A new polyglycerol phthalate extractant was prepared and characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, proton nuclear magnetic resonance(~1H NmR) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. A preliminary study of the extraction of long-lived(^(90) Sr and ^(152+154)Eu) and short-lived(^(90) Y) radionuclides by polyglycerol phthalate was performed. The influence of different diluents, concentration of the acid, type of acid, and various interfering ions was explored. The stripping of ^(152+154)Eu radionuclide was studied by using different acid solutions, and it was found that sulfuric acid was the ideal acid for this purpose. Furthermore,^(152+154)Eu was extracted from the fission products(^(90) Sr) and the extraction% of^(90) Sr was found to improve in the presence of interfering ions.

Electromigration in porous media is enhanced by a new type of electrokinetic processing. Compared with a single -oriented electric field, a continuously reoriented electric field was proven to sharply enhance mass transport of several heavy metals in kaolin. The initial concentration of the metals was: Cd: 250 mg/kg; Cu: 250 mg/kg; Ni: 250 mg/kg; Zn: 900 mg/kg. Electric field reorientation was obtained by the use of a fixed anode and a cathode that rotated at different frequencies (0, 0.25, 1.00, 1.25, 2.00, 5.00 and 10.00 r/m). mass transport evidently increased from 0 r/m to 1.25 r/m, and then decreased as the rotation speed reached 10 r/m. From 0 r/m to 1.25 r/m, mass transport increased 2.87 times for Cd, 3.17 times for Cu, 2.11 times for Ni, and 4.13 times for Zn. We suggest that continuous reorientation of the electric field facilitates the advance of ions through kaolin pores, minimizing the retardation effect caused by media tortuosity.

The last decade shows an explosion of using social media,which raises several challenges related to the security of personal files including *** challenges include modifying,illegal copying,identity fraud,copyright protection and ownership of *** digital watermarking techniques embed digital information inside another digital information without affecting the visual quality for security *** this paper,we propose a hybrid digital watermarking and image processing approach to improve the image security ***,variants of the widely used Least-Significant Bit(LSB)watermarking technique are merged with a blob detection algorithm to embed information into the boundary pixels of the largest blob of a digital *** proposed algorithms are tested using several experiments and techniques,which are followed by uploading the watermarked images into a social media site to evaluate the probability of extracting the embedding *** results show that the proposed approaches outperform the traditional LSB algorithm in terms of time,evaluation criteria and the percentage of pixels that have changed.

Combustion within small motors is key in the application-specific development of nanothermite-based micro-energetic systems. This study evaluates the performance of nanothermite mixtures in a converging-diverging nozzle and an open tube. mixtures were prepared using nano-aluminum(n-Al),potassium perchlorate(KClO_(4)), and different carbon nanomaterials(CNms) including graphene-oxide(GO), reduced GO, carbon nanotubes(CNTs) and nanofibers(CNFs). The mixtures were packed at different densities and ignited by laser beam. Performance was measured using thrust measurement,high-speed imaging, and computational fluid dynamics modeling, respectively. Thrust, specific impulse(ISP), volumetric impulse(ISV), as well as normalized energy were found to increase notably with CNm content. Two distinctive reaction regimes(fast and slow) were observed in combustion of low and high packing densities(20% and 55%TmD), respectively. Total impulse(IFT) and ISPwere maximized in the 5%GO/Al/KClO_4 mixture, producing 7.95 m N·s and 135.20 s respectively at 20%TmD, an improvement of 57%compared to a GO-free sample(5.05 m N·s and 85.88 s). CFD analysis of the motors over predicts the thrust generated but trends in nozzle layout and packing density agree with those observed experimentally;peak force was maximized by reducing packing density and using an open tube. The numerical force profiles fit better for the nozzle cases than the open tube scenarios due to the rapid nature of combustion. This study reveals the potential of GO in improving oxygenated salt-based nanothermites,and further demonstrates their applicability for micro-propulsion and micro-energetic applications.

