouraging for sour gases concentrated at H2S to the extent that the model outstrips all available thermodynamic models and correlations.Leverage statistical approach was applied on datasets to the discovery of the defected and doubtful experimental data and suitability of the model.According to this algorithm,approximately all the data points were in the proper range of the model and the proposed hybrid GMDH model was statistically reliable.

In this paper,we address the complex problem of dock-door assignment and truck scheduling within cross-docking operations.This is a problem that requires frequent resolution throughout the operational day,as disruptions often invalidate the optimal plan.Given the problem's highly combinatorial nature,finding an optimal solution demands significant computational time and resources.However,the distribution of data across problem instances over a lengthy planning horizon remains consistently stable,with minimal concern regarding distribution shift.These factors collectively establish the problem as an ideal candidate for a learn-to-optimize solution strategy.We propose a Dantzig-Wolfe reformulation,solving it via both a conventional branch-and-price approach and a neural branch-and-price approach,the latter of which employs imitation learning.Additionally,we introduce some classes of valid inequalities to enhance and refine the pricing problem through a branch-and-cut scheme.Our computational experiments demonstrate that this methodology is not only feasible but also presents a viable alternative to the traditional branch-and-price algorithms typically utilized for such challenges.

Short circuit analysis of a fault-tolerant current-limiting high temperature superconducting transformer in a power system in presence of distributed generations

Power transformers are key elements for the safe and reliable delivery of electrical energy generated by renewable energy resources to consumers via transmission lines.Fault‐tolerant current‐limiting High Temperature Superconducting(FTCL HTS)transformers are type of superconducting transformers that tolerate fault for seconds and limit the fault current without the threat of burnout or delamination of tapes and deformation of windings.In this paper,the fault performance of a FTCL HTS transformer in a standard IEEE power system is investigated.The studied transformer is a 50 MVA 132 kV/13.8 kV transformer where both windings are made up of HTS tapes.The understudied power system consists of two microgrids with distributed generators.Part of the power in microgrids is supplied by the upstream grid which is connected to the microgrids through the HTS transformers.Two fault scenarios have been considered in this power system,in each one of these scenarios,a fault happens in one of the microgrids.Two considered fault scenarios have an approximate fault current of 18x to 23x of the rated current in the secondary windings.Results showed that insulated windings in FTCL HTS transformers could substantially reduce the peak temperature of the HTS windings,compared to bare windings.Afterwards,post‐fault loading is imposed on the HTS windings,to observe their performance against the current increase after fault clearance.In this case,for the first scenario of the faults,the FTCL HTS transformer could tolerate 192%of post‐fault overloading,while this number for the second fault scenario is 170%.Finally,the impact of post‐fault loading on the full recovery time was discussed.

Adapted European seabass(Dicentrarchus labrax L.)larvae at 25 days post-hatching(dph)with a primary weight and length of 23 mg and 9.92 mm,start the weaning up to 46 dph using the weaning micro-diet(54%crude protein from fish meal,powder milk,and poultry egg)concurrently with Artemia enriched with fortification emulsions(0.6 g/L)of DHA selco®as a control group(DHAS)or Fish oil+20%Vitamin C(FOVC),or Fish oil+20%Vitamin E(FOVE),or Fish oil+10%Vit.C+10%Vit.E(FOCE),or Fish oil only(FO).At 46 dph,groups of larvae fed enriched Artemia with DHAS and FOVE exhibited the highest final body weight,weight gain,average daily gain,specific growth rate,feed intake,protein efficiency ratio,and survival%as well as the lowest feed conversion ratio.Meanwhile,larvae in FOVC displayed the lowest final body weight,total length,weight gain,average daily gain,specific growth rate,feed intake,protein efficiency ratio,and survival%as well as the highest feed conversion ratio.Gastrointestinal histological assessment exhibited no pathological alteration as well as an improvement in the structure with DHAS,FOVE,FOVC,and FOCE co-additives compared to FO.Glutathione peroxidase enzyme(GPx)recorded the highest rates(P<0.05)in groups fed Artemia supplemented with DHAS and FOVE followed by FOCE and FOVC.While the lowest record for GPx activity was noted in the FO group.In conclusion,Using augmented Artemia nauplii with fish oil+vitamin E in single or in companion with vitamin C as cheap antioxidants support D.labrax larval growth,survival,and antioxidant efficacy during the critical weaning period.

