0.96(K_(0.5)Na_(0.5-z)li_(z))(Nb_(0.92)Sb_(0.08))O_(3)-0.04(Ca_(0.5)Sr_(0.5))ZrO_(3)[(KN_(0.5-z)l_(z))NS-CSZ]piezoceramics(0≤z≤0.04)were aligned in the[001]orientation using 3%(in mole)NaNbO_(3)templates with a large lotgering factor(>97%).Their crystal structures transformed from the orthorhombic-pseudocubic(O-P)structure to the orthorhombic-tetragonal-pseudocubic(O-T-P)structure with an increasing *** P structure was interpreted as a rhombohedral R3m *** piezoelectricity of the compositions increased after[001]-texturing,and the enhancement was proportional to the O phase *** composition(z=0.03)exhibited the highest piezoelectric constant(d_(33);670 pC/N)and electromechanical coupling factor(k_(p);0.56).Piezoelectric energy harvesters were produced using the untextured and textured samples(z=0.03).The textured harvester delivered a large power density of 26.6 mW/mm^(3),which was larger than that of the untextured harvester owing to the enhanced kp and d_(33)×g_(33) of the textured piezoceramic.A multilayer actuator was produced using the textured sample(z=0.03),and it exhibited a large acceleration(44.2 G)and displacement(±3,730 mm)at±25 ***,the[001]-textured(KN_(0.47)l_(0.03))NS-CSZ piezoceramic is suitable for piezoelectric energy harvesters and actuators.

Transpression occurs in response to oblique convergence across a deformation zone in intraplate regions and plate *** Korean Peninsula is located at an intraplate region of the eastern Eurasian Plate and has been deformed under the ENE–WSW maximum horizontal compression since the late *** this study,we analyzed short-term instrumental seismic(focal mechanism)and long-term paleoseis-mic(Quaternary fault outcrop)data to decipher the neotectonic crustal deformation pattern in the south-eastern Korean ***(paleo-)seismic data acquired from an NNE–SSW trending deformation zone between the Yangsan and Ulleung fault zones indicate spatial partitioning of crustal deformation by NNW–SSE to NNE–SSW striking reverse faults and NNE–SSW striking strike-slip faults,supporting a strike-slip partitioned transpression *** instantaneous and finite neotectonic strains,estimated from the focal mechanism and Quaternary outcrop data,respectively,show discrepan-cies in their axes,which can be attributed to the switching between extensional and intermediate axes of finite strain during the accumulation of wrench-dominated ***,some major faults,including the Yangsan and Ulsan fault zones,are relatively misoriented to slip under the current stress condition but,paradoxically,have more(paleo-)seismic records indicating their role in accommodating the neotectonic transpressional *** propose that fluids,heat flow,and lithospheric structure are potential factors affecting the reactivation of the relatively misoriented major *** findings provide insights into the accommodation pattern of strain associated with the neotectonic crustal extrusion in an intraplate region of the eastern Eurasian Plate in response to the collision of the Indian Plate and the sub-duction of the Pacific/Philippine Sea Plates.

OBJECTIVE:To examine whether color parameters of tongue inspection(TI)using a digital camera was reliable and valid,and to examine which color parameters serve as predictors of symptom patterns in terms of East Asian medicine(EAM).METHODS:Two hundred female subjects'tongue substances were photographed by a mega-pixel digital *** with the photographs,the subjects were asked to complete Yin deficiency,Phlegm pattern,and Cold-Heat pattern *** three sets of digital imaging software,each digital image was exposure-and white balance-corrected,and finally l*(luminance),a*(red-green balance),and b*(yellow-blue balance)values of the tongues *** examine intra-and inter-rater reliabilities and criterion validity of the color analysis method,three raters were asked to calculate color parameters for 20 digital image ***,four hierarchical regression models were ***:Color parameters showed good or excellent reliability(0.627-0.887 for intra-class correlation coefficients)and significant criterion validity(0.523-0.718 for Spearman's correlation).In the hierarchical regression models,age was a significant predictor of Yin deficiency(β=0.192),and b*value of the tip of the tongue was a determinant predictor of Yin deficiency,Phlegm,and Heat patterns(β=-0.212,-0.172,and-0.163).luminance(l*)was predictive of Yin deficiency(β=-0.172)and Cold(β=0.173)***:Our results suggest that color analysis of the tongue using the l*a*b*system is reliable and valid,and that color parameters partially serve as symptom pattern predictors in EAM practice.

Microalgae are photosynthetic microorganisms that function as primary producers in aquatic ecosystems. Some species of microalgae undergo rapid growth and cause harmful blooms in marine ecosystems. Heterocapsa triquetra is one of the most common bloom-forming species in estuarine and coastal waters worldwide. Although this species does not produce toxins, unlike some other Heterocapsa species, the high density of its blooms can cause significant ecological damage. We developed a H. triquetra species-specific nuclease protection assay sandwich hybridization（NPA-SH） probe that targets the large subunit of ribosomal RNA（lSU r RNA）. We tested probe specificity and sensitivity with five other dinoflagellates that also cause red tides. Our assay detected *** at a concentration of 1.5×10^4 cells/m l, more sensitive than required for a red-tide guidance warning by the Korea Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in 2015（3.0×10^4 cells/m l）. We also used the NPA-SH assay to monitor H. triquetra in the Tongyeong region of the southern sea area of Korea during 2014. This method could detect *** cells within 3 h. Our assay is useful for monitoring H. triquetra under field conditions.

