Behcet’s disease (BD) is a large vessel vasculitis with a wide range of clinical manifestations. Some of these manifestation may be life threatening and rapid suppression of the inflammation with effective immunosuppressive agent is crucial. There are traditional drugs with different response rates and all have efficacy on different manifestations of the disease. The most frightening manifestations of the disease are ocular, neurologic, intestinal and vascular types of involvement. Besides benign and easily treated manifestations there are also refractory cases with complicated involvement. The novel biologic agents have been used for these resistant patients and favorable response rates have been reported. In this review, we have shared our experience with biologic agents in BD and also reviewed the literature for the efficacy and safety for these novel agents for refractory patients.

Impact of COVID-19 on the food supply chain

A pandemic is not a new event encountered in the history of humanity because mankind has faced various pandemics in history. The common point of pandemics is their serious negative effects on the global economy. Considering the food supply chain, one of the most important sectors of the economy, it has been seen that COVID-19 has an impact on the whole process from the field to the consumer. In the light of recent challenges in food supply chain, there is now considerable concern about food production, processing, distribution, and demand. COVID-19 resulted in the movement restrictions of workers, changes in demand of consumers, closure of food production facilities, restricted food trade policies, and financial pressures in food supply chain. Therefore, governments should facilitate the movement of workers and agri-food products. In addition, small farmers or vulnerable people should be supported financially. Facilities should change the working conditions and maintain the health and safety of employees by altering safety measures. Food protectionist policies should be avoided to prevent an increase in food prices. In conclusion, each country must realize the severity of the situation and sometimes should tighten or loosen the measures according to the spread of the pandemic. The supply chain also should be flexible enough to respond to the challenges in the food supply chain. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on the agriculture and food sector and to summarize the recommendations required to reduce and control the effect of the pandemic.

Characterization of a newly identified Iipase from a lipase-producing bacterium

BACKGROUND： Lipases differ from one another with respect to certain properties, and such differences can be very important for various industrial applications. Considering the rapidly developing nature of the relevant industries, there is a need for new lipases with characteristics differing from those of existing enzymes. METHODS： In this study, a bacterium was isolated from both the surface mucus layer and gills of rainbow trout （Oncorhynchus mykiss） from Giresun, Turkey. The bacterial species was identified based on its morphological and physiochemieal properties, and on its 16S rDNA sequence. The qualitative activity of the bacterial lipase was determined on Rhodamine B and Tween-20 agar plates. The lipase was partially purified from the supernatant of bacterial cultures, and then characterized. RESULTS： The bacterial strain was identified as Acinetobacter sp. strain SU15. The enzyme from Asp-SU15 exhibits maximum activity toward p-nitrophenyl dodecanoate （C12） at 40℃ and pH 8.0. The specific activity of the lipase was calculated to be 10.059 U·L^-1. The molecular mass of the enzyme was determined to be -62 kDa via SDS-PAGE. However, native-PAGE indicated that the enzyme forms very large active aggregates, with molecular masses exceeding 250 kDa. The catalytic activity of the enzyme is enhanced in the presence of Co^2＋, Ca^2＋, and methanol, but is partially inhibited by Ni2＋, ethyl acetate, and ***： Further research could examine possible industrial applications for the lipase from Asp-SU15.

Ground state energy of He isoelectronic sequence treated variationally via Hylleraas-like wavefunction

In this study, the energy for the ground state of helium and a few helium-like ions （Z=1-6） is computed variationally by using a Hylleraas-like wavefunction. A four-parameters wavefunction, satisfying boundary conditions for coalescence points, is combined with a Hylleraas-like basis set which explicitly incorporates r12 interelectronic distance. The main contribution of this work is the introduction of modified correlation terms leading to the definition of integral transforms which provide the calculation of expectation value of energy to be done analytically over single-particle coordinates instead of Hylleraas coordinates.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) is a serious and potentially life-threatening disease. Vanishing bile duct syndrome (VBDS) is a rare cause of progressive cholestasis. Both syndromes are mostly related with drugs. We report a case of a patient with ciprofloxacin-induced SJS and acute onset of VBDS, and reviewed the related literature. It is the fi rst case of ciprofloxacin-induced VBDS successfully treated with tacrolimus. This case reminds physicians of the importance of drug reactions, their severity, techniques for diagnosis and methods of management.

