Responses of Annual Variability of Vegetation NPP to Climate Variables Using Satellite Techniques in Gadarif State, Sudan

Plants play an essential role in matter and energy transformations and are key messengers in the carbon and energy cycle. Net primary productivity (NPP) reflects the capability of plants to transform solar energy into photosynthesis. It is very sensible for factors affecting on vegetation variability such as climate, soils, plant characteristics and human activities. So, it can be used as an indicator of actual and potential trend of vegetation. In this study we used the actual NPP which was derived from mODIS to assess the response of NPP to climate variables in Gadarif State, from 2000 to 2010. The correlations between NPP and climate variables (tem.e.ature and precipitation) are calculated using Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient and ordinary least squares regression. The main results show the following 1) the correlation Coefficient between NPP and mean annual tem.e.ature is Somewhat negative for Feshaga, Rahd, Gadarif and Galabat areas and weakly negative in Faw area;2) the correlation Coefficient between NPP and annual total precipitation is weakly negative in Faw, Rahd and Galabat areas and somewhat negative in Galabat and Rahd areas. This study demonstrated that the correlation analysis between NPP and climate variables (precipitation and tem.e.ature) gives reliably result of NPP responses to climate variables that is clearly in a very large scale of study area.

Individual alcohol consumption by the population of Russia versus regional living conditions

Background:There are substantial regional differences in drinking alcohol in Russia,both at the population and individual ***,the causes of these differences have not been studied ***:The goal of our study was to examine the effect of regional living conditions on individual alcohol consumption by the population of ***:For the analysis,we used data from a cross-sectional epidemiological study conducted in *** final analytical sample included 18,130 people aged 25-64 *** conducted the interviews face to face,based on which any drinking in the last year,as well as alcohol abuse,were considered as a *** abuse was recorded when the respondent consumed 5.75 or more grams of pure ethanol per day(75th percentile of average daily alcohol consumption among alcohol drinkers).The assessment of the regional living conditions was accomplished via integral indexing,which was previously performed based on publicly available data for *** were assessed using generalized scoring equations with unchanging standard *** associations were expressed by odds ratios(OR)and 95%confidence intervals(C).Results:Deterioration of social conditions and increase in demographic depression in the region of residence increased the odds of any drinking(OR 1.51,95%CI:1.33 to 1.72,Pespectively).The odds of alcohol abuse increased with the deterioration of social living conditions and the growth of the industrial development in the region:OR 1.35,95%CI:1.14 to 1.59,Ped assessing the impact of the regional living conditions on individual drinking alcohol in the population of Russia.

Various sectors of the industry are searching for new materials with specific requirements,providing improved *** study presents novel composite materials based on polylactide that have been modified with the organosilicon compound,(3-thiopropyl)polysilsesquioxane(SSQ-SH).The SSQ-SH compound is a mixture of cage structures and not fully condensed random *** composite materials were obtained through injection *** study includes a comprehensive characterization of the new materials that analyze their functional properties,such as rheology(mFR),mechanical strength(tensile strength,Charpy impact strength),and thermal *** microscopic photos were also taken to analyze the microstructure of the *** addition of a 5%by-weight organosilicon compound to polylactide resulted in a significant increase in mFR by 73.8%compared to the neat *** greatest improvement in impact strength was achieved for the 5%SSQ-SH/PLA composite,increasing it by 32.0 kJ/m^(2)compared to PLA,which represents an increase of up to 187%.The conducted research confirms the possibility of modifying the properties of the polymer by employing organosilicon compounds.

The presence of heavy metals such as arsenic(As)and chromium(Cr)can be considered one of the most toxic heavy *** study aims to develop and evaluate a graphene oxide(GO)based material functionalized with ferrihydrite for the removal of As(V)in the presence of Cr(VI).The adsorbent ferrihydrite-functionalized graphene oxide(GOFH)was characterized by Sem,FTIR,XRD,XPS,surface charge,BeT and *** adsorption capacities for As(V)and Cr(VI)were 160 and 66 mg g^(-1)respectively at pH 4 and 298 K,fitting the Langmuir *** binary systems,GOFH adsorbed As(V)with an adsorption capacity of 137 mg g^(-1)in the presence of 20 mg L^(-1)Cr(VI)at room *** analysis revealed an exothermic and spontaneous ***,GOFH effectively removed several coexisting anions from groundwater,including SO_(4)^(2-),CO_(3)^(2-)and Cl^(-).This work evidences the potential of GOFH for com.e.itive adsorption of priority pollutants from complex *** GOFH material represents a technically and economically viable technology for application in groundwater decontamination,as it requires inexpensive precursors and ambient conditions during synthesis and operation.

