Chemokine-mimetic plerixafor derivative for tumorspecific delivery of nanomaterials

Here, we report that chemokine-mimetic plerixafor derivatives could govern tumor-specific delivery and functional effects of nanomaterials. Reduced graphene oxide （rGO） nanosheets were used as a model functional nanomaterial, and plerixafor-conjugated lipid （PL/rGO） or a benzylcyclam derivative of plerixafor- conjugated lipid （BPL/rGO） was physically adsorbed onto the surface of rGO. The cellular uptake of surface-modified rGO was dependent on overexpression of the CXCR4 chemokine receptor on cancer cells. In KB cells, the binding affinity of BPL/rGO for CXCR4 was 6.8-fold greater than that of PL/rGO. Notably, cellular uptake patterns correlated with in vitro photothermal anticancer efficacy. The tumor distribution of BPL/rGO was higher than that of PL/rGO and plain rGO in mice bearing CXCR4-overexpressing tumors, whereas the distribution of the various rGO forms was similar in mice harboring CXCR4-negative tumors. Moreover, complete photothermal tumor ablation was observed in BPL/rGO- treated mice bearing CXCR4-positive KB cell tumors, but not in CXCR4-negative MCF-7 cell tumors. These results provide evidence that BPL can be used to enhance the delivery of nanomaterials to CXCR4-overexpressing tumors. Chemokine-mimetic BPL can be further applied for nanomaterial-based delivery of photosensitizers, anticancer drugs, or diagnostic tumor imaging agents in CXCR4-overexpressing cancer patients.

Molecular bridge-mediated ultralow-power gas sensing

We report the electrical detection of captured gases through measurement of the quantum tunneling characteristics of gas-mediated molecular junctions formed across *** gas-sensing nanogap device consists of a pair of vertically stacked gold electrodes separated by an insulating 6 nm spacer(~1.5 nm of sputteredα-Si and~4.5 nm ALD SiO2),which is notched~10 nm into the stack between the gold *** exposed gold surface is functionalized with a self-assembled monolayer(SAM)of conjugated thiol linker *** the device is exposed to a target gas(1,5-diaminopentane),the SAM layer electrostatically captures the target gas molecules,forming a molecular bridge across the *** gas capture lowers the barrier potential for electron tunneling across the notched edge region,from~5 eV to~0.9 eV and establishes additional conducting paths for charge transport between the gold electrodes,leading to a substantial decrease in junction *** demonstrated an output resistance change of>108 times upon exposure to 80 ppm diamine target gas as well as ultralow standby power consumption of<15 pW,confirming electron tunneling through molecular bridges for ultralow-power gas sensing.

Just in a decade, Seoul Digital Valley is being perceived as a new space in terms of its urban structure, function, and real estate value which has changed from a complex of manufacturing to Knowledge Industry Center. Concerning the rent in knowledge industry centers, its price analysis would be a basic study for discovering how the characteristics of individual buildings or their locations are functioning in a newly transformed urban space or how they are changing their environment, and such analysis is expected to be useful for spatial planning or the real estate market. In light of this, this study aims to analyze the factors that determine the rental fees of knowledge industry centers in Seoul Digital Valley and establish rent determining models which reflect locational characteristics, and through such spatial interpretation, derive policy implications that could be referenced in the redevelopment of other aging industrial complexes.
