Evaluation of the combined influence of geological layer property and in-situ stresses on fracture height growth for layered formations

Fracture geometry is important when stimulating low-permeability reservoirs for natural gas or oil production. The geological layer(GL) properties and contrasts in in-situ stress are the two most important parameters for determination of the vertical fracture growth extent and containment in layered rocks. However, the method for assessing the cumulative impact on growth in height remains ambiguous. In this research, a 3D model based on the cohesive zone method is used to simulate the evolution of hydraulic fracture(HF) height in layered reservoirs. The model incorporates fluid flow and elastic deformation, considering the friction between the contacting fracture surfaces and the interaction between fracture components. First, an analytical solution that was readily available was used to validate the model. Afterwards, a quantitative analysis was performed on the combined impacts of the layer interface strength, coefficient of interlayer stress difference, and coefficient of vertical stress *** results indicate that the observed fracture height geometries can be categorized into three distinct regions within the parametric space: blunted fracture, crossed fracture, and T-shaped ***, the results explained the formation mechanism of the low fracture height in the deep shale reservoir of the Sichuan Basin, China, as well as the distinction between fracture network patterns in mid-depth and deep shale reservoirs.

The underlying physics of QCD phase transition in the early Universe remains largely unknown due to its strong-coupling nature during the quark-gluon plasma/hadron gas transition, yet a holographic model has been proposed to quantitatively fit the lattice QCD data while with its duration of the first-order phase transition(FoPT) left undetermined. At specific baryon chemical potential, the first-order QCD phase transition agrees with the observational constraint of baryon asymmetry. It, therefore, provides a scenario for phase transition gravitational waves(GWs) within the standard model of particle physics. If these background GWs could contribute dominantly to the recently claimed common-spectrum red noise from pulsar timing array(PTA) observations, the duration of this FoPT can be well constrained, and the associated primordial black holes are still allowed by current observations.

The effects of exercise interventions on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents:a meta-analysis

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor is a crucial neurotrophic factor that plays a significant role in brain health. Although the vast majority of meta-analyses have confirmed that exercise interventions can increase brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents, the effects of specific types of exercise on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels are still controversial. To address this issue, we used meta-analytic methods to quantitatively evaluate, analyze, and integrate relevant studies. Our goals were to formulate general conclusions regarding the use of exercise interventions, explore the physiological mechanisms by which exercise improves brain health and cognitive ability in children and adolescents, and provide a reliable foundation for follow-up research. We used the Pub Med, Web of Science, Science Direct, Springer, Wiley Online Library, Weipu, Wanfang, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure databases to search for randomized controlled trials examining the influences of exercise interventions on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents. The extracted data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.3. According to the inclusion criteria, we assessed randomized controlled trials in which the samples were mainly children and adolescents, and the outcome indicators were measured before and after the intervention. We excluded animal experiments, studies that lacked a control group, and those that did not report quantitative results. The mean difference(MD;before versus after intervention) was used to evaluate the effect of exercise on brain-derived neurotrophic factor levels in children and adolescents. Overall, 531 participants(60 children and 471 adolescents, 10.9–16.1 years) were included from 13 randomized controlled trials. Heterogeneity was evaluated using the Q statistic and I^(2) test provided by Review Manager software. The meta-analysis showed that there was no heterogeneity among the studies(P = 0.67,

Improved open-circuit voltage and ambient stability of CsPbI2Br perovskite solar cells by incorporating CH3NH3Cl

Inorganic cesium metal halide perovskites have gained research interest as absorbers in perovskite solar cells due to their superior thermal *** these,CsPbI2Br,with a narrower band gap than CsPbBr3 and a better phase stability than CsPbI3,has received tremendous interest of the ***,CsPbI2 Br takes adverse phase transfer easily with an exposure to the water vapor in ambient air which not only brings inconvenience for researches but also puts forward very high requirement for ***,a dense and uniform film is obtained by incorporating hydrophobic CH3NH3Cl(MACl)into the precursor *** attributed to a good passivation effect,the defect density is decreased from3.12×1016 to 1.49×1016 cm-3 and the average photoluminescence lifetime is increased from 8.84 to 20.6 *** photovoltaic device achieves a high open-circuit voltage of 1.22 V based on optimized MACl-doped film and accordingly a higher power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 12.9% which is 21.7% higher than the pristine CsPbI2Br device with PCE of 10.6%.In addition,the ambient stability of MACl-doped device has been enhanced,which is greatly attributed to the hydrophobic properties of *** work provides a clue to improve ambient stability of inorganic perovskite solar cells and inspires toward further development of this material.

