A QUICK AND GREEN IONIC LIQUID-MEDIATED APPROACH FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE, ORGANOSOLUBLE AND THERMALLY STABLE POLYIMIDES

Three diamine monomers with different derivatives of imidazole heterocyclic ring and meta-linked aryl ethers were synthesized and used in polycodensation reaction with various commercial dianhydrides for preparation of a series of novel poly（ether-imide）（PEI）s. The polycodensation reactions were carried out by using conventional method and in a green medium of ionic liquid （il） without using NMP-pyridine-acetic anhydride. The PEIs were obtained in good yields （80%-96%） with moderate viscosity （0.48-0.66 dL/g） in a shorter reaction time （10 h） in il as compared with the conventional method （36 h）. All of the polymers were amorphous in nature, showed excellent solubility in amide-type polar aprotic solvents with ability to form tough and flexible films, and excellent thermal stability with Tgs in the range of 212-340℃ and 10% weight loss temperature （T10） up to 570℃ in N2 and 528 ℃ in air.

Objective:To investigate the effects of powdered silver zeolite(SZ)on the in vitro growth of the fish pathogen Saprolegnia ***:The antifungal activity of SZ was evaluated by determining the minimum inhibitory concentrations using two-fold serial dilutions of powdered SZ in a glucose yeast extract agar at 22℃.The growth of Saprolegnia *** the SZ agar treatments was compared to that on SZ-free agar ***:The results showed that SZ had an inhibitory effect on the in vitro growth of the tested *** minimum inhibitory concentration of SZ for Saprolegnia *** also calculated at 600 mg/L,which is equal to 0.06 ***:SZ is a potential good candidate to replace teratogenic and toxic agents,such as malachite green in aquaculture systems.

The current work experimentally explores and then theoretically examines the lateral vibrations of an unbalanced Jeffcott rotor-system working at several unbalance *** this end,three conditions of eccentric masses are considered by using a Bently Nevada RK-4 rotor *** of the steady-state as well as the startup data at rigid and flexible rotor states are captured by conducting a setup that mimics the vibration monitoring industrial *** linear governing equation of the considered rotor is extracted by adopting the Lagrange method on the basis of rigid rotor assumptions to theoretically predict the lateral *** dynamic features of the rotor system such as the linearized bearing induced stiffness are exclusively acquired from startup *** is demonstrated that,with an error of less than 5%,the proposed two-degrees-of-freedom model can predict the flexural vibrations at rigid *** at flexible condition,it fails to accurately predict the dynamic *** contrast to the other works where nonlinear mathematical models with some complexities are proposed to mathematically model the real systems,the present study illustrates the applicability of employing simple models to predict the dynamic response of a real rotor-system with an acceptable accuracy.

Polymorphisms of interleukin-1R receptor antagonist genes in patients with chronic hepatitis B in Iran

AIM： To investigate the relationships between polymorphisms of interleukin-1R receptor antagonist genes and susceptibility to chronic hepatitis B in Iran population. METHODS： Genomic DNA was extracted from the peripheral blood of 80 patients with chronic hepatitis B （57 males, 23 females） aged 12-77 years （mean 36.1 ± 13.8 years） and 147 normal controls （96 males, 51 females） aged 6-75 years （mean 41 ± 18.7 years） who referred to a liver clinic of Tehran and then subjected to polymerase chain reaction （PCR） amplification. PCR products were resolved on a 3% agarose gel and stained with ethidium bromide. RESULTS： Only three of the five kinds of polymorphism （2/2, 2/4, and 4/4） were found in this study. The frequencies of 2/2, 2/4, and 4/4 were 12.5%, 17.5%, 70% respectively in chronic hepatitis B patients and 6.8%, 24.5%, and 68.7% respectively in controls. il-1 R allele 2 was detected in 30% of chronic hepatitis B patients and in 31.3% of controls, while il-1 R allele 4 was detected in 87.5% of chronic hepatitis B patients and in 93.2% of controls. The frequency of il-1R alleles 2 and 4 was detected in 21.25% and 78.75% of the patients and 19.04% and 80.96% of the controls, respectively. CONCLUSION： Our results suggest that the carriage of il-1R receptor antagonist alleles 2, 4, 6 may not play any role in the development of HBV infection. Large population-based studies are needed to investigate the role of il-1 polymorphisms in the pathogenesis of developing chronic hepatitis B.

Interactive effects of drought stress and chitosan application on physiological characteristics and essential oil yield of Thymus daenensis Celak

Thymus daenensis, a perennial herb, is often grown in areas that experience drought conditions during its growing period. Application of chitosan may compensate for the negative impact of drought stress on the yield of oil and secondary metabolites in *** interactive effects of foliar application of chitosan and drought stress on dry matter,essential oil yield, and selected physiological characteristics including photosynthetic pigments, osmotic adjustment, and lipid peroxidation of Thymus were investigated in a two-year study from 2014 to 2015. Treatments consisted of 0, 200, and 400(il L'1 chitosan applied to plants grown under field capacity, mild drought stress(50% field capacity), and severe drought stress(25% field capacity). Dry matter yield decreased substantially as drought stress intensified. However, essential oil content increased under stress conditions,with the highest essential oil yield obtained from plants under mild drought stress. Foliar application of chitosan compensated to some extent for dry matter and oil yield reduction of plants grown under drought stress. The highest essential oil yield(1.52 g plant-1) was obtained by application of 400 \il L_1 chitosan under the mild stress condition in 2015 when plants were mature. The compensatory effect of chitosan in reducing the negative impact of stress conditions on dry matter and oil yield was due mainly to stimulation of osmotic adjustment through proline accumulation and reduction of lipid peroxidase level, which increased the integrity of cell membranes of thyme leaves.

