The recirculation flow after different cross-section shaped high-rise buildings with applications to ventilation assessment and drag parameterization

The building cross-section shape significantly affects the flow characteristics around buildings,especially the recirculation region behind the high-rise *** generic building shapes including square,triangle,octagon,T-shaped,cross-shaped,#-shaped,H-shaped and L-shaped are examined to elucidate their effects on the flow patterns,recirculation length L and areas A using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS)*** sizes and positions of the vortexes behind the buildings are found to be substantially affected by the building shapes and subsequently changing the recirculation *** recirculation length L is in the range of 1.6b-2.6b with an average of *** maximum L is found for L-shaped building(2.6b)while the shortest behind octagon building(1.6b).The vertical recirculation area Av is in the range of 1.5b^(2)-3.2b^(2)and horizontal area Ah in 0.9b^(2)-2.2b^(2).The L,Av and Ah generally increase with increasing approaching frontal area when the wind direction changes but subject to the dent structures of the#-shaped and cross-shaped *** area-averaged wind velocity ratio(AVR),which is proposed to assess the ventilation performance,is in the range of 0.05 and 0.14,which is around a three-fold difference among the different building *** drag coefficient parameterized by Ah varies significantly,suggesting that previous models without accounting for building shape effect could result in large uncertainty in the drag *** findings provide important reference for improving pedestrian wind environment and shed some light on refining the urban canopy parameterization by considering the building shape effect.

A fiber-based,self-aligned dual-beam laser direct writing system with a polarization-engineered depletion beam is designed,constructed,and *** system employs a vortex fiber to generate a donut-shaped,cylindrically polarized depletion beam while simultaneously allowing the fundamental mode excitation beam to pass *** results in a co-axially self-aligned dual-beam source,enhancing stability and mitigating assembly *** size of the central dark spot of the focused cylindrical vector depletion beam can be easily adjusted using a simple polarization rotation *** a depletion wavelength of 532 nm and an excitation wavelength of800 nm,the dual-beam laser direct writing system has demonstrated a single linewidth of 63 nm and a minimum line spacing of 173 *** optimization of this system may pave the way for practical superresolution photolithography that surpasses the diffraction limit.

Two-dimensional(2D)covalent organic framework(CoF)mem-branes featuring well-aligned and programmable vertical nano-channels have emerged as a promising candidate for advanced nanofluidic devices and showcased vast potential in the fields of smart-gating,ion-separation,and ***,the transverse interlayer nanochannels with a height of sub-nanometer-scale in 2D-CoF membranes have scarcely been studied in ***,we report the ion transport characteristics in 2D interlayer nanochannels of protonated CoF *** dis-tinct surface-charge-governed ionic conductance in domination of electrolyte concentration below 1o-3 M as well as the exceptional anion/cation(Cl^(-)/K^(+))selectivity is revealed due to the pronounced charge and nano-confinement ***,evident ion current rectification is witnessed when incorporating asymmetric geometry into the system,which is attributed to the dynamic process of ion enrichment and dissipation within the protonated *** work offers immense prospects for 2D-CoF membranes in the fields of biomimetic nanofluidic devices and cutting-edge electronic devices.

Gravure printing is a promising large-scale fabrication method for flexible organic solar cells(FoSCs)because it is compatible with two-dimension patternable roll-to-roll ***,the unsuitable rheological property of Zno nanoinks resulted in unevenness and looseness of the gravure-printed Zno interfacial *** we propose a strategy to manipulate the macroscopic and microscopic of the gravure-printed Zno films through using mixed solvent and poly(vinylpyrrolidone)(PVP)*** regulation of drying speed effectively manipulates the droplets fusion and leveling process and eliminates the printing ribbing structure in the macroscopic *** additive of PVP effectively regulates the rheological property and improves the microscopic compactness of the *** this method,large-area Zno∶PVP films(28×9 cm^(2))with excellent uniformity,compactness,conductivity,and bending durability were *** power conversion efficiencies of FoSCs with gravure-printed AgNWs and Zno∶PVP films reached 14.34%and 17.07%for the 1 cm^(2)PM6:Y6 and PM6∶L8-Bo flexible *** efficiency of 17.07%is the highest value to date for the 1 cm^(2)*** use of mixed solvent and PVP addition also significantly enlarged the printing window of Zno ink,ensuring high-quality printed thin films with thicknesses varying from 30 to 100 nm.