The Teodorescu Operator in Clifford Analysis

euclidean Clifford analysis is a higher dimensional function theory centred around monogenic functions, i.e., null solutions to a first order vector valued rotation in- variant differential operator called the Dirac operator. more recently, Hermitian Clifford analysis has emerged as a new branch, offering yet a refinement of the euclidean case; it focuses on the simultaneous null solutions, called Hermitian monogenic functions, to two Hermitian Dirac operators and which are invariant under the action of the unitary group. In euclidean Clifford analysis, the Teodorescu operator is the right inverse of the Dirac operator __0. In this paper, Teodorescu operators for the Hermitian Dirac operators c9~_ and 0_~, are constructed. moreover, the structure of the euclidean and Hermitian Teodor- escu operators is revealed by analyzing the more subtle behaviour of their components. Finally, the obtained inversion relations are still refined for the differential operators is- suing from the euclidean and Hermitian Dirac operators by splitting the Clifford algebra product into its dot and wedge parts. Their relationship with several complex variables theory is discussed.

First results of turbulence investigation on Globus-m2 using radial correlation Doppler reflectometry

The first results of investigation of the turbulence structure using Doppler backscattering(DBS)on the Globus-m2 tokamak are presented.A one-channel DBS system with a variable probing frequency within the 18–26 GHz range was installed to investigate the edge plasma at normalized minor radiiρ=0.9–*** correlation Doppler reflectometry was used to study the changes in turbulence eddies after the LH *** analysis was applied to the phase derivative of complex in-phase and quadrature(IQ)signals of the DBS diagnostic as it contains information about the poloidal plasma rotation *** L-mode,the radial correlation length L_(r)is estimated to be 3 cm and after transition to H-mode reduces to approximately 2 *** modelling in a linear local approximation using code GeNe indicates that the instability with positive growth rate at the normalized minor radiusρ=0.75 in L-mode and H-mode on Globus-m2 was the ion tem.e.ature gradient(ITG)mode.

In situ Hydrothermal Oxidation of Ternary FeCoNi Alloy electrode for Overall Water Splitting

exploring noble metal-free catalyst materials for high efficient electrochemical water splitting to produce hydrogen is strongly desired for renewable energy *** this article,a novel bifunctional catalytic electrode of insitu-grown type for alkaline water splitting based on FeCoNi alloy substrate has been successfully prepared via a facile one-step hydrothermal oxidation route in an alkaline hydrogen peroxide *** shows that the matrix alloy with the atom ratio 4∶3∶3 of Fe∶Co∶Ni can obtain the best catalytic performance when hydrothermally treated at 180℃for 18 h in the solution containing 1.8 m hydrogen peroxide and 3.6 m sodium *** as-prepared Fe_(0.4)Co_(0.3)Ni_(0.3)-1.8 electrode exhibits small overpotentials of only 184 and 175 mV at electrolysis current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)for alkaline OeR and HeR processes,*** overall water splitting at electrolysis current density of 10 mA cm^(-2)can be stably delivered at a low cell voltage of 1.62 *** characteristics including the large specific surface area,the high surface nickel content,the abundant catalyst species,the balanced distribution between bivalent and trivalent metal ions,and the strong binding of in-situ naturally growed catalytic layer to matrix are responsible for the prominent catalytic performance of the Fe_(0.4)Co_(0.3)Ni_(0.3)-1.8 electrode,which can act as a possible replacement for expensive noble metal-based materials.

Predatory pollinator deception： Does the orchid mantis resemble a model species？

Cases of im.e.fect or non-model mimicry are common in plants and animals and challenge intuitive assumptions about the nature of directional selection on mimics. many non-rewarding flower species do not mimic a particular species, but at- tract pollinators through ＇generalised food deception＇. Some predatory animals also attract pollinators by resembling flowers, perhaps the most well known, yet least well understood, is the orchid mantis Hymenopus coronatus. This praying mantis has been hypothesised to mimic a flower corolla and we have previously shown that it attracts and captures pollinating insects as prey. Predatory pollinator deception is relatively unstudied and whether this occurs through model mimicry or generalised food decep- tion in the orchid mantis is unknown. To test whether the orchid mantis mimics a specific model flower species we investigated similarities between its morphology and that of flowers in its natural habitat in peninsular malaysia. Geometric morphometrics were used to compare the shape of mantis femoral lobes to flower petals. Physiological vision models were used to compare the colour of mantises and flowers from the perspective of bees, flies and birds. We did not find strong evidence for a specific model flower species for the orchid mantis. The mantis＇ colour and shape varied within the range of that exhibited by many flower pet- als rather than resembling one type in particular. We suggest that the orchid mantis resembles an average, or generalised flower-like stimulus. Thus predatory pollinator deception in the orchid mantis is likely to function as a form of generalised food deception, as opposed to model mimicry .