Adjuvant activity of Pasteurella multocida A strain,Pasteurella multocida B strain and Salmonella typhimurium bacterial DNA on cellular and humoral immunity responses against Pasteurella multocida specific strain infections in Balb/c mice

Objective: To evaluate the effects of Pasteurella multocida(P. multocida) vaccines on the expression and release of antibodies, interleukin(il)-6 and il-12 by serum. Methods: Balb/c mice were immunized with two formalin and iron inactivated vaccine doses within 2 weeks. The vaccines were adjuvant with P. multocida A strain, P. multocida B strain and Salmonella typhimurium bacterial DNA(AbDNA, BbDNA and SbDNA for short, respectively). The animals were challenged 4 weeks after immunization. Blood of mice was collected to detect the change of specific antibody, il-6, and il-12 using ELISA. Results: The specific antibody and interleukins in the immunized group increased significantly compared to the control mice after vaccination and challenge(Pilled whole-cell antigen adjunct with AbDNA. The time-courses of release showed that bacterial DNA was able to stimulate il-6 and il-12 production more than alum(Pilled P. multocida antigen is a new and effective adjuvant to enhance specific immunity and resistance of animal against the infectious pathogen, which could simplify the development of highly promising strong adjuvant.

Effects of different periods of renal ischemia on liver as a remote organ

AIM:To assess the hepatic changes after induction of different periods of renal ischemia. METHODS:Rats were subjected to either sham operation or ischemia (30,45 and 60 min) followed by 60 min reperfusion. Liver and renal functional indices were measured. Hepatic glutathione (GSH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power levels and the concentration of interleukin (il)-10 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) were evaluated. Portions of liver and kidney tissues were fixed for histological evaluation. RESULTS:Forty-five minutes renal ischemia followed by 60 min reperfusion caused significant changes in liver structure and a significant reduction in renalfunction. These rats showed a significant decrease in liver GSH,as well as a significant increase in TNF-α and il-10 concentrations. These results demonstrated that renal ischemia caused changes in liver histology,function,oxidative stress and inflammatory status,which led to a reduction in hepatic antioxidant capacity. With 30 min ischemia,the magnitude of these changes was less than those with 45 or 60 min ***:A minimum of 45 min ischemia is needed to study the effects of renal injury on the liver as a remote organ.

Analysis of Bacterial Cellulose/Ionic Liquid MWCNTs via Cyclic Voltammetry

Cyclic voltammetry based on an electrochemical technique is one of the current methods that measure the developments of the electrochemical properties in biomaterial samples under conditions. Biomaterial structure was changed by conductive material while these materials caused a connective network in whole of them and was able to transfer electrons inside of biomaterials. These changes in physical and chemical properties are investigated by analysis tools such as cyclic voltammetry (CV), X-radiation (XRF) and Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis). Bacterial cellulose is biodegradable, biosynthesis of A. xylinum which is a three-dimensional nano-network structure with a distinct tunnel and pore structure. In this study, the composite process produced electrically conducting bacterial cellulose pellicles containing well-dispersed and embedded multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) Ionic liquids (ils), as observed in cyclic voltammetry (CV). For this purpose, we used a special tool, called OriginLab which is an industry-leading scientific graphing and data analysis software. The cyclic voltammetry graph presents the behavior of this composite which consists of a relationship between CNT dispersion, conductivity rate and changes in bacterial cellulose structure. The electrical conductivity of the cellulose/MWCNT composite was found different with respect to CNT dispersion. It was found that the incorporation process was a useful method not only for dispersing MWCNTs-ils in an ultrafine fibrous network structure, but also for enhancing the electrical conductivity of the polymeric membranes.

Common infection and allergy induced biomarkers status in respiratory diseases among Iranian Hajj pilgrims

Background: The sources of respiratory disorders commonly occurred during the Hajj ceremony are now challenging and its infectious or allergic nature remained unknown. The present comprehensive study was conducted to assess sources of respiratory disorders in Hajj pilgrims. Method: In this prospective observational study, blood samples of 130 pilgrims were taken for assessment of serum levels of infectious and allergic sources. The measurement of IgA, IgG, IgM was used for assessment of infectious reactions against microbial antigens, NBT test was employed to assess phagocytic functions, and the measurement of gamma interferon was used for assessing immunity status against infections. Also, measurement of IgE and il-4 was applied as two markers for assessing allergic reactions. The ELISA test was also used to assess serum levels of immunoglobulin A, G, M, E, il-4 and gamma interferon before and three weeks after returning from Hajj ceremony. All of the volunteers were followed up along the trip and the involved pilgrim’s characteristics were recorded. Results: The present study showed no significant change in the level of allergic biomarkers including IgE and il-4, however the mean levels of IgM, gamma Interferon and NBT test were increased after the trip compared with before that. Conclusion: Infections play a major role in occurrence of respiratory disorders among Hajj pilgrims and thus the role of allergic sources is doubtful.
