Frozen Section in Postmenopausal Women Presented with Suspicious Ovarian Masses, Does It Have a Role?

Background: Frozen section (FS) has a valuable role in the diagnosis of ovarian tumors. It is considered a pivotal point in guiding the surgical therapy, particularly in premenopausal women. In postmenopausal women, it may be required as well to avoid unnecessary surgical staging in benign ovarian tumors. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of intraoperative frozen section in ovarian neoplasms in postmenopausal women. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis was done for intraoperative FS for suspected ovarian neoplasms. The study was conducted in Oncology Center, Mansoura University from March 2008 to December 2014. The frozen and paraffin section reports were compared, and overall accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values were determined. Results: The study included 105 patients and the overall accuracy of FS in determining malignancy was 81.7%. The sensitivity for malignant tumors was 75.32% with specificity of 100%. For benign tumors, the sensitivity and specificity were 100% and 93%, respectively. Borderline tumors had the lowest sensitivity of 100% with specificity of 95.19%. Conclusion: The present study concurs that frozen section is an accurate test for diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors in postmenopausal women thus determining the extent of surgery done for them. On the other hand, accuracy rates for borderline tumors are low.

An End-to-End Authentication Scheme for Healthcare IoT Systems Using WMSN

The healthcare internet of things(IoT)system has dramatically reshaped this important industry *** system employs the latest technology of IoT and wireless medical sensor networks to support the reliable connection of patients and healthcare *** goal is the remote monitoring of a patient’s physiological data by ***,this system can reduce the number and expenses of healthcare centers,make up for the shortage of healthcare centers in remote areas,enable consultation with expert physicians around the world,and increase the health awareness of *** major challenges that affect the rapid deployment and widespread acceptance of such a system are the weaknesses in the authentication process,which should maintain the privacy of patients,and the integrity of remote medical *** research results indicate the need of a flexible authentication *** study proposes a scheme with enhanced security for healthcare IoT systems,called an end-to-end authentication scheme for healthcare IoT systems,that is,an *** proposed scheme supports security services such as a strong and flexible authentication process,simultaneous anonymity of the patient and physician,and perfect forward secrecy services.A security analysis based on formal and informal methods demonstrates that the proposed scheme can resist numerous security-related attacks.A comparison with related authentication schemes shows that the proposed scheme is efficient in terms of communication,computation,and storage,and therefore cannot only offer attractive security services but can reasonably be applied to healthcare IoT systems.

Analysis of the Desynchronization Attack Impact on the E2EA Scheme

The healthcare IoT system is considered to be a significant and modern medical *** is broad consensus that these systems will play a vital role in the achievement of economic growth in numerous growth *** the major challenges preventing the fast and widespread adoption of such systems is the failure to maintain the data privacy of patients and the integrity of remote clinical ***,the author proposed an end-to-end authentication scheme for healthcare IoT systems(E2EA),to provide a mutual authentication with a high data rate between the communication nodes of the healthcare IoT *** the E2EA authentication scheme supports numerous attractive security services to resist various types of attack,there is an ambiguous view of the impact of the desynchronization attack on the E2EA authentication *** general,the performance of the authentication scheme is considered a critical issue when evaluating the applicability of such schemes,along with the security services that can be ***,this paper discusses how the E2EA authentication scheme can resist the desynchronization attack through all possible attack ***,the effect of the desynchronization attack on the E2EA scheme performance is analyzed in terms of its computation and communication costs,based on a comparison with the recently related authentication schemes that can prevent such ***,this research paper finds that the E2EA authentication scheme can not only prevent the desynchronization attack,but also offers a low cost in terms of computations and communications,and can maintain consistency and synchronization between the communication nodes of the healthcare IoT systems during the next authentication sessions.

Effects of CuO Nanoparticles on Microstructure,Physical,Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Self-Compacting Cementitious Composites

In the present study,split tensile strength of self-compacting concrete with different amount of CuO nanoparticles has been *** nanoparticles with the average particle size of 15 nm were added partially to self compacting concrete and split tensile strength of the specimens has been *** results indicate that CuO nanoparticles are able to improve the split tensile strength of self compacting concrete and recover the negative effects of polycarboxylate superplasticizer on split tensile *** nanoparticle as a partial replacement of cement up to 4 wt% could accelerate C-S-H gel formation as a result of increased crystalline Ca（OH）2 amount at the early ages of *** increase of the CuO nanoparticles more than 4 wt% causes the decrease of the split tensile strength because of unsuitable dispersion of nanoparticles in the concrete *** peak appearance in conduction calorimetry tests,more weight loss in thermogravimetric analysis and more rapid appearance of related peaks to hydrated products in X-ray diffraction（XRD） results all also indicate that CuO nanoparticles up to4 wt% could improve the mechanical and physical properties of the ***,CuO nanoparticles could improve the pore structure of concrete and shift the distributed pores to harmless and few-harm pores.

