Self-aligned single-electrode actuation of tangential and wineglass modes using PMN-PT

Considering the evolution of rotation sensing and timing applications realized in micro-electro-mechanical systems(MEMS),flexural mode resonant shapes are outperformed by bulk acoustic wave(BAW)counterparts by achieving higher frequencies with both electrostatic and piezoelectric *** the 1-30 MHz range,which hosts BAW gyroscopes and timing references,piezoelectric and electrostatic MEMS have similar transduction ***,when designed intelligently,electrostatic transduction allows self-alignment between electrodes and the resonator for various BAW modes,misalignment is inevitable regarding piezoelectric transduction of BAW modes that require electrode *** this paper transverse piezoelectric actuation of[011]oriented single crystal lead magnesium niobate-lead titanate(PMN-PT)thin film disks are shown to excite the tangential mode and family of elliptical compound resonant modes,utilizing a self-aligned and unpatterned electrode that spans the entire disk *** resonant mode coupling is achieved by employing a unique property of[011]PMN-PT,where the in-plane piezoelectric coefficients have opposite *** 1-port disk transducers,RF reflection measurements are performed that demonstrate the compound mode family shapes in the 1-30 MHz *** verification of mode transduction is achieved using in-plane displacement measurements with Polytec’s laser Doppler vibrometer(LDV).While the tangential mode achieves a 40°/s dithering rate at 335 kHz resonant frequency,the n=2 wine-glass mode achieves 11.46 nm tip displacement at 8.42 MHz resonant frequency on a radius of 60μm disk resonator in air.A single electrode resonator that can excite both tangential and wine-glass modes with such metrics lays the foundation for a BAW MEMS gyroscope with a built-in primary calibration stage.

Risk factors and prognostic value of acute severe lower gastrointestinal bleeding in Crohn’s disease

BACKGROUND Acute severe lower gastrointestinal bleeding(LGIB)is an uncommon but challenging complication of Crohn’s disease(CD).AIM To identify the predictors of acute severe LGIB and to evaluate the impact of acute severe LGIB on the subsequent clinical course in CD *** A retrospective inception cohort study was conducted in 75 CD patients with acute severe LGIB and 1359 CD patients without acute severe LGIB who were diagnosed between February 1991 and November 2019 at Asan Medical Center,a tertiary university hospital in *** analysis with Cox proportional hazard regression was performed to identify the risk factors for acute severe LGIB.A matched analysis using 72 patients with bleeding and 267 matched patients without within the cohort was also conducted to investigate whether acute severe LGIB is a predictor of clinical outcomes of *** Multivariable Cox regression analysis revealed that early use of thiopurines[hazard ratio(HR):0.23,95%confidence interval(CI):0.12-0.48;Phavioral progression and intestinal resection were not significantly different between the two matched groups(P=0.139 and P=0.769,respectively).The hospitalization rate was higher in the bleeding group than in the matched non-bleeding group(22.1/100 vs 13.2/100 patient-years;P=0.012).However,if hospitalizations due to bleeding episodes were excluded from the analysis,the hospitalization rate was not significantly different between the bleeding group and the matched nonbleeding group(14.5/100 vs 13.2/100 patient-years;P=0.631).CONCLUSION Early use of thiopurines may reduce the risk of acute severe *** of acute severe LGIB may not have a significant prognostic value in patients with CD.

Inspired by erythrocytes that contain oxygen-carrying hemoglobin(Hb)and that exhibit photo-driven activity,we introduce homogenous-sized erythrocyte-like Hb microgel(μGel)systems(5-6μm)that can(i)emit heat,(ii)supply oxygen,and(iii)generate reactive oxygen species(ROS;1O2)in response to near-infrared(NIR)laser *** μGels consist of Hb,bovine serum albumin(BSA),chlorin e6(Ce6)and erbium@lutetium upconverting nanoparticles(UCNPs;~35 nm)that effectively convert 808 nm NIR light to 660 nm visible *** Hb μGels are capable of releasing oxygen to help generate sufficient reactive oxygen species(^(1)O_(2))from UCNPs/Ce6 under severely hypoxic condition upon NIR stimulation for efficient photodynamic ***,the Hb μGels emit heat and increase surface temperature due to NIR light absorption by heme(iron protoporphyrin IX)and display photothermal *** changing the Hb/UCNP/Ce6 ratio and controlling the amount of NIR laser irradiation,it is possible to formulate bespoke Hb μGels with either photothermal or photodynamic activity or both in the context of combined therapeutic *** Hb μGels effectively suppress highly hypoxic 4T1 cell spheroid growth and xenograft mice tumors in vivo.

Decorative coating on Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene （ABS） copolymer is widely used for exterior parts of automotives. The coating thickness distribution is very important for not only appearance but also corrosion resistance. Too thin coating layer will not give enough corrosion resistance. On the other hands too thick coating layer will give dull appearance and will cause the crack. In order to electroplate some materials on ABS, electroless nickel plating is performed firstly because ABS is insulator. After this process, however, surface electrical resistance is quite high because the thickness of electroless nickel is under the 0.5?. Therefore the location of electrical contact of rack which supplies the electricity to an object affects uniformity of plating thickness through the surface of object. This paper analyzed the distribution of plating thickness on specimen with Hull Cell experiment and with computer simulation as well. The experiments and simulations are carried out by changing the location of electrical contact. Both results of experiments and computer simulations are compared respectively. The following figures show results that the locations of electrical contact are in high current density and in low current density respectively. The experiment results are very similar with the results of computer simulations. This paper conclude that the location of electrical contact is very important for obtaining the uniform film thickness on the ABS parts and the computer simulation can be used to figure out optimal position of electrical contact with little experimental effort.