An intelligent reflecting surface(IRS),or its various equivalents such as an reconfigurable intelligent surface(RIS), is an emerging technology to control radio signal propagation in wireless systems. An IRS is a digitally controlled metasurface consisting of a large number of passive reflecting elements, which are connected to a smart controller to enable dynamic adjustments of the amplitude and/or phase of the incident signal on each element independently [1].

Fracture mode identification of low alloy steels and cast irons by electron back-scattered diffraction misorientation analysis

The fracture modes of low alloy steels and cast irons under tensile and fatigue conditions were identified by electron back-scattered diffraction（EBSD） misorientation analysis in this research. The curves of grain reference orientation deviation（GROD） distribution perpendicular to the fracture surface were obtained by EBSD observation, and the characteristics of each fracture mode were identified. The GROD value of the specimen fractured in tension decreases to a constant related to the elongation of corresponding specimen in the far field（farther than 5 mm away from the fracture surface）. The peak exhibits in GROD curves of two smooth specimens and a notched specimen near the fracture surface（within 5 mm away from the fracture surface）, and the formation mechanisms were discussed in detail based on the influences of specimen geometries（smooth or notched） and material toughness. The GROD value of fatigue fractured specimen is close to that at undeformed condition in the whole field, except the small area near the crack path. The loading conditions（constant stress amplitude loading or constant stress intensity factor range K loading） and the EBSD striation formation during fatigue crack propagation were also studied by EBSD observation parallel to the crack path.

The deep-sea is considered as the most extensive ecosystem on the *** is meaningful for elucidating the life origins by exploring the origin and adaptive genetic mechanisms of the large deepsea *** shrimps have colonized and successfully adapted to deep-sea *** provide an ideal model to analyze the origin and adaptive evolution of modern deep-sea ***,we conducted the phylogenetic analyses of mitocho ndrial genomes(mitogenomes)from carideans,including 11 newly sequences reported in this investigation to explore the habitat origins,divergence times,and adaptive evolution of deep-sea(seamounts and hydrothermal vents)caridean *** results showed that the species of deep-sea Caridea formed a monophyletic *** analysis supported that the deepsea caridean shrimps may originated from shallow *** hydrothermal vents alvinocaridid shrimps and Lebbeus shinkaiae from Thoridae underwent a second range expansion from seamounts to vent *** of divergence time showed that the caridean shrimps invaded into deep-sea at 147.75 *** divergence of most of the modern seamount and hydrothermal vent species are in the late Cretaceous/early *** may associate with the geological events of the Western Pacific,the climate change,and the global deep-water anoxic/dysoxic events during this ***-two potentially important adaptive residues were detected in the deep-sea shrimp lineage,which were located in atp6,atp8,cox1,cox3,cytb,nad2,nad4 l,and *** investigation adds our understanding of the evolutionary history of deep-sea caridean shrimps,and provides insights into the mitochondrial genetic basis of deep-sea adaptation in this group.

Alternative non-Gaussianity measures for quantum states based on quantum fidelity

We propose three alternative measures for non-Gaussianity of quantum states: sine distance, Bures angle, and Bures distance, which are based on quantum fidelity introduced by Wang [Phys. Lett. A 373 58(2008)]. Using them, we evaluate the non-Gaussianity of some relevant single-mode and two-mode non-Gaussian states and find a good consistency of the three examined measures. In addition, we show that such metrics can exactly quantify the degree of Gaussianity of even Schrödinger-cat-like states of small amplitudes that can not be measured by other known non-Gaussianity measures such as the Hilbert–Schmidt metric and the relative entropy metric. We make a comparative study between all existing nonGaussianity measures according to the metric axioms and point out that the sine distance is the best candidate among them.

Experimental studies and modeling for the transition from internal to external oxidation of three-phase Nb-Si-Cr alloys

A modified oxidation model, which assumes the cylindrical-like morphology of Cr2Nb phase, has been proposed to examine the conditions to form external scale of three-phase Nb-base alloys in this paper. The oxidation behavior of three-phase Nb-base alloys was tested at 1250 ℃ for 1 h and 7 h, and the experimental results were compared with the simulated results. The results show that the external CrNbO4scale can be achieved by lengthradius ratio and volume fraction increasing for Cr2Nb phase. The simulated results are consistent with the experimental results.