Partial nitrification is a key aspect of efficient nitrogen removal,although practically it suf-fers from long start-up cycles and unstable long-term operational *** address these drawbacks,this study investigated the effect of low intensity ultrasound treatment combined with hydroxylamine(NH2oH)on the performance of partial *** showthat compared with the control group,low-intensity ultrasound treatment(0.10W/mL,15 min)combined with NH2oH(5 mg/L)reduced the time required for partial nitrification initiation by 6 days,increasing the nitrite accumulation rate(NAR)and ammonia nitro-gen removal rate(NRR)by 20.4% and 6.7%,respectively,achieving 96.48% ***-tic analysis showed that NH2oH enhanced ammonia oxidation,inhibited nitrite-oxidizing bacteria(NoB)activity and shortened the time required for partial nitrification ***,ultrasonication combined with NH2oH dosing stimulated EPS(extracellular polymeric substances)secretion,increased carbonyl,hydroxyl and amine functional group abundances and enhanced mass *** addition,16S rRNA gene sequencing results showed that ultrasonication-sensitive Nitrospira disappeared from the ultrasound+NH_(2)oH system,while Nitrosomonas gradually became the dominant ***,the results of this study provide valuable insight into the enhancement of partial nitrification start-up during the process of wastewater nitrogen removal.

Herein, we report the first visible-light photoredox-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl epoxides with Co_(2)to synthesize hydroxy acid derivatives. A variety of valuable β-, γ-, δ-, ε–hydroxy acid derivatives are obtained in moderate to high yields under mild conditions. This protocol shows noteworthy functionalgroup compatibility, high chemo-and regioselectivities under transition-metal-free conditions with an inexpensive organo-dye as photosensitizer. Mechanistic studies indicate that the benzylic carbanion is generated as an intermediate via the sequential single electron transfer(SSET) process.

Reconstruction of biomimetic ionic channels within covalent organic frameworks for ultrafast and selective uranyl capture

The efficient extraction of uranium,as the primary component of nuclear energy,holds significant *** inspiration from the charge interaction observed in biological ion channels,we encapsulated negatively charged polystyrene sulfonate(PSS)or sodium polystyrene carboxylate(PVBA)into the nanochannels of amidoxime functionalized covalent organic framework(CoF-Ao)in-situ to alter the cavity environment of *** synthesized CoF-Ao-PSS and CoF-Ao-PVBA are used for ultra-fast and highly selective uranium *** negatively charged PSS/PVBA was confined in the CoF-Ao channel providing the driving force for uranium transport and blocking other ions,thus creating a highly selective“uranium highway”.Additionally,introducing sulfonate groups or carboxyl groups into CoF-Ao offers supplementary coordination environments and weak interactions with *** to charge-assisted migration and various interaction mechanisms,both CoF-Ao-PSS and CoF-Ao-PVBA exhibit faster adsorption kinetics and higher selectivity compared to CoF-Ao *** adsorption capacities are 3.8 times and 2.4 times that of CoF-Ao alone respectively which highlights the necessity for constructing biomimetic ion channels in uranium adsorption *** work presents a bionic adsorbent based on covalent organic frameworks(CoFs)for the first time,overcoming environmental and equipment limitations associated with traditional photocatalysis and electrocatalysis methods for uranium capture,opening up new avenues for designing multifunctional materials that mimic biological systems.

Development in oxide metallurgy for improving the weldability of high -strength low-alloy steel-Combined deoxidizers and microalloying elements

Thallium’s Threat to Aquatic Life:Stage-Specific Toxicity in Zebrafish Embryos and Larvae

The escalating frequency of thallium(Tl)contamination incidents amplifies its environmental ***,the potential risk of Tl to aquatic organisms,especially across varying developmental stages,remains poorly *** this study,we employed zebrafish as a representative model organism and exposed zebrafish embryos and larvae at distinct developmental periods(specifically,6 h postfertilization(hpf)and 72 hpf)to low concentrations of Tl(I)(0.25 and 0.50 mg/L).The exposure was performed for a short duration of 24 h,followed by a 96 h depuration *** results revealed that Tl(I)exerted disparate biological effects on zebrafish at different developmental *** exhibited negligible uptake of Tl(I),whereas larvae showed a significant accumulation of Tl(I)and struggled with its rapid ***,Tl(I)was able to permeate the blood-brain barrier,thereby posing a risk to the nervous *** analysis indicated that Tl(I)triggered distinct toxicological pathways in embryos and *** mainly interfered with metabolic processes in embryos,while in larvae,it mainly disrupted intracellular ion homeostasis,both consequently provoking *** emphasizes that the multifaceted nature of Tl(I)toxicity depends on the developmental stages of the *** study clearly shows that the bioeffects of Tl are intricately related to the developmental stage of zebrafish.offering a valuable perspective for the pollutant toxicity assessment.
