A near-infrared fluorescent probe for visualizing transformation pathway of Cys/Hcy and H2S and its applications in living system

Sulfydryl-contained(-sh)substances including hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S),cysteine(Cys),homocysteine(Hcy)and glutathione(Gsh)play crucial roles in living systems,and their variations are closely associated with various ***,we developed a near-infrared intramolecular charge transfer(ICT)based fluorescent probe Y-NBD,achieving detection of Cys/Hcy and H_(2)S with different fluorescent signals(green-red for Cys/Hcy,red for H_(2)S),large Stokes shifts(∼100/105nm or 191 nm)and high signal-background-ratio,but not responding to Gsh.Y-NBD was successfully applied to image exogenous/endogenous Cys/Hcy and H_(2)S in various living cancer cells(HeLa,A549,and HepG2)and in *** not only visualized the transformation pathway of several thiols in HepG2 cells but also verified that the intestine is the main site for the activation and metabolism of Y-NBD in zebrafish,as well as realized to evaluate the degree of drug-induced liver *** work provides a promising tool for imaging Cys/Hcy and H_(2)S in living systems and shows great potency in evaluating drug-induced liver injury and its treatment.

Locoregional recurrence and distant metastasis of breast cancer still pose a significant risk for patients’*** address the clinical challenge,functional absorbable sponges(HA-sh/PP-Dox/Lap/CoL I(HCNPs))were constructed by biomimetic extracellular matrix of collagen I/hyaluronic acid complex conjugated with doxorubicin/lapatinib(Dox/Lap)-loaded *** HCNPs sponge exhibited excellent clotting ability and blood absorption ***,Dox/Lap-loaded nanoparticles were synchronously endowed with a large number of oligo hyaluronic acid segments after degradation,which thus enhanced the ability of targeting into CD44-overexpressed tumor *** implantable HCNPs sponge in resected cavity of postoperative 4T1 models inhibited the spread of scattered tumor cells by absorbing the inevitable *** importantly,CD44 targeted nanoparticle with suitable Dox/Lap proportion continuously released from sponge to kill tumor cells of surrounding HCNPs and those remaining at surgical margin,thus prevented local recurrence as well as distant ***,the functional HCNPs sponge might provide a safer and more effective strategy for postoperative treatment of cancer.

Changes in global land surface frozen ground and freeze-thaw processes during 1950-2020 based on ERA5-Land data

Frozen ground(FG)plays an important role in global and regional climates and environments through changes in land freeze-thaw processes,which have been conducted mainly in different ***,the changes in land surface freeze-thaw processes under climate change on a global scale are still *** on ERA5-Land hourly land skin temperature data,this study evaluated changes in the global FG area,global land surface first freeze date(FFD),last freeze date(LFD)and frost-free period(FFP)from 1950 to *** results show that the current FG areas(1991-2020 mean)in the Northern Hemisphere(NH),Southern Hemisphere(sh),and globe are 68.50×10^(6),9.03×10^(6),and 77.53×10^(6)km^(2),which account for 72.4%,26.8%,and 60.4%of the exposed land(excluding glaciers,ice sheets,and water bodies)in the NH,sh and the globe,respectively;further,relative to 1951-1980,the FG area decreased by 1.9%,8.8%,and 2.8%,*** FG at lower latitudes degrades to intermittently FG,and intermittently FG degrades to non-frozen ground,which caused the global FG boundary to retreat to higher latitudes from 1950 to *** annual FG areas in the NH,sh,and globe all show significant decreasing trends(pom 1950 to 2020 at-0.32×10^(6),-0.22×10^(6),and-0.54×10^(6)km^(2)per decade,*** FFP prolongation in the NH is mainly influenced by LFD advance,while in the sh it is mainly controlled by FFD *** prolongation trend of FFP in the NH(1.34 d per decade)is larger than that in the sh(1.15 d per decade).