Suppression of Oxidative Stress of Modified Gongjin-Dan (WSY^1075) in Detrusor Underactivity Rat Model Bladder Outlet Induced by Obstruction

Objective： To investigate the anti-oxidative stress and preventive effect of modified Gongjin-dan （WSY-1075） in a detrusor underactivity rat model. Methods： Rats were randomly allocated to three groups： sham- operated （control）, bladder outlet obstruction-induced detrusor underactivity （BOO-DU）, and BOO-DU with WSY-1075 （WSY） groups. WSY-1075 was orally administrated to rats 200 mg daily for 2 weeks pdor to the operation and 4 weeks after the operation. Bladder outlet obstruction was surgically induced in rats by ligation around the urethra avoiding total obstruction. Cystometrography was conducted on rats in each group for examination of bladders. Results： Compared with the control group, bladder outlet obstruction led to a significant increase in oxidative stress with consequent changes to molecular composition, and decrease in maximal detrusor pressure （P〈0.05）. WSY-1075 treatment significantly suppressed oxidative stress and prevented degenerative and dysfunctional changes in bladder, as compared with BOO-DU group （P〈0.05）. Conclusion： WSY-1075 had beneficial effect on prevention of BOO-DU.

Bone diseases such as osteoporosis and periodontitis are induced by excessive osteoclastic activity,which is closely associated with ***(BA)has been used as a cytokine-suppressive or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines or ***,its role in osteoclast differentiation and function remains ***,we explored the role of BA in regulating osteoclast differentiation and elucidated the underlying *** inhibited osteoclast differentiation and strongly suppressed interleukin-1β(IL-1β)*** inhibited osteoclast formation and bone resorption when added to bone marrowderived macrophages and differentiated osteoclasts,and the inhibitory effect was reversed by IL-1β*** reporter assay and the inhibitor study of IL-1βtranscription suggested that BA inhibited nuclear factor-κB and activator protein-1 by regulating IκB kinase,extracellular signal regulated kinase and P38,resulting in the down-regulation of IL-1β*** also promoted osteoblast ***,BA protected lipopolysaccharide-and ovariectomy-induced bone loss in mice,suggesting therapeutic potential against inflammation-induced bone diseases and postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Multiplexed DNA-functionalized graphene sensor with artificial intelligence-based discrimination performance for analyzing chemical vapor compositions

This study presents a new technology that can detect and discriminate individual chemical vapors to determine the chemical vapor composition of mixed chemical composition in situ based on a multiplexed DNA-functionalized graphene(MDFG)nanoelectrode without the need to condense the original vapor or target *** the best of our knowledge,our artificial intelligence(Al)-operated arrayed electrodes were capable of identifying the compositions of mixed chemical gases with a mixed ratio in the early *** innovative technology comprised an optimized combination of nanodeposited arrayed electrodes and artificial intelligence techniques with advanced sensing capabilities that could operate within biological limits,resulting in the verification of mixed vapor chemical *** selective sensors that are tolerant to high humidity levels provide a target for"breath chemovapor fingerprinting"for the early diagnosis of *** feature selection analysis achieved recognition rates of 99%and above under low-humidity conditions and 98%and above under humid conditions for mixed chemical *** 1D convolutional neural network analysis performed better,discriminating the compositional state of chemical vapor under low-and high-humidity conditions almost *** study provides a basis for the use of a multiplexed DNA-functionalized graphene gas sensor array and artificial intelligence-based discrimination of chemical vapor compositions in breath analysis applications.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a nomogram to predict the 1-year survival of patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent pancreatectomy following neoadjuvant treatment with preoperatively detectable clinical parameters. Extended pancreatectomy is necessary to achieve complete tumor removal in borderline resectable and locally advanced pancreatic cancer. However, it increases postoperative morbidity and mortality rates, and should be balanced with potential benefit of long-term ***: The medical records of patients who underwent pancreatectomy following neoadjuvant treatment from January 2005 to December 2016 at Severance Hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Medical records were collected from five international institutions from Japan and Singapore for external ***: A total of 113 patients were enrolled. The nomogram for predicting 1-year disease-specific survival was created based on 5 clinically detectable preoperative parameters as follows: age(year), symptom(no/yes), tumor size at initial diagnostic stage(cm), preoperative serum carbohydrate antigen(CA) 19-9 level after neoadjuvant treatment(hat the model was well calibrated(χ~2=8.24,P=0.5099). A total of 84 patients were used for external validation. As a new class of two-dimensional materials, two-dimensional (2D) heterostructures constructed from metal chalcogenides (MCs) have been gaining tremendous attention due to their unprecedented physical and chemical phenomena, mainly originated from their distinct structural features such as composition, architecture type, spatial arrangement of each component, crystal structure, exposed facet and interface, dimensionality in their heterostructures. Towards the realization of practical applications, synthetic approaches need a rational design with a variety of architecture types including laterally-combined, vertically-aligned, and conformally-coated 2D MC heterostructures. Among various synthetic routes, solution-based synthesis is thought of as an alternative to fabrication through high-cost setups since it can control those structural features in a cheap fashion. This review presents recent progress on solution-based synthesis to produce various 2D MC heterostructures with a focus on the synthetic fundamentals in terms of thermodynamic and kinetic aspects related to the growth mechanism. Four different synthetic approaches are reviewed: seeded growth, cation exchange reaction, colloidal atomic layer deposition, direct synthesis including one-step process and modified electrochemical method. We also provide some representative applications of 2D MC heterostructures and their hybrid composites in various fields including optoelectronics, thermoelectrics, catalysis, and battery. Finally, we offer an insight into challenges and future directions in a synthetic improvement of 2D MC heterostructures.