The Influence of Rice Husk Ash on Mechanical Properties of the Mortar and Concrete: A Critical Review

Increasing the population and infrastructure in both emerging and developed countries requires a considerable amount of cement, which significantly affects the environment. The primary materials of concrete (‘cement’) production emit a large quantity of CO2 into the environment. Also, the cost of conventional building materials like cement gives motivation to find geopolymer waste materials for concrete. To reduce harmful effects on the environment and cost of traditional concrete substance, alternative waste materials like rice husk ash (RHA), ground granulated blast-furnace (GGBS), fly ash (FA), and metakaolin (MK) can be used due to their pozzolanic behavior. RHA waste material with a high silica concentration obtained from burning rice husks can possibly be used as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM) in the manufacturing of concrete, and its strong pozzolanic properties can contribute to the strength and impermeability of concrete. This review paper highlights a summary of the positive effect of using RHA as a partial substitute for cement in building construction, as well as its optimal inclusion of enhanced mechanical properties like compressive strength, flexural strength, and split tensile strength of mortar and concrete.

Dissemination of carbapenem-non-susceptible Acinetobacter baumannii isolates collected from educational hospitals in Qazvin province of Iran

Background:Acinetobacter baumannii(A.baumannii)is known as an opportunistic pathogen related to health-care-associated infection that has a high antibiotic resistance potential,notably against carbapenems that are widely used to combat A.baumannii infections.This study aimed to detect oxacillin-hydrolyzing(OXA)carbapenemases and metallo-β-lactamases(MBL)among carbapenem-resistant A.baumannii isolated strains and to determine their clonal relationship by repetitive extragenic palindromic PCR(rep-PCR).Methods:In the present study,a total of 211 non-repetitive isolates of A.baumannii were collected from Qazvin educational hospitals(2016–2017).The disk diffusion method was used to investigate the antibiotic susceptibility of studied strains,followed by the detection of MBL and OXA-type genes using polymerase chain reaction(PCR)and sequencing methods.The rep-PCR method assessed the clonal relationship of carbapenem-non-susceptible A.baumannii isolates.Result:The obtained results showed that 87.2%and 86.7%of isolates were non-susceptible to imipenem and meropenem.The blaOXA-24(93.5%)was the most frequent gene,followed by the blaOXA-23(4.34%),blaIMP-1(1.63%),and blaVIM-1(0.54%).Meanwhile,blaOXA-58 and blaOXA-143 genes were not found.81.5%and 66.1%of isolates contained ISAba1 upstream of the blaOXA-23 and blaOXA-58 genes,respectively.Rep-PCR results revealed the carbapenem non-susceptible isolates belonged to three distinct clones:A 171(81%),B 34(16.1%),and C 6(2.8%).Conclusions:The results indicated a high prevalence of carbapenem-non-susceptible A.baumannii,with the emergence of the blaOXA-24 gene as the most common gene and the notable prevalence of MBL genes.These results revealed the need for appropriate therapeutic and infection control strategies and monitoring susceptibility patterns for controlling A.baumannii infections.

Despite modern medicine’s advancements,age-related neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease remain challenging due to high costs,side effects,and limited accessibility.Ayurveda,a traditional Indian medicine system,offers Kadha tea as a potential herbal option.This review explores Kadha’s components(basil(Ocimum basilicum L.),black pepper(Piper nigrum L.),Cinnamon(Cinnamomum verum J.Presl),ginger(Zingiber officinale Roscoe),and raisin(Vitis vinifera L.))and their interaction with various neurological disorders.Studies suggest Kadha exhibits anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,and antiviral properties,potentially impacting Alzheimer’s disease,Parkinson’s disease,neurotoxicity,neuroinflammation,and brain trauma.By focusing on specific disease mechanisms and Kadha’s intergrade effects,this review aims to elucidate its potential role in managing age-related neurological disorders.

