The start-up feasibility of ISFR to treat rural domestic wastewater and the removal efficiency of CODCr, TP and TN are investigated. The results indicate that the start-up of ISFR lasts for 32d. When hydraulic retention time is 12h and volume loading is 0.54kgCODCr / (m3 d), effluent CODCr is below 50mg/L and can meet the first degree A discharge standards in Discharge Standard of Pollutants for Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (GB18918-2002). But the removal efficiency of TN is only 10%0%, and that of TP is 20%0%. The pH values of mixed liquor is on the rise along the processing units. As the ISFR start-up is finished, the biofilm cultured in the processing units is in good conditions.
