α-MgAgSb based thermoelectric(TE)device attracts much attention for its commercial application because it shows an extremely high conversion efficiency of ~8.5% under a temperature difference of 225 ***,the mechanical behavior of α-MgAgSb is another serious consideration for its engineering ***,we apply density functional theory(DFT)simulations to examine the intrinsic mechanical properties of all three MgAgSb phases,including elastic properties,shear-stress-shear-strain relationships,deformation and failure mechanism under ideal shear and biaxial shear *** find that the ideal shear strength of α-MgAgSb is 3.25 GPa along the most plausible(100)slip *** strength is higher than that of β-MgAgSb(0.80 GPa)and lower than that of γ-MgAgSb(3.43 GPa).The failure of α-MgAgSb arises from the stretching and breakage of MgeSb bond α-MgAgSb under pure shear load,while it arises from the softening of MgeAg bond and the breakage of AgeSb bond under biaxial shear *** suggests that the deformation mechanism changes significantly under different loading conditions.

inorganic semiconductor α-Ag_(2)S exhibits a metal-like ductile behavior at room temperature,but the origin of this high ductility has not been fully explored *** on density function theory simulations on the intrinsic mechanical properties of α-Ag_(2)S,its underlying ductile mechanism is attributed to the following three factors:(i)the low ideal shear strength and multiple slip pathways under pressure,(ii)easy movement of Ag–S octagon framework without breaking Ag−S bonds,and(iii)a metallic Ag−Ag bond forms which suppresses the Ag-S frameworks from slipping and holds them *** easy slip pathways(or easy rearrangement of atoms without breaking bonds)in α-Ag_(2)S provide insight into the understanding of the plastic deformation mechanism of ductile semiconductor materials,which is beneficial for devising and developing flexible semiconductor materials and electronic devices.

The research objectives are to assess the possibility of using drill cutting analysis to obtain information about the mineralogical and geochemical properties of the reservoir *** cutting samples were collected from a vertical well that penetrated the Domanik sediments(Semiluksk Formation)in one of the oil fields in the Volga-Ural petroleum *** sections from drill cuttings were examined using an optical polarizing microscope(Axio imager A2).X-ray diffraction(XRD)analyses were performed using a Brucker D2 Phaser X-ray powder *** properties were studied using an STA 449 F3 Jupiter *** pyrolytic studies were performed using the Rock-Eval *** inspection showed that the studied sediments are alternations of carbonates and siliceous-carbonate *** section examinations revealed that the carbonates are mainly limestone(mudstone and wackestone)and are characterized by a dense texture and up to 30%organic *** siliceous-carbonate rocks are dominated by siliceous mudstones and are characterized by dark colours,layered structure,and an enrichment in organic *** analyses showed that the carbonate rocks are mainly composed of calcite,dolomite,quartz,feldspar,and mica,which are minor *** siliceous-carbonate rocks are dominated by quartz,followed by calcite,although they also contain feldspars,mica,dolomite,and pyrite as *** to the simultaneous thermal analysis,the average total hydrocarbon in the carbonate and siliceous-carbonate rocks is 13.6%(for the core samples)and 11.5%(for the drill cutting samples).The content of heavy hydrocarbons in the rocks is higher than the content of light hydrocarbons,indicating the immature nature of organic *** is found sporadically in siliceous-carbonate *** to the pyrolytic studies,average S1 is 4.4 mg/g and average S2 is 19.8 mg/g(for the core samples);average S1 is 2.1 mg/g and average S2 is 17.8 mg/g(for the

