A well-known adsorbent, poly(am.doxim.)ligand, was prepared from.polyacrylonitrile(PAN) grafted kenaf cellulose, and subsequent characterization was perform.d by Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field em.ssion scanning electron m.croscope(FESEm. and inductively coupled plasm. m.ss spectrom.try(ICP-m.).The adsorption capacities of the prepared ligand for rare earth m.tals are found to be excellent, with adsorptions of La^(3+), Ce^(3+), Pr^(3+), Gd^(3+) and Nd^(3+) experim.ntally determ.ned to be 262, 255, 244, 241 and 233 m.·g^(-1), respectively, at pH 6. The experim.ntal values of the adsorption of rare earth m.tals are well m.tched with the pseudosecond-order rate equation. The reusability of the adsorbent is exam.ned for seven cycles of sorption/desorption,dem.nstrating that the proposed adsorbent could be reused for over seven cycles without any significant loss in the original rem.val capability of the ligand.

The fluorine-substituted benzoate ester rod-shaped liquid crystals containing an azobenzene side chain linked with term.nal double bonds were synthesized and *** m.sophase and photoswitching properties were determ.ned by polarizing optical m.croscopy（POm.,differential scanning calorim.try（DSC） and UV-visible *** rod-shaped com.ound 4a having an odd num.er of carbon atom. in the alkyl chains exhibits nem.tic phase and Sm. type phase whereas com.ound 4b having an even num.er of carbon atom. showed only nem.tic *** fluorinecontaining com.ounds 4c and 4d showed only Sm. type *** photoswitching properties of these com.ounds showed a rate of trans to cis isom.rization ranging 19-20 s,whereas reverse process took around 230 m.n in *** m.terials m.y be ideal in the field of optically rewritable applications where both on and off rates should be crucial.

In this paper, novel m.them.tical expressions are derived for the Global Positioning System.(GPS) receiver interference tolerance in the presence of different types of interference signals such as: continuous wave interference, narrowband interference, partial band interference, broadband interference, m.tch spectrum.interference and pulse interference. Also, in this paper the m.an tim. to loss lock is determ.ned in order to analyse the m.ntioned interferences effect on the GPS receiver. These derived analytical expressions are validated with the aid of extensive sim.lation experim.nts.

Early after prim.ng, effector CD8 T cells are distinguished into m.m.ry precursor and short-lived effector cell subsets （m.ECs and SLECs）. Here, we delineated a distinct in vivo heterogeneity in killer cell lectin-like receptor G1 （KLRG-1） expression, which was strongly associated with diverse m.EC and SLEC fates. These in vivo m.ECs and SLECs expressed equivalent levels of cytotoxic m.lecules and effector cytokines. Using a unique in vivodegranulation assay, we found that the m.ECs and SLECs sim.larly encountered infected target cells and elaborated equivalent levels of cytotoxicity in vivo. These data provide direct in vivoevidence that m.m.ry-fated ceils pass through a robust effector phase. Additionally, the preferential localization of the m.ECs in the lym.h nodes, where a lesser degree of cytotoxicity was elaborated, suggests that the m.ECs m.y be protected from.excessive stim.lation and term.nal differentiation by virtue of their differential tissue localization. These data provide novel m.chanistic insights into the linear decreasing potential m.del of m.m.ry differentiation.

Lanthanide-ion im.rinted polym.rs（L-IIPs） were synthesized by stoichiom.tric am.unts of rare earth ions and the cavities in the polym.rs were created for the corresponding lanthanide ions. The m.xim.m.sorption capacities were estim.ted to be 125.3, 126.5, 127.6, 128.2 and 129.1 m./g for Pr, Nd, Sm. Eu and Gd, respectively at p H 6. In the selectivity study, the L-IIPs exhibited good selectivity to the specific rare earth ions in the presence of coexisting cations. The im.rinting results were found to be excellent with som. rare earth ions over other com.etitor rare earth ions with the sam. charges and close ionic radius.

UV-C irradiation critically effects the growth of m.cro-fungi and also deteriorate leather m.terials. In the present study vegetable tanned and chrom. tanned leather were infected with pure cultures of Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus, which were isolated from.stored leather m.terials. UV-C light (λ = 254 nm. was applied on infected leather for 15 and 60 m.n. The changes in leather qualities were exam.ned through weight, tensile strength, scanning electron m.croscope, energy dispersive X-ray and Fourier transform.infrared spectroscopy study after 15 and 30 days of fungal inoculation. Vegetable tanned leather was m.re vulnerable in case of fungal attack than chrom. tanned leather while A. flavus showed m.re influence on leather deterioration than A. niger. The results showed that weight loss after 30 days for 15 and 60 m.n irradiation exposure was 1.3% com.ared to A. flavus infected leather (3.93%). The tensile strength of vegetable and chrom. tanned UV irradiated leather was increased by 44% and 7% respectively. The scanning electron m.croscopic im.ges exhibit the lim.ted presence of conidiophores in UV-C exposed leather which confirm.d the potentiality of irradiation for controlling fungal growth. The infrared spectral analysis of UV-C exposed infected leather sam.les showed neither shifting of wavenum.er nor displacem.nt of any functional groups. Alto-gether the efficacy of UV-C irradiation against biodeterioration of leather was concluded to be effective. This m.thod can be used to control fungal growth without com.rom.sing the leather quality.

The safe recycling of fly ash (FA) and sewage sludge (SS) in the agricultural processes com.rises an im.ortant environm.ntal technology on waste m.nagem.nt. Soils am.nded with FA and SS m.y change their ability to adsorb heavy m.tals due to either increase of soil pH or decom.osition of sludge-borne organic m.tter. Thus, Cd and Pb sorption was investigated by 1-m.nth incubation under soil m.isture content at field capacity and room.tem.erature with an acidic Typic Haploxeroalf from.central Greece am.nded with varying am.unts of FA and SS. Batch experim.nts were conducted by equilibrating the soil sam.les with CaCl2 solutions containing 0-400 m. Pb L-1 or 0-100 m. Cd L-1. The results showed that the Freundlich equation described well the Cd and Pb sorption. Distribution coefficient (Kd) values of Pb were higher than those of Cd in all the treatm.nts of this study. Application of FA increased Kd values for Cd and Pb to 8.2 and 2.3 tim.s m.re than the controls, respectively. Sim.ltaneous applications of FA and SS caused a Kd increase of 3.8 and 2.1 tim.s com.ared to the treatm.nts that received only SS for Cd and Pb, respectively. Treatm.nt of SS alone did not significantly change Cd and Pb sorption com.ared to the controls. The sorption reactions seem.d to be m.inly affected by soil pH, which was revealed by the significant correlations of Cd and Pb sorption with soil pH. These suggested that fly ash was very useful as a low-cost adsorbent for Cd and Pb and could be used as an am.liorant for biosolid-am.nded acidic soils.
