Technological improvements are crucial in the evolution of ***-time fluorescence-guided surgery(FGS)has spread worldwide,mainly because of its usefulness during the intraoperative decision-making *** success of any gastrointestinal oncologic resection is based on the anatomical identification of the primary tumor and its regional lymph *** allows also to evaluate the blood perfusion at the gastrointestinal stumps after colorectal or esophageal ***,a reduction on the anastomotic leak rates has been postulated as one of the foreseeable benefits provided by the use of FGS in these *** the use of fluorescence in lymph node detection was initially described in breast cancer surgery,the technique is currently applied in gastric or splenic flexure cancers,as they both present complex and variable lymphatic *** allows also to perform intraoperative lymphograms or sentinel lymph node *** applications of FGS are being developed to assist in the detection of peritoneal metastases or in the evaluation of the tumor resection *** present review aims to provide a general overview of the current status of real-time FGS in gastrointestinal oncologic *** put a special focus on the different applications of FGS,discussing the main findings and limitations found in the contemporary literature and also the promising near future applications.

The new type of deep foundation for buildings on saturated, compressible-low strength clayey soil deposits, branded structural cell essentially consists of a rigid concrete top slab, structurally connected to reinforced concrete peripheral walls （diaphragms） that enclose the natural soil. Accordingly, as the initial volume of the confined soft clays within the lateral stiff diaphragms will remain constant upon loading, the hollowed structural cell will be ＂transformed＂ into a very large cross-section pillar of unit weight slightly higher than that of the natural soft clayey soil. This type of foundation seems to be a highly competitive alternative to the friction pile-box foundations （widely used in Mexico City clays）, due to its economic and environmental advantages. Economies result, for example, from the absence of huge excavations hence sparing the need of earth retaining structures. Further savings result from appreciably smaller concrete volumes required for building the structural cell than the friction pile-box foundation; moreover, the construction time of the former is much shorter than that of the latter. Regarding the impact to the environment, less air contamination follows from the fact that both traffic jams and soil excavation lessen appreciably. Considering these facts and others regarding scheduling, it was decided to replace 48-friction pile-box foundations specified in the master plan project by this new type of foundation. The overall behavior of these cell foundations over a five-year period is fared from close visual observations and their leveling during the first three years after their construction.

The Agatsuma et al’s study shows that despite the evidence of the benefits of an early colorectal cancer(CRC)diagnosis,through screening in asymptomatic subjects,up to 50%of candidates reject this option and many of those affected are diagnosed later,in advanced *** efficacy of screening programs has been well-established for several years,which reduces the risk of CRC morbidity and mortality,without taking into account the test used for screening,or other ***,a significant proportion of patients remain unscreened,so understanding the factors involved,as well as the barriers of the population to adherence is the first step to possibly modify the participation *** barriers could include a full range of social and political aspects,especially the type of financial provision of each health *** Japan,health services are universal,and this advantageous situation makes it easier for citizens to access to these services,contributing to the detection of various diseases,including ***,the symptomatic CRC group had a lower early-stage diagnosis rate than the patients detected during follow-up for other comorbidities,and symptomatic and cancer screening groups showed similar early-stage diagnosis.

The present study evaluates ground-based downward surface shortwave radiation (Rs) over the coastal region of Alicante (Southeastern Spain).Hourly measurements collected over the eleven-year period 2010-2020 are *** weather stations located over the region capital,Alicante,have been selected as representative of urban and suburban *** additional weather stations far from the city have been selected representing rural *** is significantly reduced over the urban station during the morning hours within the winter season compared to the observations recorded over the suburban and rural stations,with a global mean difference of-81 and-120 W/m^(2)at 10 LT,***,no significant differences are obtained during the midday sun,with a global mean difference of-20 W/m^(2)between the urban and rural *** the aim of explaining these differences,the current paper investigates the relationship between Rsand different air pollutants:NOx,SO_(2),and fine particulate matter (PM_(2.5)and PM_(10)) as well as the wind field measured at the urban and suburban *** results found in this work point towards a close relationship between Rsand NOxconcentrations annual cycles,which are also influenced by the prevailing wind circulations observed over the study area.A global mean NOxconcentration of 107μg/m^(3)is observed over the urban station at 10 LT during the winter *** contrast,these high concentrations are significantly reduced over the suburban station,with global mean value of 40μg/m^(3)at 10 LT,for this period of the year.

Phytoplankton samples were collected in Acapulco Bay during 2011 (January-April and September) and 2012 (April-July, October, and November) with the objective of determining the abundance and species composition. Samples were collected in two stations located in the bay. A total of 82 species were identified: 42 dinoflagellates, 35 diatoms, three cyanobacteria, and two silicoflagellates. Dinoflagellates were more abundant in the dry season, while diatoms dominated during rainy season. At least seven dinoflagellate species were recorded as potentially toxic, which may increase their populations and turn into harmful algal blooms (HABs) if environmental conditions within the bay are modified. In April 2012 a HAB of the non-toxic species Neoceratium balechii was documented.

