Inhibitability of soil loss and sediment concentration during consecutive rainfalls from experimental plots treated by endemic microorganisms

Consecutive rainfalls, due to changes in antecedent moisture, alter soil erosion processes, necessitating the implementation of suitable soil loss control methods. Biological soil microorganism approaches have been applied to control soil loss. however, information on the involvement of microorganisms in the soil loss and rill erosion processes has yet to be supplied. In this study, the individual and combined inoculation of cyanobacteria and bacteria was investigated during five consecutive rainfalls with an interval of three days, an intensity of 50 mm/h, and a duration of 30 min. Also, additional runoff simulation of about 2.18 ± 0.32 L/min was done in mid-sized experimental plots(i.e., 6 m × 1 m × 0.5 m) induced by rill erosion. These experiments were done at the Rainfall and Soil Erosion Simulation Laboratory of the Faculty of Natural Resources, Tarbiat Modares University, Iran. Soil loss and sediment concentration were measured during five consecutive rainfalls in the study treatments and compared with the control treatment. Results showed that the highest soil loss of 30,810.70 g occurred at the control treatment in the first rainfall. In contrast, individual and combined inoculation treatments of cyanobacteria and bacteria with the secretion of polysaccharides and resulting stability of aggregates decreased soil loss significantly(p he control *** the combined treatment of cyanobacteria and bacteria, soil loss further decreased by 68.38%, 70.33%,and 7.27% for 2 through 4, respectively, events and increased by 19.96% in the fifth event, and sediment concentration also decreased by 68.88% and 59.86% for the second and third events, respectively and increased by 4.66% and 83.30% for the fourth and fifth events, respectively. Feedforward Neural Network(FNN)is one of the most popular neural network models that is utilized to solve a wide range of nonlinear and complex *** models such as stochastic gradient descent have been developed to train ***,they mainly suffer from falling into local optima leading to reduce the accuracy of ***,the convergence speed of training process depends on the initial values of weights and biases in ***,these values are randomly determined by most of the training *** deal with these issues,in this paper,we develop a novel evolutionary algorithm by modifying the original version of Whale Optimization Algorithm(WOA).To this end,a nonlinear function is introduced to improve the exploration and exploitation phases in the search process of ***,the modified WOA is applied to automatically obtain the initial values of weights and biases in FNN leading to reduce the probability of falling into local *** addition,the FNN model trained by the modified WOA is used to develop a classification approach for medical diagnosis *** medical diagnosis datasets are utilized to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed ***,four evaluation metrics including accuracy,AUC,specificity,and sensitivity are used in the experiments to compare the performance of classification *** experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is better than other competing classification models due to achieving higher values of accuracy,AUC,specificity,and sensitivity metrics for the used datasets.

Texture evolution and mechanical anisotropic behavior of an ultrafine-grained(UFG)pure copper tube processed by recently introduced method of hydrostatic tube cyclic expansion extrusion(hTCEE)was *** the UFG tube,different deformation behavior and a significant anisotropy in tensile properties were recorded along the longitudinal and peripheral *** hTCEE process increased the yield strength and the ultimate strength in the axial direction by 3.6 and 1.67 times,***,this process increased the yield strength and the ultimate strength in the peripheral direction by 1.15 and 1.12 times,*** ratio of ultimate tensile strength in the peripheral direction to that in the axial direction,as a criterion for mechanical anisotropy,are 1.7 and 1.16 for the as-annealed coarse-grained and the hTCEE processed UFG tube,*** results are indicative of a reducing effect of the hTCEE process on the mechanical ***,after hTCEE process,a low loss of ductility was observed in both directions,which is another advantage of hTCEE *** measurements revealed a slight increment of hardness values in the peripheral direction,which is in agreement with the trend of tensile *** analysis was conducted in order to determine the oriental distribution of the *** obtained{111}pole figures demonstrate the texture evolution and reaffirm the anisotropy observed in mechanical *** electron microscopy micrographs showed that different modes of fracture occurred after tensile testing in the two orthogonal directions.

Soil Organic Carbon Stock as Affected by Land Use/Cover Changes in the humid Region of Northern Iran

This study was conducted to determine the changes in the soil carbon stocks as influenced by land use in a humid zone of Deylaman district(10,876 ha), a mountainous region of northern Iran. For this, land use maps were produced from TM and ETM+ images for 1985, 2000 and 2010 years; and this was supplemented by field measurement of soil carbon in 2010. The results showed that the mean soil organic carbon(SOC) density was 6.7±1.8 kg C m-2, 5.2±3.4 kg C m-2 and 3.2±1.8 kg C m-2 for 0-20 cm soil layer and 4.8±1.9 kg C m-2, 3.1±2 kg C m-2 and 2.7±1.8 kg C m-2 for 20-40 cm soil layer in forest, rangeland and cultivated land, respectively. During the past 25 years, 14.4% of the forest area had been converted to rangeland; and 28.4% of rangelands had been converted to cultivated land. According to the historical land use changes in the study area, the highest loss of SOC stocks resulted from the conversion of the forest to rangeland(0.45×104 Mg C in 0-40 cm depth layer); and the conversion of rangeland to cultivated land(0.37×104 Mg C in 0-40 cm), which typically led to the loss of soil carbon in the area studied. The knowledge on the historical land use changes and its influence on overall SOC stocks could be helpful for making management decision for farmers and policy managers in the future, for enhancing the potential of C sequestration in northern Iran.

