In this work,the natural nanozeolite clinoptilolite（Nano CP） was successfully functionalized by propylsulfonic acid and applied as efficient heterogeneous catalyst for the synthesis of quinoxaline derivatives in aqueous *** nanocatalyst was characterized by various techniques such as CHN,XRD,FT-IR,BET,TGA/DTA,SEM,TEM and *** results show its applicability as green,reusable and promising catalyst in organic *** was found that the nanocatalysts could be recycled and reused eight times without significant loss of catalytic activities.

A simple synthesis of highly functionalized 2,5-diaminofurans based pyrimidine derivatives from 1-（carboxymethyl）uracil via a multi-component reaction is described. The reactive 1：1 intermediate produced from the reaction of tert-butyl isocyanide and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates was trapped at room temperature by 1-（carboxymethyl）uracil derivatives to yield polyfunctio- nalized furan rings in fairly good yields.

The deactivation of nickel catalysts used in Arak and Razi petrochemical complexes followed by catalyst regeneration was evalu-ated. The characterization of the different structures was made by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),and carbon & sulfur analyzer. The Ni particle size was estimated from XRD patterns and TEM graphs. The agglomeration of nickel particle and the poison by sulfur components were recognized as the main reasons in deactivation of Arak and Razi catalysts,respectively. The activity of the used catalysts before and after regeneration was measured on methane steam reforming at a CH4:H2O ratio of 1:3 at 850 oC. The regeneration processes for Arak and Razi samples were performed with CO2 as an oxidative atmosphere and steam as a regenerating agent,respectively. The results show that,(1) no residual sulfur components were on the regenerated Razi catalyst surface without changing the structure of the catalyst and the regenerated catalyst has gained 80% of its catalytic activity,and that(2) the nickel particle size of regenerated Arak specimen decreased remarkably as measured by Debye-Scherrer equation from XRD patterns. TEM images were in agreement with the XRD results and indicated a decrease in nickel particle size of regenerated catalyst. Additionally,in both regenerated catalysts all the coke on the surface of the support was eliminated after regeneration.

Prevalence and genotype distribution of Enterobius vermicularis among kindergarteners in Shiraz and Khorramabad cities, Iran

Objective: To study the prevalence and genotype of Enterobius(E.)vermicularis from adhesive tape samples in the cities of Shiraz and Khorramabad, Iran. Methods: A total of 1 000 adhesive tape samples from kindergartens in Shiraz(500 samples) and Khorramabad(500 samples) were collected and tested using a microscope to find E. vermicularis egg/s. A questionnaire was filled out for each sample. In order to characterize the genotype of E. vermicularis, the PCR-sequencing method of the mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit 1(cox1) gene was used. Genomic DNA was extracted from the positive scotch tape samples of E. vermicularis. The cox1 gene was amplified by the polymerase chain reaction and sequenced. The sequence data were aligned using the BioEdit software and compared with the published sequences in GenBank. Phylogenetic analysis was performed using the maximum likelihood method. Results: The parasitological method showed that 15 out of the 500 samples from Shiraz(3.00%) and 12 out of the 500 samples from Khorramabad(2.40%) were infected with E. vermicularis eggs. BLAST analysis indicated that the sequenced isolates belonged to E. vermicularis genotype B while three different haplotypes were also identified. Conclusions: This is the first study on genotyping E. vermicularis in the cities of Shiraz and Khorramabad. Considering the public health importance of the disease, further studies are necessary to characterize the genotype of E. vermicularis in human populations from other regions of Iran.

