Objective:To compare the diagnostic value of the ABCD2 and ABCD3-栺scoring systems in predicting the development of a 30-day neurological event in adult patients with transient ischemic attack(TIA)presenting to the emergency ***:The study was observational and prospective and was conducted in a single *** diagnostic values of the ABCD2 and ABCD3-栺scores in predicting a neurological event within one month were compared in patients diagnosed with TIA in the emergency ***:A statistically significant difference was observed between groups with or without stroke within one month in terms of both the ABCD2 and ABCD3-栺scores(P=0.044 and P=0.029,respectively).There was no statistically significant difference between the patients with and without a recurrent TIA within one month in relation to the ABCD2 score(P=0.934),but a statistically significant difference was found in the ABCD3-栺scores of these groups(P<0.001).Conclusions:Both the ABCD2 and ABCD3-栺scoring systems could predict ischemic stroke within 30 days of TIA,the ABCD3-栺score is more effective than the ABCD2 score in the prediction of TIA recurrence.

Objective: To investigate the effects of probiotic bacteria on cisplatin(CP)-induced nephrotoxicity. Methods: In the present study, 50 Sprague-Dawley rats were used and randomly divided into five groups including control, CP, probiotic bacteria treatment groups with different doses(0.5 and 1 mL) and only probiotic bacteria group. After CP and probiotic administration on seven days, rats sacrificed under anesthesia on the eighth day. The serum urea, creatinine, and blood urea nitrogen levels were analyzed. In renal tissue, malondialdehyde levels, superoxide dismutase and glutathione activity, interleukin-8, interleukin-1β and tumor necrosis factor-alpha levels were determined and histopathological and immunohistochemical changes were also examined. Results: According to results, urea, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels as well as kidney weights increased in CP group. Also, CP induced inflammation, oxidative stress, DNA damage and apoptosis in kidney tissue and caused histopathological changes. Administration of the high dose of probiotic bacteria could prevent these changes and damages. Conclusions: This study reveals that probiotic bacteria has protective effects on CP-induced renal damage in rats.

Modified cable bolts are commonly used in underground mines due to their superior performance in preventing bed separation when compared with plain strands. To better test the axial performance of a wide range of cable bolts,a new laboratory short encapsulation pull test(LSEPT) facility was developed. The facility simulates the interaction between cable bolts and surrounding rock mass,using artificial rock cylinders with a diameter of 300 mm in which the cable bolt is grouted. Furthermore,the joint where the load is applied is left unconstrained to allow shear slippage at the cable/grout or grout/rock *** on this apparatus,a series of pull tests were undertaken using the MW9 modified bulb cable *** parameters including embedment length,test material strength and borehole size were evaluated. It was found that within a limited range of 360 mm,there is a linear relationship between the maximum bearing capacity of the cable bolt and embedment length. Beyond 360 mm,the peak capacity continues to rise but with a much lower slope. When the MW9 cable bolt was grouted in a weak test material,failure always took place along the grout/rock interface. Interestingly,increasing the borehole diameter from 42 to 52 m in weak test material altered the failure mode from grout/rock interface to cable/grout interface and improved the performance in terms of both peak and residual capacity.

Nanotechnology-based drug delivery platforms have been developed over the last two decades because of their favorable features in terms of improved drug bioavailability and *** recent advancement in nanotechnology platforms,this approach still falls short to meet the complexity of biological systems and diseases,such as avoiding systemic side effects,manipulating biological interactions and overcoming drug resistance,which hinders the therapeutic outcomes of the NP-based drug delivery *** address these issues,various strategies have been developed including the use of engineered cells and/or cell membrane-coated *** membrane receptor profiles and characteristics are vital in performing therapeutic functions,targeting,and homing of either engineered cells or cell membrane-coated nanocarriers to the sites of *** this context,we comprehensively discuss various cell-and cell membrane-based drug delivery approaches towards cancer therapy,the therapeutic potential of these strategies,and the limitations associated with engineered cells as drug carriers and cell membrane-associated drug ***,we review various cell types and cell membrane receptors for their potential in targeting,immunomodulation and overcoming drug resistance in cancer.

Dear editor, Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates vary between 7% and 46% and are lower than those for inhospital cardiac arrests (IHCA).[1,2] Therefore, efforts are being made to increase survival rates for out-ofhospital cardiac arrests (OHCA). According to advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) guidelines, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates may be increased by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with minimal interruptions.[3] According to the latest ACLS, does the patient need an advanced airway.

Towards Earthquake Shields: A Numerical Investigation of Earthquake Shielding with Seismic Crystals

Authors numerically demonstrate that the seismic surface waves from an earthquake can be attenuated by a seismic crystal structure constructed on the ground. In the study, seismic crystals with a lattice constant of kilometer are investigated in the aspect of band gaps (Stop band), and some design considerations for earthquake shielding are discussed for various crystal configurations in a theoretical manner. Authors observed in their FDTD based 2D wave simulation results that the proposed earthquake shield can provide a decreasing in magnitude of surface seismic waves. Such attenuation of seismic waves might reduce the damage in an earthquake.

This study examines the development and sedimentology of Can-Etili lignite basin in Biga Peninsula(NW Turkey) along with the palynologic and petrographic properties of the coals in this *** CanEtili lignite basin discordantly overlies Oligocene-aged Can *** basin consists of caldera type sedimentation developed by the combined effects of volcanism and *** volcanic rocks forming the basement of the basin consist of andesitic,dacitic and basaltic lava flows as well as agglomerates,tuff and silicified tuffs,and kaolin which is their alteration *** basement volcanic rocks cooled from high potassium and calc-alkaline *** trace element geochemistry of different rocks within the volcanics reveals that they are from a volcanic *** Can Formation contains lignites and consists of6 lithofacies representing alluvial,fluvial,marsh and lacustrine *** lithofacies are the lower volcanogenic conglomerate,the claystone,the lignite,the laminated organic claystone,the tuff intercalated sandstone-siltstone and the upper volcanogenic *** lignite in the basin is limnic and is formed in a non-fluvial marsh and marsh-lake *** abundant percentage of vegetation(Engelhardia,Sapotaceae,Cyrillaceae) is compatible with temperate and subtropical climatic conditions in the basin during sedimentation of *** coals of Can-Etili basin are humic with high sulfur content(6-6.5%average) mostly containing huminite compounds belonging to the class of lignitelow bituminous(C-A) *** coalification rank is between 0.38%and 0.56%*** coals are formed in limnic-limnotelmatic marsh zones based on their microlithotype *** inorganic components of the coal mostly consist of pyrite and *** trace elements,As,Th,U and V,are higher than international coal *** coal quality is adversely affected by high sulfur content and sulfur driven trace element *** lignite reserve(possible-proved)

New designs and adaptation methods are experimented to ensure compliance to ever increasing emissions and efficiency requirements of modern diesel engines. Piston head structure which influences the mixing rate and timing of the fuel within in the combustion chamber is known to enable increase in combustion efficiency and thus lower emission rates. In this paper, computation analysis of flow within a diesel engine cylinder with a twin swirl combustion chamber design throughout a full cycle is presented. The results obtained indicate that the effect of the twin swirl combustion chamber on the cold flow conditions is noteworthy and further analysis together with experiments may reveal information that may prove to be useful in further new designs.
