Role of cytomegalovirus on the maturation and function of monocyte derived dendritic cells of liver transplant patients

AIM: To study the impact of association between cytomegalovirus(CMV) pathogenesis with dendritic cell(DC) maturation and function was evaluated in CMV reactivated liver transplanted patients in comparing with non-reactivated ones, and healthy controls. METHODS: Monocyte derived dendritic cells(Mo DCs) was generated from collected ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid-treated blood samples from patient groups and controls. In these groups, expression rates and mean fluorescent intensity of DC markers were evaluated using flowcytometry technique. Secretion of cytokines including: interleukin(IL)-6, IL-12 and IL-23 were determined using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay methods. The gene expression of toll-like receptor 2(TLR2), TLR4 and IL-23 were analyzed using in-house real-time polymerase chain reaction ***: Results have been shown significant decreases in: Expression rates of Mo DC markers including CD83, CD1 a and human leukocyte antigen DR(HLA-DR), the mean fluorescence intensitys for CD1 a and HLA-DR, and secretion of IL-12 in CMV reactivated comparedwith non-reactivated liver transplanted patients. On the other hand, significant increases have been shown in the secretions of IL-6 and IL-23 and gene expression levels of TLR2, TLR4 and IL-23 from Mo DCs in CMV reactivated compared with non-reactivated liver transplanted recipients. CONCLUSION: DC functional defects in CMV reactivated recipients, such as decrease in expression of DC maturation markers, increase in secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, and TLRs can emphasize on the importance of CMV infectivity in development of liver rejection in transplanted patients.

A single-end adaptive-optics(AO)module is experimentally demonstrated to mitigate the emulated atmospheric turbulence efects in a bi-directional quantum communication link,which employs orbital angular momentum(OAM)for data encoding.A classical Gaussian beam is used as a probe to detect the turbulence-induced wavefront distortion in the forward direction of the *** on the detected wavefront distortion,an AO system located on one end of the link is used to simultaneously compensate for the forward and backward ***,with emulated turbulence and when the probe is turned on,the mode purity of photons carrying OAMℓ=1 is improved by∼21%with AO *** also measured the performance when encoding data using OAM{ℓ=−1,+2}and{ℓ=−2,+1}in the forward and backward channels,respectively,at 10 Mbit/s per channel with one photon per pulse on *** this case,we found that the AO system could reduce the turbulence efects increased quantum-symbolerror-rate(QSER)by∼76%and∼74%,for both channels in the uni-directional and bi-directional cases,*** QSER improvement is observed for the opposite direction channels in the bi-directional case.

Purpose:The purpose of the present study was to investigate the differences between diseases,geriatric syndrome and medication use among sedentary and active community-dwelling elderly in ***:In this cross-sectional study,465 community-dwelling elderly men aged 60-95 living independently in Tehran city,Iran participated *** the evaluation of PA(physical activity)levels,subjects were divided into two(active elderly and sedentary elderly)*** age-related geriatric syndromes and diseases were measured by questionnaires and functional *** analysis was performed using SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences)statistical software version 21 and p-value of0.05).It can be stated that higher PA level plays an effective role in the improvement of many age-related disorders and successful aging.

Objective:According to the World Health Organization,the number of infected people with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)in 2019 was about 38 *** combinational antiretroviral therapy in recent years has increased life expectancy in these people and HIV has been changed from a deadly disease to a chronic ***-associated neurological disorders(HAND)include asymptomatic neurological disorders,Motor neurological disorders,and HIV-associated ***:We searched 3 databases(PubMed,Science Direct and Scopus databases)from January 2015 to March 2021 for the keywords;HIV associated with a neurocognitive disorder,HAND and combinational antiretroviral therapy to provide careful consideration of various aspects of these disorders,including;risk factors,their diagnostic methods,their epidemiology,and finally the treatment of ***:In the initial search,we came across 1351 *** authors did the title-abstract screening,and 270 articles were entered into full-text screening from the previous *** authors did the full-text screening,and the screening outcome was 21 *** categorized the results of our study into sub-categories,including:risk factors,pathogenicity,clinical manifestations,diagnosis,and epidemiology of ***:Although the HAND subheading has made great strides,many questions about the disease remain unanswered,and many of the diagnosing established methods are not 100%accurate and as a result of that,this epidemy can’t be fully endured *** hope to find and apply further advances and more definitive solutions in the coming decades.

Purpose:Injuries are one of the leading causes of death and lead to a high social and financial *** patterns can vary significantly among different age groups and body *** study aimed to evaluate the relationship between mechanism of injury,patient comorbidities and severity of ***:The study included trauma patients from July 2016 to June 2018,who were admitted to Sina Hospital,Tehran,*** inclusion criteria were all injured patients who had at least one of the following:hospital length of stay more than 24 h,death in hospital,and transfer from the intensive care unit of another *** collection was performed using the National Trauma Registry of Iran minimum ***:The most common injury mechanism was road traffic injuries(49.0%),followed by falls(25.5%).The mean age of those who fell was significantly higher in comparison with other mechanisms(p<0.001).Severe extremity injuries occurred more often in the fall group than in the vehicle collision group(69.0%vs.43.5%,p<0.001).Moreover,cases of severe multiple trauma were higher amongst vehicle collisions than injuries caused by falls(27.8%vs.12.9%,p=0.003).Conclusion:Comparing falls with motor vehicle collisions,patients who fell were older and sustained more extremity *** injured by motor vehicle collision were more likely to have sustained multiple trauma than those presenting with *** of the relationship between mechanisms and consequences of injuries may lead to more effective interventions.

The National Spinal Cord Injury Registry of Iran(NSCIR-IR)is a not-for-profit,hospital-based,and prospective observational registry that appraises the quality of care,long-term outcomes and the personal and psychological burden of traumatic spinal cord injury in *** validity in every registry includes rigorous attention to data *** quality assurance is essential for any registry to make sure that correct patients are being enrolled and that the data being collected are *** reviewed strengths and weaknesses of the NSCIR-IR while considering the methodological guidelines and recommendations for efficient and rational governance of patient *** summary,the steering committee,funded and maintained by the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran,the international collaborations,continued staff training,suitable data quality,and the ethical approval are considered to be the strengths of the registry,while limited human and financial resources,poor interoperability with other health systems,and time-consuming processes are among its main weaknesses.
