The Isfahani style represents a method of traditional Iranian architecture and urban development that existed in the early 20th century and is regarded as a leading model in most traditional Iranian cities. It exhibits several vigorous features contributing to its recognition as a traditional approach to sustainable architecture and urban development. This research endeavors to reveal a theoretical framework beneath these inspiring aspects using the typology of sustainable modern forms, including the hierarchy, passive design strategies, compactness, density, diversity, mixed land use, pluralism, balance, good composition, and integration over time. To this end, the study employs qualitative research methods, drawing from traditional samples, to identify innovative, energy and socially efficient, and low-impact strategies implemented in this vernacular architecture of Iran's semi-arid and hot climates. The findings revealed that the neighborhood concept as a local and plural community (Mahalla) was a vital phenomenon in Iran's urban development. Apparently, the demise of this paradigm effectively played an important role in the numerous challenges regarding the social, energy, and economic viability of modern Iranian cities. hence, this study presented theoretical frameworks—aligned with sustainable concepts—from the Isfahani style through its analysis, classification, and interpretation, which can contribute to modern urban development.

Extensive neurodegeneration is a hallmark of traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI) that underlies permanent sensorimotor and autonomic impairments (Alizadeh et al.,2019).Following the primary impact,the spinal cord undergoes a cascade of secondary injury mechanisms that are driven by disruption of the blood-spinal cord ba rrier,vascula r inju ry,glial reactivity,neu roinfla mmation,oxidative stress,lipid peroxidation,and glutamate excitotoxicity that culminate in neuronal and oligodendroglial cell death,demyelination,and axonal damage(Alizadeh et al.,2019).To achieve a meaningful functional recovery after SCI,regeneration of new neurons and oligodendrocytes and their successful growth and integration within the neural network are critical steps for reconstructing the damaged spinal cord tissue (Fischer et al.,2020).

Finite element (FE) coupled thermal-mechanical analysis is widely used to predict the deformation and residualstress of wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) parts. In this study, an innovative single-layermulti-bead profilegeometric modeling method through the isosceles trapezoid function is proposed to build the FE model of theWAAMprocess. Firstly, a straight-line model for overlapping beads based on the parabola function was establishedto calculate the optimal center distance. Then, the isosceles trapezoid-based profile was employed to replace theparabola profiles of the parabola-based overlapping model to establish an innovative isosceles trapezoid-basedmulti-bead overlapping geometric model. The rationality of the isosceles trapezoid-based overlapping model wasconfirmed by comparing the geometric deviation and the heat dissipation performance index of the two overlappingmodels. In addition, the FE-coupled thermal-mechanical analysis, as well as a comparative experiment of thesingle-layer eight-bead deposition process show that the simulation results of the above two models agree with theexperimental results. At the same time, the proposed isosceles trapezoid-based overlappingmodels are all straightlineprofiles, which can be divided into high-quality FE elements. It can improve the modeling efficiency andshorten the simulation calculation time. The innovative modeling method proposed in this study can provide anefficient and high-precision geometricmodelingmethod forWAAMpart FE coupled thermal-mechanical analysis.

Intelligent solubility estimation of gaseous hydrocarbons in ionic liquids

The research focuses on evaluating how well new solvents attract light hydrocarbons, such as propane,methane, and ethane, in natural gas sweetening units. It is important to accurately determine the solubility of hydrocarbons in these solvents to effectively manage the sweetening process. To address this challenge, the study proposes using advanced empirical models based on artificial intelligence techniques like Multi-Layer Artificial Neural Network(ML-ANN), Support Vector Machines(SVM), and Least Square Support Vector Machine(LSSVM). The parameters for the SVM and LSSVM models are estimated using optimization methods like Genetic Algorithm(GA), Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO), and Shuffled Complex Evolution(SCE). Data on the solubility of propane, methane, and ethane in various ionic liquids are collected from reliable literature sources to create a comprehensive database. The proposed artificial intelligence models show great accuracy in predicting hydrocarbon solubility in ionic liquids. Among these, the hybrid SVM models perform exceptionally well, with the PSO-SVM hybrid model being particularly efficient computationally. To ensure a comprehensive analysis, different examples of hydrocarbons and their order are included. Additionally, a comparative analysis is conducted to compare the AI models with the thermodynamic COSMO-RS model for solubility analysis. The results demonstrate the superiority of the AI models, as they outperform traditional thermodynamic models across a wide range of data. In conclusion, this study introduces advanced artificial intelligence algorithms such as ML-ANN, SVM, and LSSVM in accurately estimating the solubility of hydrocarbons in ionic liquids. The incorporation of optimization techniques and variations in hydrocarbon examples improves the accuracy, precision, and reliability of these intelligent models. Local scour around pipelines crossing rivers or in marine environments is a significant *** can lead to failure of the pipelines resulting in environmental side effects and economic *** study developed an experimental method to reduce local scour around pipelines with a steady flow of clear water by installing cylindrical and cubical sacrificial *** sizes of sacrificial piles were examined in a linear *** piles were installed on the upstream side of the pipeline at three *** scour depth reduction rates below the pipeline were *** results showed that sacrificial piles could protect a pipeline from local scour.A portion of scoured sediment around the sacrificial piles was deposited beneath the *** sediment accumulation reduced the scour depth beneath the *** of the experimental results demonstrated that the size of piles(d),the spacing between piles,and the distance between the pipe and piles(Xp)were the variables that reduced the maximum scour beneath the pipeline with a diameter of *** the piles with d=0.40D and 0.64D,X_(p)=4OD was the optimal distance to install a group of piles,and cubical piles could mitigate scour more effectively than cylindrical piles under similar *** the piles with d=D,the greatest reduction in scour depth was achieved at X_(p)=50D with any desired spacings between piles,and cylindrical piles in this dimension could protect the pipeline against scour more effectively than cubical piles.

Polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS)is a common endocrine disorder characterized by a hormonal imbalance that affects females of reproductive *** association between advanced glycation end products(AGEs)and PCOS has attracted considerable attention in recent years,highlighting the potential of AGEs as biomarkers for this *** the present systematic review and meta-analysis,we aimed to examine the association between AGEs and PCOS,evaluate their potential as biomarkers,and improve our understanding of the pathophysiology of PCOS and its associated metabolic complications.A literature search was performed using various databases from January 2000 to March 2023 to identify relevant studies investigating the association between AGEs and *** effect estimates were calculated using standardized mean differences(SMD)with 95%confidence intervals(CIs).Sub-group and meta-regression analyses were performed to examine potential sources of *** meta-analysis included six studies with a total of 623 *** results revealed a significant increase in circulating AGE levels in females with PCOS compared to healthy females(SMD=2.35;95%CI:1.10-3.60;Pheterogeneity was observed between the studies(I2=96.37%;Phe presence of several factors influencing the ***-group analyses based on body mass index,age,and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance indicated differential effects of AGEs on specific *** systematic review and meta-analysis support the association between elevated AGE levels and PCOS,thereby suggesting the potential role of AGEs as biomarkers in PCOS.
