The use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)for forest monitoring has grown significantly in recent years,providing information with high spatial resolution and temporal *** with multispectral sensors allow the use of indexes such as the normalized difference vegetation index(nDVI),which determines the vigor,physiological stress and photo synthetic activity of *** study aimed to analyze the spectral responses and variations of nDVI in tree crowns,as well as their correlation with climatic factors over the course of one *** study area encompassed a 1.6-ha site in Durango,Mexico,where Pinus cembroides,Pinus engelmannii,and Quercus grisea *** images were acquired with UAV and information on meteorological variables was obtained from nASA/POWER *** AnOVA explored possible differences in nDVI among the three *** correlation was performed to identify the linear relationship between nDVI and meteorological *** differences in nDVI values were found at the genus level(Pinus and Quercus),possibly related to the physiological features of the species and their *** grisea had the lowest nDVI values throughout the year which may be attributed to its sensitivity to relative humidity and *** the use of UAV with a multispectral sensor for nDVI monitoring allowed genera differentiation,in more complex forest analyses hyperspectral and liDAR sensors should be integrated,as well other vegetation indexes be considered.

Exercise interventions for patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus:A narrative review with practical recommendations

Type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM)is a chronic endocrine disease that results from autoimmune destruction of pancreatic insulin-producingβcells,which can lead to microvascular(e.g.,retinopathy,neuropathy,and nephropathy)and macrovascular complications(e.g.,coronary arterial disease,peripheral artery disease,stroke,and heart failure)as a consequence of chronic *** the widely available and compelling evidence that regular exercise is an efficient strategy to prevent cardiovascular disease and to improve functional capacity and psychological well-being in people with T1DM,over 60%of individuals with T1DM do not exercise *** is,therefore,crucial to devise approaches to motivate patients with T1DM to exercise,to adhere to a training program,and to inform them of its specific characteristics(e.g.,exercise mode,intensity,volume,and frequency).Moreover,given the metabolic alterations that occur during acute bouts of exercise in T1DM patients,exercise prescription in this population should be carefully analyzed to maximize its benefits and to reduce its potential risks.

To the Editor:We read with great interest the article by Sun et al^([1])“Comparative analysis of duodenum-preserving head resection and *** most interesting result of the article is that duodenumpreserving pancreatic head resection(DPPHR)has several advantages on perioperative and long-term results”.Unfortunately,after describing all the“modifications of DPPHR(Beger,Frey,and Gloor),”they did not specify which kind of modification was applied to each of the 28 patients that underwent DPPHR.

The United nations(Un)’s call for a decade of“ecosystem restoration”was prompted by the need to address the extensive impact of anthropogenic activities on natural *** ecosystem restoration is increasingly necessary due to increasing habitat degredation in deep waters(>200 m depth).At these depths,which are far beyond those accessible by divers,only established and emerging robotic platforms such as remotely operated vehicles(ROVs),autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs),landers,and crawlers can operate through manipulators and multiparametric sensor arrays(e.g.,optoacoustic imaging,omics,and environmental probes).The use of advanced technologies for deep-sea ecosystem restoration can provide:①high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)imaging and acoustic mapping of substrates and key taxa,②physical manipulation of substrates and key taxa,③real-time supervision of remote operations and long-term ecological monitoring,and④the potential to work ***,we describe how robotic platforms with in situ manipulation capabilities and payloads of innovative sensors could autonomously conduct active restoration and monitoring across large spatial *** expect that these devices will be particularly useful in deep-sea habitats,such as①reef-building cold-water corals,②soft-bottom bamboo corals,and③soft-bottom fishery resources that have already been damaged by offshore industries(i.e.,fishing and oil/gas).

Glial cells play a key role during nervous system development and actively participate in all the cellular processes involved in maintaining its structural robustness and functional *** response to neuronal damage,glial cells proliferate,migrate to the injured region and change their morphology,function,and behavior(Gallo and Deneen,2014;Kato et al.,2018).This glial regenerative response is associated with the repairing function of these cells and is found across species,suggesting that it may reflect a common underlying genetic mechanism(Kato et al.,2018).

Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for plant growth and *** preferentially absorb P as orthophosphate(Pi),an ion that displays low solubility and that is readily fixed in the soil,making P limita-tion a condition common to many soils and Pi fertilization an inefficient *** cope with Pi limitation,plants have evolved a series of developmental and physiological responses,collectively known as the Pi starvation rescue system(PSR),aimed to improve Pi acquisition and use efficiency(PUE)and protect from Pi-starvation-induced *** research has been carried out during the last 20 years to un-ravel the mechanisms underlying the control of the PSR in *** we review the results of this research effort that have led to the identification and characterization of several core Pi starvation signaling components,including sensors,transcription factors,microRnAs(miRnAs)and miRnA inhibitors,kinases,phosphatases,and components of the proteostasis *** also refer to recent results revealing the existence of intricate signaling interplays between Pi and other nutrients and antagonists,n,Fe,Zn,and As,that have changed the initial single-nutrient-centric view to a more integrated view of nutrient ***,we discuss advances toward improving PUE and future research priorities.

Evaluating the influence of air pollution on solar radiation observations over the coastal region of Alicante(Southeastern Spain)

The present study evaluates ground-based downward surface shortwave radiation (Rs) over the coastal region of Alicante (Southeastern Spain).Hourly measurements collected over the eleven-year period 2010-2020 are *** weather stations located over the region capital,Alicante,have been selected as representative of urban and suburban *** additional weather stations far from the city have been selected representing rural *** is significantly reduced over the urban station during the morning hours within the winter season compared to the observations recorded over the suburban and rural stations,with a global mean difference of-81 and-120 W/m^(2)at 10 lT,***,no significant differences are obtained during the midday sun,with a global mean difference of-20 W/m^(2)between the urban and rural *** the aim of explaining these differences,the current paper investigates the relationship between Rsand different air pollutants:nOx,SO_(2),and fine particulate matter (PM_(2.5)and PM_(10)) as well as the wind field measured at the urban and suburban *** results found in this work point towards a close relationship between Rsand nOxconcentrations annual cycles,which are also influenced by the prevailing wind circulations observed over the study area.A global mean nOxconcentration of 107μg/m^(3)is observed over the urban station at 10 lT during the winter *** contrast,these high concentrations are significantly reduced over the suburban station,with global mean value of 40μg/m^(3)at 10 lT,for this period of the year.