Effects of multipass friction stir processing and Mg addition on the microstructure and tensile properties of Al 1050 alloys

The effects of multipass friction stir processing(FSP)and Mg powder addition on the different microstructure parts,including the stir zone(SZ),heat-affected zone(HAZ),and thermomechanically affected zone(TMAZ)of Al 1050 alloy were investigated.Microstructural observations revealed that with the increase in the number of FSP passes,the grain size of the SZ decreased in the non-composite and composite samples,whereas that of the TMAZ and HAZ increased in the non-composite sample.Furthermore,the addition of Mg powder resulted in considerable grain refinement,and increasing the number of the FSP passes resulted in a more uniform distribution of Al-Mg intermetallic compounds in the in-situ composite sample.Results of the tensile test showed that the non-composite sample that underwent four passes of FSP exhibited a higher elongation percentage and a ductile fracture in comparison with those of the base metal and the composite sample.However,this sample exhibited a brittle fracture and a higher tensile strength in comparison with the base metal and the non-composite sample.The fabrication of composite samples resulted in a remarkable enhancement in hardness in comparison with the base metal and the non-composite samples that underwent FSP.

Hydrothermal analysis of non-Newtonian fluid flow(blood)through the circular tube under prescrib e d non-uniform wall heat flux

The present article aims to investigate the Graetz-Nusselt problem for blood as a non-Newtonian fluid obeying the power-law constitutive equation and flowing inside the axisymmetric tube subjected to nonuniform surface heat flux.After the flow field is determined by solving the continuity and the momentum equations,the energy equation is handled by employing the separation of variables method.The resulting Eigen functions and Eigen values are numerically calculated using MATLAB built-in solver BVP4C.The analysis is first conducted for the situation of constant heat flux and subsequently generalized to apply to the case of sinusoidal variation of wall heat flux along the tube length,using Duhamel’s Theorem.Furthermore,an approximate analytic solution is determined,employing an integral approach to solve the boundary layer equations.With respect to the comparison,the results of approximate solution display acceptable congruence with those of exact solution with an average error of 7.4%.Interestingly,with decreasing the power-law index,the discrepancy between the two presented methods significantly reduces.Eventually,the influences of the controlling parameters such as surface heat flux and power-law index on the non-Newtonian fluid flow’s thermal characteristics and structure are elaborately discussed.It is found that switching from constant wall heat flux to non-uniform wall heat flux that sinusoidally varies along the tube length significantly improves the simulation’s accuracy due to the better characterization of the heat transport phenomenon in non-Newtonian fluid flow through the tube.In the presence of sinusoidally varying wall heat flux with an amplitude of 200 W/m 2 and when the power-law index is 0.25,the maximum arterial wall temperature is found to be about 311.56 K.

Predictors of recurrent bile duct stone after clearance by endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography:A case-control study

Background:Recurrent common bile duct(CBD)stone is a long-term sequalae among patients who un-derwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)with CBD stone extraction.Data regard-ing risk factors for recurrent CBD stone are scarce.We aimed to identify predictors of recurrent CBD stone.Methods:We performed a retrospective case-controlled study from January 2010 to December 2019.In-clusion criteria included patients who had recurrent CBD stone at least 6 months after the index ERCP,in which complete stone extraction was performed and normal cholangiogram was obtained.Overall,457 patients were included.Forty-two patients(9.2%)had recurrent CBD stone,and 415 patients(90.8%)did not have recurrent CBD stone.Results:In univariate analysis,male sex[odds ratio(OR)=0.49,P=0.033]was a protective factor,while endoscopic stone extraction by basket vs.balloon(OR=2.55,P=0.005),older age(OR=1.03,P=0.003),number of CBD stones(OR=1.99,P=0.037),size of CBD stone(OR=4.06,P=0.003)and mechanical lithotripsy(OR=9.22,P=0.004)were risk factors for recurrent CBD stone.In multivariate logistic regression analysis,mechanical lithotripsy[OR=9.73,95%confidence interval(CI):1.69-55.89,P=0.010],basket clearance vs.combined basket and balloon(OR=18.25,95%CI:1.05-318.35,P=0.046)and older age(OR=1.02,95%CI:1.00-1.05,P=0.023)were risk factors,and male sex(OR=0.39,95%CI:0.19-0.81,P=0.012)was a protective factor.