We evaluated whether lIM-kinase 2 inhibitor （lIMK2i） could improve erectile function by suppressing corporal fibrosis through the normalization of the Rho-associated coiled-coil protein kinase 1 （ROCK1）/lIMK2/Cofilin pathway in a rat model of cavernous nerve crush injury （CNCl）. Sixty 11-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided equally into five groups： sham surgery （S）, CNCl （I）, and CNCl treated with low-dose （l）, medium-dose （M）, and high-dose （H） lIMK2i. The l, M, and H groups were treated with a daily intraperitoneal injection of lIMK2i （2.5, 5.0, and 10.0 mg kg-1 body weight, respectively） for 1 week after surgery. The erectile response was assessed using electrostimulation at 1 week, postoperatively. Penile tissues were processed for Masson＇s trichrome staining, double immunofluorescence, and Western blot assay. Erectile responses in the H group improved compared with the I group, while the M group showed only partial improvement. A significantly decreased smooth muscle/collagen ratio and an increased content of fibroblasts positive for phospho-/IMK2 were noted in the I group. The M and H groups revealed significant improvements in histological alterations and the dysregulated lIMK2/Cofilin pathway, except for lIMK2 phosphorylation in the M group. The inhibition of lIMK2 did not affect the ROCK1 protein expression. The content of fibroblasts positive for phospho-lIMK2 in the H group returned to the level found in the S group, whereas it did not in the M group. However, the l group did not exhibit such improvements. Our data suggest that the inhibition of lIMK2, particularly with administration of 10.0 mg kg^-1 body weight lIMK2i, can improve corporal fibrosis and erectile function by normalizing the lIMK2/Cofilin pathway.

Plants of the genus Taraxacum, commonly known as dandelions, are used to treat breast cancer in traditional folk medicine. However, their use has mainly been based on empirical findings without sufficient scientific evidence. Therefore, we hypothesized that dandelions would behave as a Selective estrogen receptor modulator （SERM） and be effective as hormone replacement therapy （HRT） in the postmenopausal women. In the present study, in vitro assay systems, including cell proliferation assay, reporter gene assay, and RT-PCR to evaluate the mRNA expression of estrogen-related genes （pS2 and progesterone receptor, PR）, were performed in human breast cancer cells. Dandelion ethanol extract （DEE） significantly increased cell proliferation and estrogen response element （ERE）-driven luciferase activity. DEE significantly induced the expression of estrogen related genes such as pS2 and PR, which was inhibited by tamoxifen at 1 gmol l-1. These results indicated that DEE could induce estrogenic activities mediated by a classical estrogen receptor pathway. In addition, immature rat uterotrophic assay was carried out to identify estrogenic activity of DEE in vivo. The lowest concentration of DEE slightly increased the uterine wet weight, but there was no significant effect with the highest concentration of DEE. The results demonstrate the potential estrogenic activities of DEE, providing scientific evidence supporting their use in traditional medicine.

Kinetics model was developed for the mixed （steam and dry） reforming of methane, which is useful for the control of H2/CO ratio. The equilibrium constants of reaction rate were determined using the experimental equilibrium data at different reaction temperatures, while the forward reaction rate constants were estimated using the experimental data under non-equilibrium （high inert fraction and high space velocity） conditions. The comparison between calculated and experimental data clearly showed that the developed model described satisfactorily, and further analysis using the parametric sensitivity determined the wall temperature and CO2 fraction in the feed gas as effective parameters for the manipulation of ch4 conversion and H2/CO ratio of synthesis gas under the equilibrium condition. Meanwhile, the inert fraction, rather than the residence time, was selected as additional parameter under non-equilibrium condition.

Influence of dehydrating agents on the oxidative carbonylation of methanol for dimethyl carbonate synthesis over a Cu/Y-zeolite catalyst

The influence of the dehydration by metal oxides on the synthesis of dimethyl carbonate （DMC） via oxidative carbonylation of methanol was studied. A Cu/Y-zeolite catalyst was prepared by the ion exchange method from CuCl2.2H2O and the commercial NH4-form of the Y type zeolite, The catalyst was characterized by X-ray fluorescence （XRF）, N2 adsorption （BET method）, X-ray diffraction （XRD）, and temperature-programmed de- sorption of ammonia （NH3-TPD） to evaluate its Cu and Cl content, surface area, structure, and acidity. Reaction tests were carried out using an autoclave （batch reactor） for 18 h at 403 K and 5.5 MPa （2ch3OH ＋ 1/2O2 ＋ CO （ch3O）2CO ＋ H2O）. The influence of various dehydrating agents （ZnO, MgO, and CaO） was examined with the aim of increasing the methanol conversion （XMeOH, MeOH conversion）. The MeOH conversion increased upon addition of metal oxides in the order CaO 〉〉 MgO 〉 ZnO, with the DMC selectivity （SDMC） following the order MgO 〉 CaO 〉 ZnO. The catalysts and dehydrating agents were characterized before and after the oxidative carbonylation of methanol by thermogravimetric and differential thermogravimetric （TG/DTG）, and XRD to con- firm that the dehydration reaction occurred via the metal oxide （MO ＋ H2O →M（OH）2）. The MeOH conversion increased from 8.7% to 14.6% and DMC selectivity increased from 39.0% to 53.1%, when using the dehydrating azent CaO.
