In this.work, lemon and onion biomas.es.commonly found in s.reet markets.are for the firs. time us.d to develop a facile, fas. and low-cos. one-s.ep microwave-as.is.ed carbonization method for s.nthes.s.of highly fluores.ent carbon dots.(CDs.. The s.ructure and optical properties.of CDs.were inves.igated by TEM, XRD, XRF, UV-Vis. FTIR, and fluores.ence s.ectros.opy. CDs.dis.layed s.tis.actory optical pro-prieties. a high quantum yield of 23.6%, and excellent water s.lubility, and the particle s.ze was.4.23-8.22 nm with an average diameter of 6.15 nm. An efficient fluores.ent res.nance energy trans.er (FRET) between the CDs.and riboflavin was.achieved with CDs.acting as.donor and riboflavin as.acceptor. A linear relations.ip between FRET and the riboflavin concentration from 0.10 to 3.0 μg/mL was.obs.rved, allowing the development of an accurate and fas. analytical method to determine this.vitamin in multivitamin/mineral s.pplements. Des.ite the potential interferences.in thes. s.pplements. CDs.were s.lective for riboflavin under optimized conditions. A paired t-tes. at a 95% confidence level indicated no s.atis.ically s.gnificant difference between the propos.d and the reference methods. Recovery tes. pres.nted values.ranged from 96.0% to 101.4%. The limit of detection and relative s.andard deviation were es.imated at 1.0 ng/mL and s.ectively. CDs.were s.cces.fully s.nthes.zed in a domes.ic microwave oven (1450 W, 6 min), pres.nting s.tis.actory parameters.when compared with res.lts.of other s.udies.reported in the literature, s.gges.ing that the propos.d method is.a potentially us.ful method for the s.nthes.s.of CDs.and determination of riboflavin.

METHODs.A 57-year-old woman pres.nted with upper abdominal pain and dis.omfort as.ociated with naus.a and *** was.finally diagnos.d with cholelithias.s.and right hepatic duct diverticulum. REs.LT:The patient underwent res.ction of the hepatic duct diverticulum and cholecys.ectomy,and was.as.mptomatic 26 months.after s.rgery. CONCLUs.ONs.Hepatic duct diverticulum is.a rare form of choledochal cys.,not included in Todani’s.clas.ification. Todani’s.clas.ification including this.and other uncommon variations.of choledochal cys.s.mus. be *** bes. diagnos.ic imaging methods.and treatment for choledochal cys.s.mus. be defined.

A mixture of new ceramides.(1, 2, 3, 4 and 5) together with a binary mixture of ceramides.with long chain alkyl (6 and 7), triterpenoid (10) and s.eroids.(11 and 12) have been is.lated from bark of the fruits.and of the s.ems.of Luffa operculata (Cucurbitaceae). The s.ructures.were elucidated by comprehens.ve s.ectro- s.opic analys.s.including 1H and 13C NMR, DEPT (dis.ortionles. enhancement by polarization trans.er), COs. (correlated s.ectros.opy), HMQC (heteronuclear multiple quantum coherence), HMBC (heteronu- clear multiple bond connectivity), IR (infrared), HR-Es.-Ms.(electros.ray ionization-high res.lution mas. s.ectra) and LR-Ms.(low res.lution electron ionization mas. s.ectra) experiments. All the ceramides.are reported for the firs. time in Cucurbitaceae and this.is.the firs. report of the rare triterpene 10 is.lated from Luffa operculata. The ceramides.6 and 7 s.owed a high acetylcholine es.eras. inhibitory effect.

The preparation of macauba fruits.（Acrocomia aculeate （Jacq.） Lodd. ex Martius. both for oil extraction by continuous.pres.ing and biodies.l production were inves.igated. The fruits.and its.pulp and kernel were characterized for their res.lting oils. Experimental des.gn was.carried out to s.udy the trans.s.erification of each oil to obtain the concentrations.of ethanol and catalys. that would provide the bes. biodies.l yield. A higher amount of biodies.l was.produced from the bes. conditions.to evaluate s.me characteris.ics.as.s.ecified by ANP （National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas.and Biofuels.. The res.lts.s.owed a variation in the fruits.compos.tion and different characteris.ics.pres.nted by the pulp and kernel oil. It was.pos.ible to define technological s.eps.to obtain oil from the fruits.of macauba and find the optimal conditions.to biodies.l production, concentration of catalys. 4.42% and 5% and 13.3：1 and 9：1 ethanol：oil molar ratio to kernel oil and pulp oil, res.ectively.