Computer-aided Prediction of the ZrO_2 Nanoparticles' Effects on Tensile Strength and Percentage of Water Absorption of Concrete Specimens

In the present paper, two models based on artificial neural networks and genetic programming for predicting split tensile strength and percentage of water absorption of concretes containing ZrO2 nanoparticles have been developed at different ages of curing. For building these models, training and testing using experimental results for 144 specimens produced with 16 different mixture proportions were conducted. The data used in the multilayer feed forward neural networks models and input variables of genetic programming models were arranged in a format of eight input parameters that cover the cement content, nanoparticle content, aggregate type, water content, the amount of superplasticizer, the type of curing medium, age of curing and number of testing try. According to these input parameters, in the neural networks and genetic programming models, the split tensile strength and percentage of water absorption values of concretes containing ZrO2 nanoparticles were predicted. The training and testing results in the neural network and genetic programming models have shown that two models have strong potential for predicting the split tensile strength and percentage of water absorption values of concretes containing ZrO2 nanoparticles. It has been found that neural network （NN） and gene expression programming （GEP） models will be valid within the ranges of variables. In neural networks model, as the training and testing ended when minimum error norm of network gained, the best results were obtained and in genetic programming model, when 4 genes were selected to construct the model, the best results were acquired. Although neural network have predicted better results, genetic programming is able to predict reasonable values with a simpler method rather than neural network.

Secure and Anonymous Three-Factor Authentication Scheme for Remote Healthcare Systems

Wireless medical sensor networks(WMSNs)play a significant role in increasing the availability of remote healthcare *** vital and physiological data of the patient can be collected using the WMSN via sensor nodes that are placed on his/her body and then transmitted remotely to a healthcare professional for proper *** protection of the patient’s privacy and their data from unauthorized access is a major concern in such ***,an authentication scheme with a high level of security is one of the most effective mechanisms by which to address these security *** authentication schemes for remote patient monitoring have been proposed ***,the majority of these schemes are extremely vulnerable to attacks and are unsuitable for practical *** paper proposes a secure three-factor authentication scheme for a patient-monitoring healthcare system that operates remotely using a *** proposed authentication scheme is formally verified using the Burrows,Abadi and Needham’s(BAN)logic model and an automatic cryptographic protocol verifier(ProVerif)*** show that our authentication scheme can prevent relevant types of security breaches in a practical context according to the discussed possible attack *** of the security and performance are carried out with recently proposed authentication *** results of the analysis show that the proposed authentication scheme is secure and practical for use,with reasonable storage space,computation,and communication efficiency.

TiO_2 nanoparticles' effects on properties of concrete using ground granulated blast furnace slag as binder

In the present study, compressive strength, pore structure, thermal behavior and microstrncture characteristics of concrete containing ground granulated blast furnace slag and TiO2 nanoparticles as binder were investigated. Portland cement was replaced by different amounts of ground granulated blast furnace slag and the properties of concrete specimens were investigated. Al- though it negatively impacts the properties of concrete at early ages, ground granulated blast furnace slag up to 45 wt% was found to improve the physical and mechanical properties of concrete at later ages. TiO2 nanoparticles with the average particle size of 15 nm were partially added to concrete with the optimum content of ground granulated blast furnace slag and physical and mechanical properties of the specimens were measured. TiO2 nanoparticle as a partial replacement of cement up to 3 wt% could accelerate C-S-H gel formation as a result of increased crystalline Ca（OH）2 amount at the early age of hydration and hence increase compressive strength of concrete. The increased TiO2 nanoparticles＇ content of more than 3 wt% may cause reduced compressive strength because of the decreased crystalline Ca（OH）2 content required for C-S-H gel formation and unsuitable dispersed nanoparticles in the concrete matrix. TiO2 nanoparticles could improve the pore structure of concrete and shift the distributed pores to harmless and less-harm pores.

Permeation properties of CO2 and CH4 in asymmetric polyethersulfone/ polyesterurethane and polyethersulfone/polyetherurethane blend membranes

The transport performances of carbon dioxide and methane were studied in polyethersulfone, polyethersulfone/polyeterurethane(PES–ETPU) and polyethersulfone/polyestherurethane(PES–ESPU) blend membranes separately with different compositions. The variations in the structural characteristics of PES membrane after incorporation of ESPU and ETPU were investigated by different techniques. Additionally, the effect of pressure and composition on the permeance of CO_2, CH_4 and ideal selectivity of CO_2/CH_4 were checked on the *** results revealed that the morphology of the blend membranes was affected by two opposite factors: thermodynamic enhancement and kinetic hindrance. The membranes with denser sponge layers were formed at lower ratio of PU/PES, while more porous structure with enlarged macrovoids membranes were observed at higher PU content. The results indicated that adding PU to PES membrane, caused permeance improvement of the gases with nearly no change and/or reduction in ideal selectivity of CO_2/CH_4. Moreover, PES–ETPU membranes showed higher permeability and less CO_2/CH_4 selectivity in comparison with PES–ESPU samples. For PES–ESPU membrane containing 1.5% ESPU, CO_2 permeance at 10 bar was improved up to 20% with almost no change in CO_2/CH_4 selectivity with respect to PES. Finally, response surface methodology was used to evaluate the effects of the operating parameters on the permeance and ideal selectivity.

Recent improvements in oily wastewater treatment:Progress, challenges, and future opportunities

Oily wastewater poses significant threats to the soil, water, air and human beings because of the hazardous nature of its oil contents. The objective of this review paper is to highlight the current and recently developed methods for oily wastewater treatment through which contaminants such as oil, fats, grease, and inorganics can be removed for safe *** include electrochemical treatment, membrane filtration, biological treatment,hybrid technologies, use of biosurfactants, treatment via vacuum ultraviolet radiation,and destabilization of emulsions through the use of zeolites and other natural *** review encompasses innovative and novel approaches to oily wastewater treatment and provides scientific background for future work that will be aimed at reducing the adverse impact of the discharge of oily wastewater into the environment. The current challenges affecting the optimal performance of oily wastewater treatment methods and opportunities for future research development in this field are also discussed.
