An improved interval model updating method via adaptive Kriging models

Interval model updating(IMU)methods have been widely used in uncertain model updating due to their low requirements for sample ***,the surrogate model in IMU methods mostly adopts the one-time construction *** makes the accuracy of the surrogate model highly dependent on the experience of users and affects the accuracy of IMU ***,an improved IMU method via the adaptive Kriging models is *** method transforms the objective function of the IMU problem into two deterministic global optimization problems about the upper bound and the interval diameter through universal grey *** optimization problems are addressed through the adaptive Kriging models and the particle swarm optimization(PSO)method to quantify the uncertain parameters,and the IMU is *** the construction of these adaptive Kriging models,the sample space is gridded according to sensitivity *** sampling is then performed in key subspaces based on the maximum mean square error(MMSE)*** interval division coefficient and random sampling coefficient are adaptively adjusted without human interference until the model meets accuracy *** effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by a numerical example of a three-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system and an experimental example of a butted cylindrical *** results show that the updated results of the interval model are in good agreement with the experimental results.

Toll-like Receptor 4 Signaling Pathway in the Protective Effect of Pioglitazone on Experimental Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy

Background： In vitro experiments have revealed that toll-like receptor 4 （TLR4） pathway is involved in the progression ofimmunoglobulin A nephropathy （IgAN） by induction of proinflammatory cytokines. Evidence showed that, in other disease models, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-7 （PPAR-7） agonists have been shown to exert anti-inflammatory effects through suppression of the expression and activity of TLR4. However, the interaction between PPAR-7 and TLR4 in IgAN has not been fully studied both in vitro and in vivo. In this study, we explored whether TLR4 pathway attributed to the progression of IgAN in experimental rats. Methods： Bovine gamma globulin was used to establish IgAN model. Fifty-four Lewis rats were randomly divided into six groups： ControliaK242, IgANTAK242, toll-like receptor 4 inhibitor （TAK242） groups （rats were administrated with TLR4 inhibitor, TAK242） and Controlpo, IgANpo, Pio groups （rats were administrated with PPAR-y agonist, pioglitazone）. Urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio （ACR）, serum creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen were detected by automatic biochemical analyzer. Renal histopathological changes were observed after hematoxylin-eosin staining, and the IgA deposition in glomeruli was measured by immunofluorescence staining. Real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting were used to detect TLR4 and interleukin- 1 beta （IL- 1β） message ribonucleic acid （mRNA） and protein expression in renal tissues. Results were presented as mean -4- standard deviation. Differences between groups were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance. Results： Compared to normal rats, experimental rats showed higher ACR （4.45 ± 1.33 mg/mmol vs. 2.89 ± 0.96 mg/mmol, P 〈 0.05）, obvious IgA deposition with mesangial hypercellularity, hyperplasia of mesangial matrix accompanied by increased serum IL-Iβ （48.28 ± 13.49 μg/ml vs. 35.56 ± 7.41μg/ml, P 〈 0.05）, and renal expression of IL-Iβ and TLR4. A potential threat from biodegradable microplastics: mechanism of cadmium adsorption and desorption in the simulated gastrointestinal environment

It has been demonstrated that microplastics (MPs) can accumulate heavy metals from the environment and transfer them into organisms via the food chain. However, adsorption and desorption capacities for biodegradable MPs relative to those for conventional MPs remain poorly understood. In this study, cadmium (Cd(II)) adsorption and desorption characteristics of polylactic acid (PLA), a typical biodegradable MP, were investigated. Two conventional MPs, i.e., polypropylene (PP) and polyamide (PA) were used for comparison. The maximum Cd(II) adsorption capacities of the MPs studied in the adsorption experiments decreased in the order PA (0.96 ± 0.07 mg/g) > PLA (0.64 ± 0.04 mg/g) > PP (0.22 ± 0.03 mg/g). The Pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich isothermal model described the Cd(II) adsorption behaviors of PLA MPs well. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and two-dimensional Fourier transform infrared correlation spectroscopy analysis indicated that oxygen functional groups were the major and preferential binding sites of PLA MPs, which contributed to their high Cd(II) adsorption capacities. Simulated gastric and intestinal fluids both significantly enhanced the desorption capacities of the examined MPs. Notably, degradation of the PLA MPs during in vitro human digestion made the Cd(II) on the PLA MPs more bioaccessible (19% in the gastric phase and 62% in the intestinal phase) than Cd(II) on the PP and PA MPs. These results indicate the remarkable capacities of biodegradable MPs to accumulate Cd(II) and transfer it to the digestive system and show that biodegradable MPs might pose more severe threats to human health than conventional nonbiodegradable MPs.

Comparison of Nutrition Practices, Knowledge and Exercise between Pregnant Women in China and Zambia

Purpose: The aim of this study is to compare how Chinese and Zambian pregnant women respond to nutrition and exercise. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study with data that was conducted in Chingola City, Zambia, and Hangzhou City, China, using an online survey between September 1, 2023 and February 28, 2024. The subjects were divided into two groups (the China group and the Zambia group) according to their nationality. Results: A total of 210 participants were included through a questionnaire survey, 104 from China and 106 from Zambia. In terms of nutrient supplementation and whether to choose takeout weekly, 100% of Chinese pregnant women chose yes, while 100% of Zambian pregnant women chose no (P 0.05). The proportion of pregnant women in the China group choosing moderate or intense activities was higher than that in the Zambia group. In terms of daily exercise time, the proportion of Chinese pregnant women choosing 13 - 30 minutes or 30 - 60 minutes was significantly higher than that of Zambian pregnant women (P Conclusion: From the findings in our study, it can be observed that although pregnancy is an experience that many women may go through, lifestyle habits during pregnancy can vary from culture to culture or ethnicity.