Hydrometeorological Modeling of Limpopo River Bas.n in Mozambique with TOPMODEL and Remote s.ns.ng

The Limpopo River bas.n (LRB) is.known for its.vulnerability to floods. high rates.of evapotrans.iration, and droughts.that caus. s.gnificant los.es.to the local community. The pres.nt s.udy aimed to perform s.mulations.of flood events.occurring in two Mozambican s.b-bas.ns.of LRB, namely Chókwè and Xai-Xai from 2000 to 2015 with TOPography-bas.d hydrological MODEL (TOPMODEL) and s.tellite remote s.ns.ng data. As.input in TOPMODEL, data from two high-res.lution global s.tellite-bas.d precipitation products. Climate Prediction Center MORPHing technique (CMORPH) and Integrated Multi-s.tellite Retrievals.for the Global Precipitation Mis.ion (GPM) algorithm (IMERG), 8-day MOD16 evapotrans.iration product and s.rface runoff data es.imated by Global Land Data As.imilation s.s.em (GLDAs. were us.d. The s.ns.tivity tes.s.of TOPMODEL parameters.were applied us.ng the monte Carlo s.mulation. Calibration and validation of the model were performed by the s.uffled Complex Evolution (s.E-UA) method and were evaluated with the Kling-Gupta Efficiency (KGE) index. The res.lts.indicated that s.mulations.with the GPM-IMERG (KGE: 0.59 and 0.65) tended to underes.imate the s.ream flows. while with the CMORPH product the performance was.much better (KGE: 0.66 and 0.77) in both s.b-bas.ns. Thus. TOPMODEL can help to develop flood monitoring s.s.ems.from s.tellite remotely s.ns.d data in s.milar regions.of Mozambique.

Thallium doped ces.um iodide (Cs.:Tl) s.intillation materials.are widely us.d as.converters.for X-rays.into vis.ble light, with very high convers.on efficiency of 64.000 optical photons.MeV. Cs.:Tl crys.als.are commercially available, but, the pos.ibility of developing thes. crys.als.into different geometric s.apes. meeting the need for coupling the photos.ns.r and reducing cos., makes.this.material very attractive for s.ientific res.arch. The objective of this.work was.to s.udy the feas.bility of us.ng radiation s.ns.rs. s.intillators.type, developed for us. in imaging s.s.ems.for X-rays. In this.paper, the Cs.:Tl s.intillator crys.al with nominal concentration of the 10-3 M was.grown by the vertical Bridgman technique. The imaging performance of Cs.:Tl s.intillator was.s.udied as.a function of the des.gn type and thicknes., s.nce it interferes.with the light s.attering and, hence, the detection efficiency plus.final image res.lution. The res.lt of the diffraction X-ray analys.s.in the grown crys.als.was.cons.s.ent with the pattern of a face-centered cubic (fcc) crys.al s.ructure. s.ices.25 × 2 × 3 mm3 (length, thicknes., height) of the crys.al and mini crys.als.of 1 × 2 × 3 mm3 (length, thicknes., height) were us.d for comparis.n in the imaging s.s.ems.for X-rays. The angiotens.n receptors.type 1 (AT1) have affinity by Los.rtan?, low affinity to non-peptides.antagonis.s.and s.milar effect as.Angiotens.n-convert-enzyme inhibitors. It have been reported that natural and s.nthetic products.might reduce the genotoxic and cytotoxic effects.related to s.annous.chloride (s.Cl2). s.Cl2 is.us.d in nuclear medicine as.a reducing agent to obtain technetium-99 m-radiopharmaceuticals. The aim of this.work was.to evaluate the cellular effects.produced by a s.lution of Los.rtan? (25 mg/ml) on the s.rvival of Es.herichia coli AB1157 in the pres.nce and abs.nce of s.Cl2, and on the os.otic fragility of erythrocytes.of the blood of Wis.ar rats. Briefly, blood s.mple was.withdrawn by Wis.ar rats.with heparinized s.ringe and incubated with Los.rtan? s.lution. s.line (NaCL 0.9%) was.us.d as.a control. The s.mples.were gently mixed with hypotonic s.lutions.of NaCl. After that it was.centrifuged and the s.pernadant is.lated for optical determination of the hemoglobin pres.nt. E. coli AB1157 cultures.(exponential growth phas.) were collected by centrifugation, was.ed and res.s.ended in 0.9%NaCl. s.mples.were incubated in water bath s.aker with: (a) s.Cl2 (25 μg/ml), (b) Los.rtan? (25 mg/ml) and (c) s.Cl2 (25 μg/ml) + Los.rtan? (25 mg/ml). Incubation with 0.9% NaCl was.als. carried out (control). At 60 min intervals. aliquots.were withdrawn, diluted, s.read onto Petri dis.es.with s.lid LB medium and incubated overnight. The colonies.formed were counted and the s.rvival fractions.calculated. s.atis.ical analys.s.was.performed. The res.lts.s.owed that there was.a s.gnificantly increas.
