In this article,authors review the current knowledge of Bartonella infection in small mammals including rodents,insectivores,bats and exotic small mammal pets and their vectors in *** of Bartonella are Gram-negative intracellular bacteria that infect erythrocytes of various mammalian and non-mammalian animals and mainly transmitted by blood sucking arthropod *** genus Bartonella includes several species of important human diseases with severe clinical *** new Bartonella species were isolated from rodents and other small mammals,and from human patients in *** species are identified using standard polymerase chain reaction amplification and a sequencing targeting two housekeeping genes(glt.A and rpoB) and the internal transcribed spacer *** also discuss the implications in term of potential emerging zoonotic diseases.

We summarize the current knowledge on parasitism-related invasion processes of the globally invasive Rattus lineages,originating from Asia,and how these invasions have impacted the local epidemiology of rodent-borne *** play an important role in the invasion processes and successes of their hosts through multiple biological mechanisms such as“parasite release,”“immunocompetence advantage,”“biotic resistance”and“novel weapon.”Parasites may also greatly increase the impact of invasions by spillover of parasites and other pathogens,introduced with invasive hosts,into new hosts,potentially leading to novel emerging *** potential impact is the ability of the invader to amplify local parasites by *** both cases,local fauna and humans may be exposed to new health risks,which may decrease biodiversity and potentially cause increases in human morbidity and *** we review the current knowledge on these processes and propose some research priorities.

This work aimed to classify the categories (produced by different processes) and brands (obtained from different geographical origins) of Chinese soy *** variables of physico-chemical properties (density,pH,dry matter,ashes,electric conductivity,amino nitrogen,salt,viscosity and total acidity) of 53 soy sauce samples were *** measured data was submitted to such pattern recognition as cluster analysis (CA),principal component analysis (PCA),discrimination partial least squares (DPLS),linear discrimination analysis (LDA) and K-nearest neighbor (KNN) to evaluate the data patterns and the possibility of differentiating Chinese soy sauces between different categories and *** clusters corresponding to the two categories were obtained,and each cluster was divided into three subsets corresponding to three brands by the CA *** variables for LDA and KNN were selected by the Fisher F-ratio *** prediction ability of all classifiers was evaluated by *** the three supervised discrimination analyses,LDA and KNN gave 100% predications according to the sample category and brand.

This paper describes a kinetic spectrophotometric method for simultaneous determination of three cephalosporin antibiotics,cephradine,cefaclor and cefixime,with the aid of chemometrics. The method relies on their oxidation with KMnO4 to produce green manganate with different kinetic rates in alkaline medium. The proposed method was successfully applied to a pharmacokinetic study of three cephalosporin antibiotics in rabbit plasma via intravenous injections. The results indicated that the amount of cephradine,cefaclor and cefixime were reduced rapidly in rabbit blood,showing clear dose-dependency and the half-life of cefixime (160 min) was longer than those of cephradine (60 min) and cefaclor (60 min).

The lithological and geochemical composition and conditions of formation of the coal-bearing deposits of the Kizel Coal Basin in the Perm region of the Urals(central Russia)are described using the two most representative sections,Gubakha-Stary Most and Krestovaya Mountain,based on a detailed“layer-by-layer”*** characteristics of the Lower Carboniferous paleosols from fossil paleosol(FPS-)profiles of the studied region are *** attention is paid to the parent vegetation of the coal-forming processes,based on an analysis of both plant macrofossils and *** peat accumulation in conditions of permanent incoming of clastic material from the Paleo-Urals to the Kizel Basin was probably effective only in more or less stable environments,when the accumulated organic matter produced by plant mortmass was not dissolved by clastic ***,the conditions of coal-forming are reconstructed as a forest swamp,where the main dominants are represented by lycopodiopsids of the order Lepidodendrales,predominantly Lepidodendron *** plants in particular were the source of the initial organic matter for the peat(and later coal)of the Kizel Coal Basin.

Field work focused on the Kuedinskie Kluchiki locality, Perm region, Urals, Russia, which contains a rich assemblage of diverse fossil organisms including higher plants(equisetophytes, pteridosperms, ginkgophytes, conifers, vojnovskyans) represented by stems, leaves and reproductive organs;invertebrates(mollusks, arthropods), and tetrapods(temnospondyl amphibians, seymouriamorphs, cotylosaurs, synapsids, diapsids), as well as bony fishes. General characteristics of the taxonomical composition of the Kuedinskie Kluchiki locality are given. A new peltaspermalean pteridosperm taxon, Compsopteris longipinnata sp. nov., and a voltzialean conifer Archaeovoltzia kuedensis sp. nov. are described. General considerations on the paleoecologic and paleogeographic conditions of the Kuedinskie Kluchiki locality origin are given.

Pathogenic aspects of pulmonary complications in acute pancreatitis patients

BACKGROUND:Experimental and clinical observations show that proinflammatory cytokines and oxidative stress are involved in the development of local and particularly systemic complications in acute pancreatitis (AP) patients. There are often pulmonary complications in such patients. The mechanisms through which lung injury is induced in AP are not fully clear. METHODS:In order to assess the role of activated neutrophils, pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines and adhesion molecules at the onset and development of respiratory complications and respiratory failure, we measured the serum levels of pro-inflammatory (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-18, TNF-α) and anti-inflammatory (IL-1ra, IL-10) cytokines in 51 AP patients who had been diagnosed with pancreatitis-associated lung injury with and without the development of organ dysfunction. RESULTS:When admitted to the hospital, severe AP patients had increased concentrations of IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-18, and TNF-α. The concentration of IL-18 alone was considerably increased in the patients who later developed respiratory failure. The onset of acute respiratory distress syndrome in the AP patients was accompanied by an increase in the level of anti-inflammatory cytokines, especially IL-10. It was noted that in severe lung injury, myeloperoxidase activity in the blood increased significantly, but still reflected the processes taking place in the lung parenchyma. Increase in the concentrations of adhesion molecules preceded the development of pulmonary infiltration with respiratory failure symptoms, which provoked endothelial dysfunction and determined the capillary surface permeability for neutrophils and ***:In the pathogenesis of respiratory complications in AP cytokines, chemokines and adhesion molecules, in particular IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, IL-18, TNF-α, ICAM-1, and E-selectin play major roles. We perform the analysis of the hp finite element approximation for the solution to singularly perturbed transmission problems, using Spectral Boundary Layer Meshes. In [12] it was shown that this method yields robust exponential convergence, as the degree p of the approximating polynomials is increased, when the error is measured in the energy norm associated with the boundary value problem. In the present article we sharpen the result by showing that the hp-Finite Element Method （FEM） on Spectral Boundary Layer Meshes leads to robust exponential convergence in a stronger, more balanced norm. Several numerical results illustrating and extending the theory are also nresented.
