Plate osteosynthesis of humeral shaft fractures is an established surgical procedure. Iatrogenic radial nerve palsy appears to be common complication in treating these fractures. A case series of 20 fracture shafts of humerus were treated with anteromedial plating through anterolateral approach. There was no radial nerve palsy in any of the cases and all achieved fracture union.

In the present work, we examine the soliton excitations in the relativistic Toda lattice model using the rotational expansion method, where the coupling between the lattice sites is varied. For specific choices of the coupling strength we proceed to analyze the nonlinear wave excitations arising in the model which are found to be dark, singular and periodic solitary wave profiles. These solitary wave profiles are admitted to show possible modulation in its amplitude.

Data publishing is an area of interest in present day technology that has gained huge attention of researchers and *** concept of data publishing faces a lot of security issues,indicating that when any trusted organization provides data to a third party,personal information need not be ***,to maintain the privacy of the data,this paper proposes an algorithm for privacy preserved collaborative data publishing using the Genetic Grey Wolf Optimizer(Genetic GWO)algorithm for which a C-mixture parameter is *** C-mixture parameter enhances the privacy of the data if the data does not satisfy the privacy constraints,such as the k-anonymity,l-diversity and the m-privacy.A minimum fitness value is maintained that depends on the minimum value of the generalized information loss and the minimum value of the average equivalence class *** minimum value of the fitness ensures the maximum utility and the maximum *** was carried out using the adult dataset,and the proposed Genetic GWO outperformed the existing methods in terms of the generalized information loss and the average equivalence class metric and achieved minimum values at a rate of 0.402 and 0.9,respectively.

Detection of estrogenic disrupting compounds（EDCs） in drinking waters around China has led to rising concerns about health risks associated with these *** is,however,a paucity of studies on the occurrence and identification of the main compounds responsible for this pollution in the source *** fill this void,we screened estrogenic activities of 23 source water samples from six main river systems in China,using a recombinant two-hybrid yeast *** sample extracts induced significant estrogenic activity,with E2 equivalents（EEQ） of raw water ranging from 0.08 to 2.40 ng/***,16 samples were selected for chemical analysis by gas chromatography-mass *** EDCs of most concern,including estrone（E1）,17β-estradiol（E2）,17α-ethinylestradiol（EE2）,estriol（E3）,diethylstilbestrol（DES）,estradiol valerate（EV）,4-t-octylphenol（4-t-OP）,4-nonylphenols（4-NP） and bisphenol A（BPA）,were determined at concentrations of up to 2.98,1.07,2.67,4.37,2.52,1.96,89.52,280.19 and 710.65 ng/l,*** analysis,involving comparison of EEQ values from yeast assay and chemical analysis identified E2,EE2 and 4-NP as the main responsible compounds,accounting for the whole estrogenic activities（39.74% to 96.68%）.The proposed approach using both chemical analysis and yeast assay could be used for the identification and evaluation of EDCs in source waters of China.

Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a β-galactosidase binding protein that modulates various cellular processes including cell adhesion, and metastasis. We evaluated the tumor targeting and imaging properties of a galectin-3 binding peptide originally selected from bacteriophage display, in a mouse model of human breast carcinoma expressing galectin-3. A galectin-3 binding peptide, ANTPCGPYTHDCPVKR, was synthesized with a Gly-Ser-Gly (GSG) spacer and 1,4,7,10, tetraazacyclododecane-N,N’,N’’,N’’’-tetracetic acid (DOTA) or 4,11-bis(carboxymethyl)-1,4,8,11 tetrazabicyclo[6.6.2]hexadecane 4,11-diacetic acid (CB-TE2A), and radiolabeled with 64Cu. The synthesized peptides 64Cu-DO3A-(GSG)-ANTPCGPYTHDCPVKR (64Cu-DO3A- pep) and 64Cu-CB-TE2A-(GSG)-ANTPCGPYTHDCPVKR(64Cu-CB-TE2A-pep) demonstrated an IC50 value of 97 ± 6.7 nM and 130 ± 10.2 nM, respectively, to cultured MDA-MB-435 breast carcinoma cells in vitro in a competitive displacement binding study. The tumor tissue uptake in SCID mice bearing MDA-MB-435 tumors was 1.2 ± 0.18 %ID/g (64Cu-DO3A-pep) and 0.85 ± 0.0.9 %ID/g (64Cu-CB-TE2A-pep) at 30 min, respectively. While liver retention was moderate with both radiolabeled peptides the kidney retention was observed to be high. Radiation dose delivered to the tumor was estimated to be 42 mGy/mCi and 129 mGy/ mCi with CB-TE2A and DO3A peptides, respectively. Imaging studies demonstrated tumor uptake with both 64Cu-DO3A- and 64Cu-CB-TE2A-(GSG)-ANTPCGPYTHDCPVKR after 2 h post injection. These studies suggest that gal-3 binding peptide could be developed into a PET imaging agent for galectin-3-expressing breast tumors.

Nanophotonic waveguides are at the core of a great variety of optical *** structures confine light along defined paths on photonic chips and provide light-matter interaction via an evanescent ***,waveguides still lag behind free-space optics for sensitivity-critical applications such as trace gas *** optical pathlengths,low interaction strengths,and spurious etalon fringes in spectral transmission are among the main reasons why on-chip gas sensing is still in its *** this work,we report on a mid-infrared integrated waveguide sensor that successfully addresses these *** sensor operates with a 107%evanescent field confinement factor in air,which not only matches but also outperforms free-space beams in terms of the per-length optical ***,negligible facet reflections result in a flat spectral background and record-low absorbance noise that can finally compete with free-space *** sensor performance was validated at 2.566μm,which showed a 7 ppm detection limit for acetylene with only a 2 cm long waveguide.

Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) are dioxin-like environmental contaminants. There is growing concern over the endocrine-disrupting effects of PCNs, but very few studies have investigated the effect of PCNs on the thyroid system. This study used a yeast two-hybrid assay, which included the recombinant human thyroid receptor(TR)-β and reporter genes, to characterize the TRβ-disrupting effects of five individual PCN congeners, five PCN Halowax mixtures, and naphthalene. Their agonist and antagonist effects were studied in the absence and presence of 5×10-7 mol/l 3,3′,5-triiodo-l-thyronine, which induced submaximal β-galactosidase activity. Naphthalene, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octachloronaphthalene and all of the Halowax mixtures (Halowax 1000, 1001, 1013, 1014 and 1099) showed no agonist or antagonist activity on TRβ at the concentrations tested (up to 10-2 g/l). The lighter PCN congeners, namely 1-chloronaphthalene, 2-chloronaphthalene, 1,4-dichloronaphthalene and 1,2,3,4-tetrachloronaphthalene showed no agonist activity but showed significant antagonist activity on TRβ. The 20% relative inhibitory concentrations of these PCNs were less than 9.13 × 10-3 g/l. Thus, bioaccumulation of these lighter PCN congeners may disrupt the thyroid hormone system and inhibit TR-mediated cellular responses. Studies in the future should investigate the possible associations between the presence PCNs and adverse health outcomes.
