Appropriate rock characterization is beneficial in providing a reliable judgment on rock properties which is crucial for the design process of rock engineering ***,it can be difficult to obtain consistent mechanical parameters due to substantial variations in rock *** this research,uniaxial compression tests on dolerite specimens collected from a gold mine in Western Australia showed substantial scatter in the *** categorization based on the P-wave velocities is as accurate as the thin section analysis,which suggests that they can be used together to gain a more accurate initial understanding of the rock types before any laboratory *** quality of specimen preparation and rockemachine interaction greatly affect the test *** instance,non-parallelness of loading platens can lead to considerable scatter of the testing results,which would be perceived as rock *** is suggested that the current testing standards should be modified towards a better control of the loading machine performance and equipment ***,the possibility of pre-existing microcracks in rock,neither detected by the thin section analysis nor by the ultrasonic measurement,must be examined by computed tomography(CT)scanning as they can affect the test *** study will enhance our knowledge about the sources of variability in laboratory test results of rock which is essential for obtaining reliable data.

Simultaneous Employment of Generation Rescheduling and Incentive-based Demand Response Programs for Congestion Management in Case of Contingency

Relieving congestion significantly influences the operation and security of the transmission ***,the congestion alleviation of transmission network in all power systems is ***,it could prevent price spikes and/or involuntary load shedding and impose high expenses on the transimission network,especially in case of ***,the increasing or decreasing generation rescheduling has been used as one of the most imperative approaches for correctional congestion management when a contingency ***,demand response programs(DRPs)could also be a vital tool for managing the ***,the simultaneous employment of generation rescheduling and DRPs is proposed for congestion management in case of *** objective is to reschedule the generation of power plants and to employ DRPs in such a way so as to lessen the cost of *** crow search algorithm is employed to determine the *** accuracy and efficiency of the proposed approach are assessed through the tests conducted on IEEE 30-bus and 57-bus test *** results of various case studies indicate the better performance of the proposed approach in comparison with different approaches presented in the literature.

Warpage and Shrinkage Optimization of Injection-Molded Plastic Spoon Parts for Biodegradable Polymers Using Taguchi, ANOVA and Artificial Neural Network Methods

In this study, it is attempted to give an insight into the injection processability of three self-prepared polymers from A to Z. This work presents material analysis, injection molding simulation, design of ex- periments alongside considering all interaction effects of controlling parameters carefully for green biodegradable polymeric systems, including polylactic acid （PLA）, polylactic acid-thermoplastic poly- urethane （PLA-TPU） and polylactic acid-thermoplastic starch （PLA-TPS）. The experiments were carried out using injection molding simulation software Autodesk Moldflov~~ in order to minimize warpage and volumetric shrinkage for each of the mentioned systems. The analysis was conducted by changing five significant processing parameters, including coolant temperature, packing time, packing pressure, mold temperature and melt temperature. Taguchi＇s [.27 （35） orthogonal array was selected as an efficient method for design of simulations in order to consider the interaction effects of the parameters and reduce spu- rious simulations. Meanwhile, artificial neural network （ANN） was also used for pattern recognition and optimization through modifying the processing conditions. The Taguchi coupled analysis of variance （ANOVA） and ANN analysis resulted in definition of optimum levels for each factor by two completely different methods. According to the results, melting temperature, coolant temperature and packing time had significant influence on the shrinkage and warpage. The ANN optimal level selection for minimiza- tion of shrinkage and/or warpage is in good agreement with ANOVA optimal level selection results. This investigation indicates that PLA-TPU compound exhibits the highest resistance to warpage and shrink- age defects compared to the other studied compounds.

Numerical Prediction of Laminar-to-Turbulent Transition Around the Prolate Spheroid

In this work,the laminar-to-turbulent transition phenomenon around the two-and three-dimensional ellipsoid at different Reynolds numbers is numerically *** the present paper,Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes(RANS)equations with the Spalart-Allmaras,SST k-ω,and SST-Trans models are used for numerical *** possibility of laminar-toturbulent boundary layer transition is summarized in phase diagrams in terms of skin friction coefficient and Reynolds *** numerical results show that SST-Trans method can detect different aspects of flow such as adverse pressure gradient and laminar-to-turbulent transition *** numerical results indicate that the laminar-to-turbulent transition location on the 6:1 prolate spheroid is in a good agreement with the experimental data at high Reynolds numbers.
