Coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19),caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Cov-2),was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation(WHO)on 11 March *** pandemic has had profound effects on healthcare systems across the world,and also poses unique challenges for oncology *** saw its first imported case of COvID-19 on 23 January 2020,and there has since been 52,000 confirmed cases and 27 deaths as of early August 2020 *** have a special duty to our patients to ensure patient safety and provide optimum care without undue disruption which may compromise long-term cancer-specific *** herein examine the impact that the COvID-19 pandemic has had on our clinical services,and share our experience with regards to manpower reconfiguration,infection control measures,diagnostic evaluation of patients with suspected COvID-19,oncological management of lung cancer patients,as well as changes in the education and training of juniors,from our unique position as a Medical Oncology department in Tan Tock Seng Hospital,a tertiary hospital affiliated with the National Centre of Infectious Diseases in Singapore.

A solvable model of lateral line of a fish based on a wave equation with additional boundary conditions on a set of isolated points is *** the framework of this model it is shown that the ratio of pressures on lateral lines on different fish flanks,as well as the cross section of sound scattering on both the lines,strongly depends on angles of incidence of incoming sound *** strong angular dependence of the pressure ratio seems to be sufficient for the fish to determine the directions from which the sound is coming.

New conditions are derived for the l2-stability of time-varying linear and nonlinear discrete-time multiple-input multipleoutput （MIMO） systems, having a linear time time-invariant block with the transfer function F（z）, in negative feedback with a matrix of periodic/aperiodic gains A（k）, k = 0,1, 2,... and a vector of certain classes of non-monotone/monotone nonlinearities φp（-）, without restrictions on their slopes and also not requiring path-independence of their line integrals. The stability conditions, which are derived in the frequency domain, have the following features： i） They involve the positive definiteness of the real part （as evaluated on ｜z｜ = 1） of the product of Г （z） and a matrix multiplier function of z. ii） For periodic A（k）, one class of multiplier functions can be chosen so as to impose no constraint on the rate of variations A（k）, but for aperiodic A（k）, which allows a more general multiplier function, constraints are imposed on certain global averages of the generalized eigenvalues of （A（k ＋ 1）,A（k））, k = 1, 2 iii） They are distinct from and less restrictive than recent results in the literature.

We put forward effective methods of increasing the tensile strain of cementitious composites with 2% PvA fiber and high fly ash content. The test results show that curing condition has a significantly effect on the tensile performance. It is approved that the specimens incorporated appropriate volume fraction rubber powder and lightweight aggregate greatly increase the tensile strain of composites at medium-term age, but indefinitely at long-term age. To a certain extent, EvA can limitedly enhance the tensile performance of comentitious composites owing to the formation of polymer membrane and the hindered hydration of cement.

In this article,we explored the role of adipose tissue,especially mesenteric adipose tissue and creeping fat,and its association with the gut microbiota in the pathophysiology and progression of Crohn’s disease(CD).CD is a form of inflammatory bowel disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract,influenced by genetic predisposition,gut microbiota dysbiosis,and environmental *** microbiota plays a crucial role in modulating immune response and intestinal inflammation and is associated with the onset and progression of ***,visceral adipose tissue,particularly creeping fat,a mesenteric adipose tissue characterized by hypertrophy and fibrosis,has been implicated in CD pathogenesis,inflammation,and *** bacteria from the gut microbiota may translocate into mesenteric adipose tissue,contributing to the formation of creeping fat and influencing CD *** creeping fat may be a protective barrier against bacterial invasion,its expansion can damage adjacent tissues,leading to *** gut microbiota through interventions such as fecal microbiota transplantation,probiotics,and prebiotics has shown potential in managing ***,more research is needed to clarify the mechanisms linking gut dysbiosis,creeping fat,and CD progression and develop targeted therapies for microbiota modulation and fat-related complications in patients with CD.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a complex symptom-based disorder without established biomarkers or putative pathophysiology. IBS is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder which is defined as recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort that has at least two of the following symptoms for 3 d per month in the past 3 mo according to ROME III: relief by defecation, onset associated with a change in stool frequency or onset with change in appearance or form of stool. Recent discoveries revealed genetic polymorphisms in specific cytokines and neuropeptides may possibly influence the frequencies and severity of symptoms, as well as the therapeutic responses in treating IBS patients. This review gives new insights on how genetic determinations influence in clinical manifestations, treatment responses and potential biomarkers of IBS.

Plasma-jet forming is a newly proposed flexible sheet metal forming process. A non-transferred arc plasma torch is used as a controllable heat source to produce internal stress in sheet metals, causing plastic deformation without the necessity of hard tooling. This method has potential for rapid prototyping of sheet metal parts by reducing development costs and lead times. A robotic system has been used to perform simple linear bends in several different alloys. In order to develop a controllable process and to improve the forming accuracy, the effects of various process parameters on the obtained shape changes and on the resulting structure and properties have been studied. The overall goal is to understand the roles of the forming parameters and their inter-relationship in optimizing the forming procedure-a high forming speed without damage to the material structure or properties.
