Serum Transferrin Receptors in Children with Hypochromic Microcytic Anaemia

Hypochromic microcytic anaemia includes iron deficiency, anaemia of chronic disorders, beta thalassemia trait and sideroblastic anaemia. To rule out the cause of hypochromic microcytic anaemia is a diagnostic difficulty. The conventional laboratory tests used for diagnosis have few disadvantages. Serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) is the most reliable method for assessment of body iron. Eighty four children were included in this study. They were further divided into four groups: iron deficiency anaemia (IDA), anaemia of chronic disorders (ACD), beta thalassemia trait (β TT) and controls. Children withIDAand ACD were diagnosed on the basis of history and serum iron profile. Subjects with β TT had HbA2 > 3.5%. sTfR were performed on all subjects. Level of sTfR in patients withIDAwas 5.79 μg/ml ± 1.3 μg/ml. In patients with anaemia of chronic disorders (ACD), β thalassemia trait and controls mean sTfR were 2.18 μg/ml ± 0.6 μg/ml, 2.1μg/ml ± 0.5 μg/ml and 2.0 μg/ml ± 0.5 μg/ml respectively. Squamous cell carcinoma of scrotum is not common. It was the first cancer directly associated with a specific occupation i.e. chimney sweeps. We report a case of squamous cell carcinoma of scrotum developed in a patient of stricture urethra with multiple perineal urinary fistulas treated with lay open urethra with buccal mucosal graft. Tobacco exposed buccal mucosa graft can act as a carcinogen for scrotal cancer in patients with multiple fistula and poor hygiene.

Multifunctional,flexible,and robust thin films capable of operating in demanding harsh temperature environments are crucial for various cutting-edge *** study presents a multifunctional Janus film integrating highly-crystalline Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene and mechanically-robust carbon nanotube(CNT)film through strong hydrogen *** hybrid film not only exhibits high electrical conductivity(4250 S cm^(-1)),but also demonstrates robust mechanical strength and durability in both extremely low and high temperature environments,showing exceptional resistance to thermal *** hybrid Janus film of 15μm thickness reveals remarkable multifunctionality,including efficient electromagnetic shielding effectiveness of 72 dB in X band frequency range,excellent infrared(IR)shielding capability with an average emissivity of 0.09(a minimal value of 0.02),superior thermal camouflage performance over a wide temperature range(−1 to 300℃)achieving a notable reduction in the radiated temperature by 243℃ against a background temperature of 300℃,and outstanding IR detection capability characterized by a 44%increase in resistance when exposed to 250 W IR *** multifunctional MXene/CNT Janus film offers a feasible solution for electromagnetic shielding and IR shielding/detection under challenging conditions.

Control charts are commonly used tools in statistical process control for the detection of shifts in process parameters. Shewhart-type charts are efficient for large shift values, whereas cumulative sum(CUSUM) charts are effective in detecting medium and small shifts. Control chart use commonly assumes that data are free of outliers and parameters are known or correctly estimated based on an in-control process. In practice, these assumptions are not often true because some processes occasionally have outliers. Monitoring the location parameter is usually based on mean charts, which are seriously affected by violations of these assumptions. In this paper we propose several CUSUM median control charts based on auxiliary variables, and offer comparisons with their corresponding mean control charts. To monitor the location parameter, we examined the performance of mean and median control charts in the presence and absence of outliers. Both symmetric and non-symmetric processes were studied to examine the properties of the proposed control charts to monitor the location parameter using CUSUM control charts. We used different run length measures to study in-control and out-of-control performances of CUSUM charts. Results revealed that our proposed control charts perform much better than the traditional charts in the presence of outliers. A real application of our study was provided using data on concrete compressive strength as it relates to the quality of cement manufacturing.

Background:The basic objective of this study was to examine the relationship between the rice output,its production area,water availability,and agricultural gross domestic product(GDP)of *** time series data for 1970–2015 were collected from the National Food Security and Research,Economic Survey of Pakistan,and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics(various publications).Methods:Rice crop data were analyzed using the ordinary least square method and the augmented Dickey–Fuller *** interpreted using the Johansen cointegration ***:Our study revealed the existence of a long-standing relationship between rice output,its production area,and water availability with the agricultural GDP of *** results indicate that rice output and cultivated area have a significant and positive relationship with agricultural GDP,while water availability has a negative ***:The study suggests that the government of Pakistan should design new policies and funding schemes for developing and improving water availability.

MXene is a variety of new two-dimensional(2D)materials with early transition metal carbides,nitrides,and *** chemical studies have been carried out on the geometries,electronic structures,stability and catalytic properties of a non-noble metal single-atom catalyst(SAC)with single Co atom anchored on MXene materials of Mo_(2)CS_(2).The Co adatom anchored on top of the Mo atom of this MXene is found to be rather stable,and this SAC is appropriate for CO *** charge transfers from the surface to the adsorbed CO and O2 play a significant role in the activation of these molecules on Co_(1)/Mo_(2)CS_(2).With this catalyst,the Eley-Rideal(ER),Langmuir-Hinshelwood(LH),and Termolecular Eley-Rideal(TER)mechanisms are explored for CO *** find that,while all the three mechanisms are feasible at low temperature,Co_(1)/Mo_(2)CS_(2) possesses higher catalytic activity for CO oxidation through the TER mechanism that features an intriguing OC(OO)CO intermediate(IM)adsorbed on Co single *** calculated activation energy barriers of the rate-limiting step are 0.67 eV(TER),0.78 eV(LH)and 0.88 eV(ER),*** present study illustrates that it is promising to develop and design low-cost,non-noble metal SACs using MXene types of 2D materials.