Idiopathic hirsutism:Is it really idiopathic or is it misnomer?

Determination of the Relationship between Empathy and Compassion Fatigue in Pediatric Clinic Nurses

Background:This study aimed to determine the relationship between compassion fatigue and empathic disposition and skill levels of pediatric clinic ***:This research was carried out as a descriptive and cross-sectional *** research was carried out with 233 nurses determined by using a stratified sampling method from 648 nurses working in two University Hospital and two City Hospital children’s *** were collected using the“Personal Information Form”,“Compassion Scale(CS)”,“Empathic Tendency Scale(ETS)”and“Empathic Skill Scale(ESS)”.Pearson Correlation test,Student’s t-test,ANOVA test,and Scheffe test were used in the analysis of the ***:The mean age of the nurses participating in the study was 30.93±6.23 years,81.1%were women and 54.9%were *** clinic nurses’mean compassion score was 96.29±11.64,empathic tendency mean score was 69.30±8.39,and empathic skill mean score was 140.82±*** to the findings obtained,the mean compassion score of the male,married,and nurses who were not satisfied with working in the pediatric clinics and working in the pediatric emergency clinics was found to be the lowest(p<0.05,p<0.01,p<0.001).The empathic disposition mean scores of the nurses working in the pediatric inpatient clinics,who were satisfied with working in the pediatric clinic,and who did not have the thought of moving to another clinic,were found to be significantly higher(p<0.01,p<0.001).The mean scores of empathic skills of nurses working only during the daytime were found to be significantly higher(p<0.001).Conclusion:This study confirms that pediatric clinic nurses are experiencing compassion fatigue at the end of COVID-19 and how this situation negatively affects their empathic tendencies and *** study highlights the need for both clinical and management-based planning to prevent compassion fatigue and increase empathic tendencies and skills in Pediatric clinic nurses.

Influence of H pylori on plasma ghrelin in patients without atrophic gastritis

AIM:To determine the association between H pylori infection and serum ghrelin levels in patients without atrophic ***:Fifty consecutive patients(24 males and 26 females)with either H pylori-positive gastritis(n = 34)or H pylori-negative gastritis(n = 16)with normal gastric acid secretion determined by 24-h pHmetry and without atrophic gastritis in histopathology were enrolled in this ***-four H pylori-infected patients were treated with triple therapy consisting of a daily regimen of 30 mg lansoprazole bid,1 g amoxicillin bid and 500 mg clarithromycin bid for 14 d,followed by an additional 4 wk of 30 mg lansoprazol treatment.H pylori infection was eradicated in 23 of 34(67.6%)patients.H pylori-positive patients were given eradication *** acidity was determined via intragastric pH *** ghrelin was measured by radioimmunoassay(RIA).RESULTS:There was no signifficant difference in plasma ghrelin levels between H pylori-positive and H pylori-negative groups(81.10 ± 162.66 ng/L vs 76.51 ± 122.94 ng/L).In addition,there was no significant difference in plasma ghrelin levels and gastric acidity levels measured before and 3 mo after the eradication ***:H pylori infection does not influence ghrelin secretion in patients with chronic gastritis without atrophic gastritis.

Some countries have announced national benchmark rates,while others have been working on the recent trend in which the London Interbank Offered Rate will be retired at the end of *** that Turkey announced the Turkish Lira Overnight Reference Interest Rate(TLREF),this study examines the determinants of *** this context,three global determinants,five country-level macroeconomic determinants,and the COVID-19 pandemic are considered by using daily data between December 28,2018,and December 31,2020,by performing machine learning algorithms and Ordinary Least *** empirical results show that(1)the most significant determinant is the amount of securities bought by Central Banks;(2)country-level macroeconomic factors have a higher impact whereas global factors are less important,and the pandemic does not have a significant effect;(3)Random Forest is the most accurate prediction *** action by considering the study’s findings can help support economic growth by achieving low-level benchmark rates.