Ocular trauma treated with pars plana vitrectomy: early outcome report

AIM： To evaluate demographic variables and visual outcomes, among patients with ocular injuries involving the posterior segment, managed with pars plana vitrectomy.· METHODS： The records of patients were studied retrospectively from March to September 2010, to determine the age, gender, place of occurrence of trauma, visual acuity, anatomical site, nature of injury,wound length, the presence of an afferent pupillary defect, and the timing of vitrectomy. The Ocular Trauma Score was measured. The minimum follow-up from presentation was 6mo.·RESULTS： Ninety patients（77 males, 13 females）, with a mean age of 32.7 ±15.8y were included over the 6-month period. The majority of cases occurred in the workplace（47 patients）, followed by home（14 patients）.The mean visual acuity（log MAR） of patients significantly improved from 2.36 ±0.72 preoperatively to 1.50 ±1.14 postoperatively. Twenty-three patients had preoperative vision better than 2.0 log MAR, the postoperative visual acuity was significantly better among these patients than patients with worse than 2.0 log MAR（P 〈0.001）. Visual improvement between groups with early vitrectomy（〉7d）and delayed vitrectomy（〉7d） was not significantly different（P =0.66）. Postoperative visual acuity was not significantly different between patients with injury in Zone I and II（P =0.64）, but patients with injury in Zone III had significantly poorer visual acuity（P =0.02）. Patients with relative afferent pupillary defect had significantly poorer postoperative visual acuity（P =0.02）. Preoperative visual acuity, the difference of preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, and postoperative visualacuity were significantly different between groups with different ocular trauma scores（P〈 0.001）.·CONCLUSION： Trauma is more likely to occur in men under 40 y of age and in the workplace. AIM: To determine the prevalence of gluten sensitive enteropathy (GSE) in a large group of patients with iron deficiency anemia (IDA) of obscure origin. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, patients with IDA of obscure origin were screened for GSE. Anti- endomysial antibody (EMA) and tissue transglutamin- ase antibody (tTG) levels were evaluated and duodenal biopsies were taken and scored according to the Marsh classification. The diagnosis of GSE was based on a positive serological test and abnormal duodenal histol- ogy. Gluten free diet (GFD) was advised for all the GSE patients. RESULTS: Of the 4120 IDA patients referred to our Hematology departments, 206 (95 male) patients were found to have IDA of obscure origin. Thirty out of 206 patients (14.6%) had GSE. The mean age of GSE pa- tients was 34.6 ± 17.03 (range 10-72 years). The female to male ratio was 1.3:1. Sixteen patients had Marsh 3,12 had Marsh 2, and 2 had Marsh 1 lesions. The sever- ity of anemia was in parallel with the severity of duode- nal lesions. Twenty-two GSE patients (73.3%) had no gastrointestinal symptoms. Fourteen GSE patients who adhered to GFD without receiving iron supplementation agreed to undergo follow up visits. After 6 mo of GFD, their mean hemoglobin levels (Hb) increased from 9.9 ± 1.6 to 12.8 ± 1.0 g/dL (P < 0.01). Interestingly, in 6 out of 14 patients who had Marsh 1/2 lesions (e.g. no villous atrophy) on duodenal biopsy, mean Hb increased from 11.0 ± 1.1 to 13.1 ± 1.0 g/dL (P < 0.01) while they did not receive any iron supplementation. CONCLUSION: There is a high prevalence (e.g. 14.6%) of GSE in patients with IDA of obscure origin. Gluten free diet can improve anemia in GSE patients who have mild duodenal lesions without villous atrophy.

We present an annotated checklist for a total 241 reptiles and 22 amphibians including 5 frogs, 9 toads, 7 newts and salamanders, 1 crocodile, 1 worm lizard, 148 lizards, 79 snakes and 12 turtles and tortoises, includes the most scientific literature up to August 2014 and also based on several field surveys conducted in different Provinces of Iran from 2009 to 2014. We present an up-to-dated checklist of reptiles and amphibians in Iran. We provide a comprehensive listing of taxonomy, names, distribution and conservation status of all amphibians and reptiles of Iran. This checklist includes all recognized named taxa, English names for classes, orders, families, species, subspecies along with Persian names for species, including indication of native and introduced species. For the first time we report two non-native introduced reptiles from natural habitats of Iran. Of the total 22 species of amphibians in Iran, 6（27.2%） are endemic and of the total 241 species of reptiles, 55（22.8%） are endemic. Of the 22 amphibians species in Iran, 3（13%） are Critically Endangered, 2（9%） are Vulnerable and of the 241 reptile species 3（1.2%） are Critically Endangered, 4（1.6%） are Endangered and 10（4.1%） are Vulnerable. Accordingly, this paper combines significant aspects of taxonomy, common names, conservation status and distribution of the Iranian herpetofauna.
