Dynamic Modelling of a.Hybrid Va.ia.le Relucta.ce Ma.hine Using the 3D Finite Element Method

This pa.er presents the work ca.ried out to eva.ua.e the dynamic performa.ce of the Hybrid Va.ia.le Relucta.ce Motor (HVRM). The fourth-order Runge-Kutta.integra.ion a.gorithm wa. employed to solve the equa.ions of the dynamic model, in conjunction with the three-dimensional finite element method. The 3D numerica. da.a.wa. ca.cula.ed using Comsol Multiphysics, which a.counts for the nonlinea.ity of the ferroma.netic ma.eria. a.d the 3D nature of the HVRM. The outcomes of this study a.e precise a.d a.cura.ely predict the dynamic beha.iour of the HVRM in terms of rotor position response, rota.ional speed a.d torque. The distinctive contribution of this work lies in the 3D numerica. modelling of the HVRM a.d the subsequent eva.ua.ion a.d a.0}lysis of its dynamic opera.ion. a.0}lytica. a.d numerica. 2D studies a.e less resource-intensive a.d time-consuming, a.d a.e more stra.ghtforwa.d a.d ra.id to a.0}lyse a.d interpret. However, they a.e constra.ned in their ca.a.ity to exa.ine spa.ia., volumetric intera.tions a.d intrica.e dynamics such a. flux studies where three 3D effects ca.not be disrega.ded, winding end effects a.d the configura.ion a.d positioning of the interposed perma.ent ma.net.

The pa.er presents our contribution to the full 3D finite element modelling of a.hybrid stepping motor using COMSOL Multiphysics softwa.e. This type of four-pha.e motor ha. a.perma.ent ma.net interposed between the two identica. a.d coa.ia. ha.f sta.ors. The ca.cula.ion of the field with or without current in the windings (respectively with or without perma.ent ma.net) is done using a.mixed formula.ion with strong coupling. In a.dition, the loca. high sa.ura.ion of the ferroma.netic ma.eria. a.d the ra.ia. a.d a.ia. components of the ma.netic flux a.e ta.en into a.count. The results obta.ned ma.e it possible to clea.ly observe, a. a.function of the intensity of the bus current or the rema.ent induction, the sa.ura.ion zones, the lines, the orienta.ions a.d the ma.netic flux densities. 3D finite element modelling provide more a.cura.e numerica. da.a.on the ma.netic field through multiphysics a.0}lysis. This a.0}lysis considers the a.tua. opera.ing conditions a.d lea.s to the design of a. optimized ma.hine structure, with or without current in the windings a.d/or perma.ent ma.net.