Age-specific reference ranges of prostatespecific antigen in the elderly of Amirkola: A population-based study

Objective:To determine the age-specific reference ranges of prostate-specific antigen(PSA)in the older men in the city of ***:This cross-sectional study is a part of Amirkola health and Ageing Project(AhAP)which has been conducted as a cohort study since 2011 in Amirkola,a city in northern *** demographic information of all men aged 60 and older were collected through questionnaires and interviews and the PSA measurements were performed using ELISA and Diametra *** acquired data were analyzed ***:A number of 837 elderly men with a mean age of 69.99±7.72 years participated in this *** serum PSA level(95th percentile)was determined to be 0.9(0-4.89)ng/mL in the age group of 60-64 years,1.1(0-4.88)ng/mL in the age group of 65-69 years,0.93(0-9.01)ng/mL in the age group of 70-74 years,1.3(0-7.95)ng/mL in the age group of 75-79 years,1.9(0-11.98 ng/mL)in the age group of 80-84 years,and 1.45(0-33.17)ng/mL in the 85 and older *** serum PSA level was significantly correlated with age(p=0.000).Conclusion:This study indicated that there is a direct correlation between the age and serum PSA *** use of age-specific reference range could guide clinicians on the incidence of prostate cancer in this population and perhaps reduce the number of unnecessary tests in this population group.

Solar radiation-based method for early design stages to balance daylight and thermal comfort in office buildings

There is a lack of facade design methods for early design stages to balance thermal comfort and daylight provision that consider the obstruction angle as an independent variable without using modeling and *** paper aims to develop easy-to use solar radiationbased prediction method for the design of office building facades(i.e.,design parameters:room size,window-to-floor ratio,and glazing thermal/optical properties)located in urban canyons to balance daylight provision according to the European standard EN 17037:2018 and thermal comfort through specific cooling *** used a simulation-based methodology that includes correlation analyses between building performance metrics and design parameters,the development of design workflows,accuracy analysis,and validation through the application of the workflows to a new development office building facades located in Tallinn,*** validation showed that the mean percentage of right/conservative predictions of thermal comfort classes is 98.8%whereas for daylight provision,it is higher than 75.6%.The use of the proposed prediction method can help designers to work more efficiently during early design stages and to obtain optimal performative solutions in much shorter time:window sizing in 73,152 room combinations in 80 s.

Experimental investigation of the impact of sugarcane molasses on the properties of colloidal gas aphron(CGA)drilling fluid

Colloidal gas aphron(CGA)based fluid has become very popular in drilling in the last two decades,as it reduces formation damages *** this study,sugarcane molasses(Mls)was used for the first time as a polymer in CGA-based to investigate its ability to improve the role of aphronized fluid as a drilling *** results showed that increasing the concentration of Mls to 12%(v/v)in CGA-based fluid reduces the drainage rate and increases half-life to 10.6 min,resulting in enhanced stability of the aphronized ***,because of increasing Mls concentration from 1%to 12%(v/v),the yield and the initial gas hold-up decrease to 74%and 299.4 mL,respectively,indicating that the presence of Mls allows less air into the aphron *** the rheological properties were improved in this study,the gel strength did not change ***,the results showed that by increasing the concentration of Mls,the average size of the bubbles decreases,and the particle-size distribution becomes more ***,the API filtration test revealed that the higher the Mls concentration in the aphronized fluid,the lower the fluid loss,and at the Mls concentration of 12%(v/v),the fluid loss was estimated at 19.54 mL.A natural polysaccharide with high molecular weight,Mls can be used as a polymer in CGAbased fluid and,thus,improve its performance.

Can magnetic resonance imaging differentiate muscle invasion(T2)and lamina propria invasion(T1)urothelial carcinoma of the bladder?A systematic review and meta-analysis of Vesical Imaging-Reporting and Data System accuracy

Background:Vesical Imaging-Reporting and Data System(Ⅵ-RADS)was developed as a structured reporting tool to anticipate the possibility of muscle *** study is aimed to investigate the diagnostic accuracy ofⅥ-RADS for discriminating T2 from T1 bladder *** and methods:Scopus,Web of Science,PubMed,and Embase were searched on October 4,2021,for studies with the following characteristics:(1)bladder cancer patient population,(2)Ⅵ-RADS as an index test,(3)retransurethral resection of bladder tumor/cystectomy as a reference,and(4)adequateⅥ-RADS score data for T1 and T2 *** analyses were performed using the binary regression model of MIDAS in ***:Six studies with 624 magnetic resonance imaging reports were *** receiver operating characteristics curve for differentiation of T2 from T1 bladder cancer showed an area under the curve of 0.93(95%confidence interval[CI],0.91-0.95)for aⅥ-RADS≥3 and 0.75(95%CI,0.71-0.79)for aⅥ-RADS≥4.AⅥ-RADS≥3 showed high sensitivity of 93%(95%CI,85%-97%),specificity of 61%(95%CI,30%-86%),positive likelihood ratio of 2.4(95%CI,1.1-5.3),and negative likelihood ratio of 0.11(95%CI,0.05-0.24).A total of 10.4%of T2 lesions were scored asⅥ-RADS 2,while 10%of T1 lesions were scored asⅥ-RADS 4 or ***:TheⅥ-RADS≥3 has high accuracy and sensitivity for detecting muscle invasion in borderline populations of T1 or T2 bladder ***,theⅥ-RADS could be a good non-invasive screening test for the detection of T2 urothelial lesions.