The irregular defects and residual tumor tissue after surgery are challenges for effective breast cancer ***,a smart hydrogel with self-adaptable size and dual responsive cargos release was fabricated to treat breast cancer via accurate tumor elimination,on-demand adipose tissue regeneration and effective infection *** hydrogel consisted of thiol groups ended polyethylene glycol(sh-PEG-sh)and doxorubicin encapsulated mesoporous silica nanocarriers(DoX@MSNs)double crosslinked hyaluronic acid(HA)after loading of antibacterial peptides(AP)and adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs).A pH-cleavable unsaturated amide bond was pre-introduced between MSNs and HA frame to perform the tumor-specific acidic environment dependent DoX@MSNs release,meanwhile an esterase degradable glyceryl dimethacrylate cap was grafted on MSNs,which contributed to the selective chemotherapy in tumor cells with over-expressed *** bond cleavage between MSNs and HA would also cause the swelling of the hydrogel,which not only provide sufficient space for the growth of ADSCs,but allows the hydrogel to fully fill the irregular defects generated by surgery and residual tumor atrophy,resulting in the on-demand regeneration of adipose ***,the sustained release of AP could be simultaneously triggered along with the size change of hydrogel,which further avoided bacterial infection to promote tissue regeneration.

Photoelectrochemical Study of Passive Films on Sensitized Stainless Steel

Passive films formed on sensitized stainless steel in sulphuric acid solutions have been studied using photoelectrochemical techniques. The results of the photocurrent measurement indicate that the passive films on sensitized stainless steel are characterised with n-type or p-type semiconductor in different potential regions. The difference in the photoelectrochemical behaviour can be interpreted assuming that the passive film is an iron-chromium oxide solid solution associated with various hydration degrees of the Cr(III)-oxides at various potentials.

Vulnerability and Conservation of Nearshore Cetaceans to Increasing Vessel Traffic:The Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphin in the South China Sea

A comprehensive risk assessment to evaluate the vulnerability of the nearshore cetaceans to increasing marine traffic is *** this study,the risk to Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins(Sousa chinensis)in the main habitats in China was assessed based on a semiquantitative spatial vulnerability analysis.85%of the(sub)population which overlapped with the lanes of ferries and/or cargo vessels,with exposure scores of 1.23±0.31(calculated based on the proportion of sea routes that overlap the dolphin’s range).A combination of high exposure to the sea routes and sensitivity to marine traffic would render the(sub)populations to be highly vulnerable(EPRE:5.21 and XM:4.47).A low frequency of vessels and an awareness of the ecology assures a low vulnerability(sh:2.43,EZ:2.73).Uncertainty scores were commonly lower for the higher vulnerable populations,and higher for the lower vulnerable populations,suggesting additional field data and more monitoring are *** years of field data have been used to analyze the influences of various types of marine traffic on humpback dolphin *** and non-fishing vessels were significantly different(χ^(2)=65.19,polphins were attracted by fishing vessels(83.1%)but avoided non-fishing vessels(95.2%).We recommend a management with seasonal and geographical constraints,to balance economic development and environmental conservation.

High Preformation SiC-AlN Composites

High performance SiC-AlN composites were fabricated by hot-pressing with Y2o3 as additive via liquid phase sintering. The SiC-AlN composites containing 5 vol. pet AIN exhibit superior mechanical properties with flexural strength, fracture toughness and Vickers hardness of 1131 MPa, 6.1 MPa.m(1/2) and 28.6 GPa respectively. Microstructure observations indicate that the grain size of the composites is obviously inhibited due to the formation of solid solution. TEM-EDS analysis demonstrates the existence of the solid solution. In addition, subgrain boundaries induced by dislocations in the matrix SiC grains, seem to divide a large grain into numerous nano-sized small grains, which significantly increase the mechanical properties of the composites.

Synthesis and Characterization of Nanocrystalline Ni-Ti and Ni-Cr Powders by Mechanical Alloying

Nanocrystalline powders in the Ni-Ti and Ni-Cr systems were prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) of elemental crystalline powders in an inert atmosphere. The microstructure of the mechanically alloyed powders were characterized by XRD and TEM. The ball-milling process results in a drastic decrease of the crystallite size to the nanometer scale. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that in the Ni-Cr system, no diffraction peaks from NiCr compound were observed even after 20 h of bail milling; while the lattice parameter of Ni increased with the milling time. In the Ni-Ti system, amorphous alloy was formed. Crystalline intermetallic compounds were obtained by post heat treatment of the amorphous alloy. The crystallization temperature of the amorphous NiTi alloy was obtained by DSC measurement.