Background and Aims:This study serves to revisit the effects of liver transplantation(LT)on employment in an era of improving survival outcomes post-transplant,and to identify areas of improvement in the transplant process to better optimize post-LT employment and patient ***:Prospectively,patients who had undergone LT at a single tertiary LT center were surveyed in person and by *** outcomes included employment rate pre-and post-LT,annual salary,weekly hours worked,barriers to re-employment,and patient ***:Responses were collected and analyzed from 121 patients who underwent ***-LT,68(56.1%)reported full-time employment,13(10.7%)part-time employment,and 40(33.1%)***-LT,26(21.4%)reported continued full-time employment,18(14.9%)part-time employment,and 77(63.6%)*** weekly work hours decreased post-LT(16.1 h/week vs.39.9 h/week).mean annual salaries decreased post-LT(17 earning salary≥$40,000 vs.56 earning salary≥$40,000).These outcomes differed from patient pre-LT expectations,with 81.0%of previously employed patients believing they would return to employment,resulting in decreased patient *** working physically demanding jobs pre-LT were less likely to return to *** cited for lack of return to full employment included early fatigue and difficulty regaining physical ***:Re-employment rates remain low post-LT,which is particularly true for patients working physically active *** is a significant barrier to re-employment and increased physical rehabilitation post-LT may prove to be *** should be given realistic expectations about return to employment prior to their LT.

AIm： To observe the imbalance between T helper cell Th1 and Th2 cytokines in several chronic hepatitis disease at different stages of disease progression. mETHODS： We measured the cytokine levels of Thl （IL-2 and IL-2R）, Th2 （IL-10） and the pro-inflammatory cytokines （IL-6 and IL-6R and TNF and TNF-RI and II） by the ELISA technique in the sera of 33 hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） patients and 20 chronic liver disease （CLD） patients. In addition, 20 asymptomatic hepatitis C virus carriers and 20 healthy subjects negative for hepatitis C virus（HCV） markers served as controls. RESULTS： Anti-HCV antibodies were found to be positive in 94% of HCC cases and 75% of CLD cases. On the other hand, HCV viremia was detected using RT- PCR in 67% of HCC cases and 65% of CLD cases. HBsAg was positive in 9% of HCC cases and 30% of CLD cases. Also bilharziaI-Ab was positive in 55% of HCC cases, 65% of CLD cases and in 70% of asymptomatic carriers （ASC）. HCC patients had significantly higher values of IL- 2R, TNF-RII （P〈0.001）, and TNF-RI （P〉0.05）, but lower TNFα （P〈0.001） and IL-6 （P = 0.032） in comparison to ASC. But, in comparison to non-cancer controls, HCC patients had higher values of IL-2R, IL-6R, TNF-RI and TNF-RII, but lower TNF-α （P〈0.001）. CLD patients had higher IL-2R, TNF-RI, and TNF-RII （P〈0.001） than ASC. But, in comparison to non-cancer controls, CLD patients had higher values of IL-2R, TNF-RI and TNF-RII, but lower TNF-α （P〈0.001）. IL-10 was higher （though not significantly） in HCC and CLD patients than in symptomatic carriers and non-cancer controls. CONCLUSION： Liver disease progression from CLD to HCC due to HCV genotype-4 infection is associated with an imbalance between Th1 and Th2 cytokines. IL-2R, TNF-RI, and TNF-RII could be used as potential markers.

Experimental Behavior of Partially Prestressed High Strength Concrete Beams

In the last few decades, prestressed concrete has been rapidly used in bridge engineering due to the enormous development in the construction techniques and the increasing need for long span bridges. High strength concrete has been also more widely spread than the past. It currently becomes more desirable as it has better mechanical properties and durability performance. major defect of fully prestressed concrete is its low ductility;it may produce less alarming signs than ordinary reinforced concrete via smaller deflection and limited cracking. Therefore, partially prestressing is considered an intermediate design between the two extremes. So, combining high strength concrete with partial prestressing will result in a considerable development in the use of prestressed concrete structures regarding the economical and durability view points. This study presents the results of seven partially prestressed high strength concrete beams in flexure. The tested beams are used to investigate the influence of concrete compressive strength, prestressing steel ratio and flange width on the behavior of partially prestressed beams. The experimentally observed behaviors of all beams were presented in terms of the cracking load, ultimate load, deflection, cracking behavior and failure modes.