A common denominator between conical-symmetry and conical shock interaction is the spanwise pressure gradient,which perform more non-uniformity and its interactionflow is more complicated than the spanwise-homogeneous planar shock *** advances in conical-symmetry and conical shock interactions with turbulent boundary layer are reviewed in specific areas:(i)quasi-conical swept interactions due to compression ramps and sharpfins,(ii)impinging conical shock wave with interactions of plate wall,(iii)laminar double cone in-teractions with consideration of real-gas *** success has been achieved in describing the phenomena of the time averaged and instantaneousflow features and the low-frequency unsteadiness,including correlations and coherent structures in the separation bubble,through complementary experimental and numerical studies of swept shock *** available observations are here scrutinized to infer underlying mechanisms of interactions in conicalflow,and provide theoretical foundation and hints forfluidic control ***-parison with high-fidelity direct numerical simulations is used to quantified the uncertainty of RANS turbulence models in complex *** heat transfer,extensive studies of hypersonicflow over double cone geometries have shown that those can be predicted with reasonable accuracy,even in the presence of high-temperature effects.

Engineers tend to use different software to perform tasks such as geometry modeling, database management, numerical analysis, and visualization. This may cause decrease of productivity and loss of information during the conversion process between different data file formats. This paper presents a computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided engineering (CAE) system integration using scientific visualization tools and techniques. It deals with the development of a 3D CAD add-in for lighting analysis which uses the CAD model as 3D interface for creating a lighting scheme, processing, and visualizing 2D or 3D illuminance fields. Visualization features as color and contour mapping were developed using the visualization toolkit (VTK) toolkit. The application integrates all functionalities of the 3D CAD with tools for light sources database management, pre-processing, processing, and post-processing of illuminance fields in a single environment. This approach increases productivity and eliminates the need for different software.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)and endoscopic ultrasound elastography(EUS-E)simulation lessens the learning curve;however,models lack realism,diminishing *** To standardize the mechanical properties of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)hydrogel for simulating organs and digestive *** PVA hydrogel(Sigma Aldrich,degree of hydrolysis 99%)for simulating EUS/EUS-E lesions was investigated in Unidad de Investigación y Desarrollo Tecnológico at Hospital General de México“*** Liceaga”,Mexico *** evaluated physical,contrast,elasticity and deformation coefficient characteristics in lesions,applying Kappa’s concordance and satisfaction questionnaire(Likert 4-points).RESULTS PVA hydrogel showed stable mechanical *** depended on molecular weight(MW)and concentration(C).PVA bblocks with the greatest density showed lowest tensile strength(r=-0.8,P=0.01).Lesions were EUSgraphically *** and heterogeneous examples were created from PVA blocks or PVA phantoms,exceeding(MW2=146000-186000,C9=15%and C10=20%)with a density under(MW1=85000-124000,C1=7%and C2=9%).We calculated elasticity and deformation parameters of solid(blue)areas,contrasting with the norm(Kappa=0.8;high degree of satisfaction).CONCLUSION PVA hydrogels were appropriate for simulating organs and digestive lesions using EUS/EUS-E,facilitating practice and reducing *** amplified skills,while reducing the learning curve.

Separation and recovery of critical metal ions using ionic liquids

Separation and purification of critical metal ions such as rare-earth elements （REEs）, scandium and niobium from their minerals is difficult and often deter- mines if extraction is economically and environmentally feasible. Solvent extraction is a commonly used metal-ion separation process, usually favored because of its sim- plicity, speed and wide scope, which is why it is often employed for separating trace metals from their minerals. However, the types of solvents widely used for the recovery of metal ions have adverse environmental impact. Alternatives to solvent extraction have been explored and advances in separation technologies have shown commer- cial establishment of liquid membranes as an alternative to conventional solvent extraction for the recovery of metals and other valuable materials. Liquid membrane transport incorporates solvent extraction and membrane separation in one continuously operating system. Both methods con- ventionally use solvents that are harmful to the environ- ment, however, the introduction of ionic liquids （ILs） over the last decade is set to minimize the environmental impact of both solvent extraction and liquid membrane separation processes. ILs are a family of organic molten salts with low or negligible vapour pressure which may be formed below 100 ~C. Such liquids are also highly thermally stable and less toxic. Their ionic structure makes them thermody- namically favorable solvents for the extraction of metallic ions. The main aim of this article is to review the current achievements in the separation of REE, scandium, niobium and vanadium from their minerals, using ILs in eithersolvent extraction or liquid membrane processes. The mechanism of separation using ILs is discussed and the engineering constraints to their application are identified.