Objective: To analyze outcomes and complications of cytoreductive prostatectomy (CRP) for oligometastatic prostate cancer (PCa) in order to elucidate its role in this ***: We performed a systematic literature search using three databases (Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science). The primary endpoints were oncologic outcomes. The secondary endpoints were complication rates and functional ***: in all studies, overall survival was better or at least comparable variable in the groups with CRP compared to no local treatment. The greatest benefit from CRP in 5-year overall survival in one study was 67.4% for CRP versus 22.5% for no local treatment. Cancer-specific survival (CSS) showed the same trend. Several authors found significant benefits from CSS in the CRP group: from 79% vs. 46% to 100% vs. 61%. CRP was a predictor of better CSS (hazard ratio 0.264, p=0.004). Positive surgical margin rates differed widely from 28.6% to 100.0%. Urinary continence in CRP versus RP for localized PCa was significantly lower (57.4% vs. 90.8%, pincontinence occurred seldom (2.5%-18.6%). Total complication rates after CRP differed widely, from 7.0% to 43.6%. Rates of grades 1 and 2 events prevailed. Patients on ADT alone also showed a considerable number of complications varying from 5.9% to 57.7%.Conclusion: CRP improves medium-term cancer control in patients with oligometastatic PCa. The morbidity and complication rates of this surgery are comparable with other approaches, but postoperative incontinence rate is higher compared with RP for localized disease.

BACKGROUND The etiology of pancreatic cancer remains unclear. This limits the possibility of prevention and effective treatment. Hepatitis B virus(HBV) is responsible for the development of different types of cancer, but its role in pancreatic cancer is still being *** To assess the prevalence of previous HBV infection and to identify viral biomarkers in patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC) to support the role of the virus in etiology of this *** The data of 130 hepatitis B surface antigen-negative subjects were available for the final analysis,including 60 patients with PDAC confirmed by cytology or histology and 70 sex-and age-matched controls. All the participants were tested for HBV biomarkers in blood [antibody to hepatitis B core antigen(anti-HBc), antibody to hepatitis B surface antigen(anti-HBs) and HBV DNA], and for those with PDAC, biomarkers in resected pancreatic tissues were tested(HBV DNA, HBV pregenomic RNA and covalently closed circular DNA). We performed immunohistochemistry staining of pancreatic tissues for hepatitis B virus X antigen and Ki-67 protein. Non-parametric statistics were used for the *** Anti-HBc was detected in 18/60(30%) patients with PDAC and in 9/70(13%) participants in the control group(P = 0.029). Accordingly, the odds of PDAC in anti-HBc-positive subjects were higher compared to those with no previous HBV infection(odds ratio: 2.905, 95% confidence interval: 1.191-7.084, standard error 0.455). HBV DNA was detected in 8 cases of PDAC and in 6 of them in the pancreatic tumor tissue samples only(all patients were anti-HBc positive). Blood HBV DNA was negative in all subjects of the control group with positive results of the serum anti-HBc test. Among 9 patients with PDAC, 5 revealed signs of replicative competence of the virus(covalently closed circular DNA with or without pregenomic RNA) in the pancreatic tumor tissue samples. Fiber-enriched diet helps to control symptoms and improves esophageal motility in patients with non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease

AiM To investigate the effect of dietary fiber on symptoms and esophageal function testing parameters in nonerosive gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)(NERD) *** Thirty-six NERD patients with low(ietary fiber intake were enrolled in the study. They were examined with the use of symptom questionnaire(GERD-Q), highresolution esophageal manometry, 24-h esophageal p Himpedance examinations, and food frequency questionnaire before and after 10 d of usual diet supplemented by psyllium 5.0 g TiD. Complete data of 30 patients were available to the final analysis. The obtained results were analyzed with the use of non-parametric statistics(Wilcoxon matched pairs test). RESULTS The number of patients experiencing heartburn was less(93.3% at baseline vs 40% at the end of the study, P iod. Minimal resting lower esophageal sphincter(LES) pressure increased from 5.41 ± 10.1 to 11.3 ± 9.4 mm Hg(P = 0.023), but no change in residual LES pressure and mean resting pressure was found. Total number of gastroesophageal refluxes(GER) decreased from 67.9 ± 17.7 to 42.4 ± 13.5(P inantly by acid and weak acid types of GERs. No significant change in mean esophageal p H and % of time p H istered. Maximal reflux time decreased from 10.6 ± 12.0 min to 5.3 ± 3.7 min(P iON Fiber-enriched diet led to a significant increase of minimal lower esophageal sphincter resting pressure, a decrease of number of gastroesophageal refluxes, and a decrease of heartburn frequency per week in NERD.
