Catastrophic natural disasters like earthquakes can cause infrastructure ***-gency response agencies need to assess damage precisely while repeating this process for infrastructures with different shapes and *** authors aim for an autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)platform equipped with a 3D LiDAR sensor to comprehensively and accurately scan the infrastructure and map it with a predefined resolution *** the inspection,the UAV needs to decide on the Next Best View(NBV)position to maximize the gathered information while avoiding collision at high *** authors propose solving this problem by implementing a hierarchical closed‐loop control system consisting of a global planner and a local *** global NBV planner decides the general UAV direction based on a history of measurements from the LiDAR sensor,and the local planner considers the UAV dynamics and enables the UAV to fly at high speed with the latest LiDAR *** proposed system is vali-dated through the Regional Scale Autonomous Swarm Damage Assessment simulator,which is built by the *** extensive testing in three unique and highly constrained infrastructure environments,the autonomous UAV inspection system suc-cessfully explored and mapped the infrastructures,demonstrating its versatility and applicability across various shapes of infrastructure.

We present resolved Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope H I observations of the high gas-phase metallicity dwarf galaxy WISEA J230615.06+143927.9(z = 0.005)(hereafter J2306) and investigate whether it could be a Tidal Dwarf Galaxy(TDG) candidate. TDGs are observed to have higher metallicities than normal dwarfs. J2306 has an unusual combination of a blue g-r color of 0.23 mag, irregular optical morphology and high-metallicity(12 +log(O/H) = 8.68 ± 0.14), making it an interesting galaxy to study in more detail. We find J2306 to be an H I rich galaxy with a large extended, unperturbed rotating H I disk. Using our H I data we estimated its dynamical mass and found the galaxy to be dark matter(DM) dominated within its H I radius. The quantity of DM, inferred from its dynamical mass, appears to rule out J2306 as an evolved TDG. A wide area environment search reveals J2306 to be isolated from any larger galaxies which could have been the source of its high gas metallicity. Additionally, the H I morphology and kinematics of the galaxy show no indication of a recent merger to explain the *** detailed optical spectroscopic observations of J2306 might provide an answer to how a seemingly ordinary irregular dwarf galaxy achieved such a high level of metal enrichment.

The development of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)batteries is hindered by the disadvantages of shuttling of polysulfides and the sluggish redox kinetics of the conversion of sulfur species during discharge and ***,the crystallinities of a titanium nitride(TiN)film on copper-embedded carbon nanofibers(Cu-CNFs)are regulated and the nanofibers are used as interlayers to resolve the aforementioned crucial issues.A low-crystalline TiN-coated Cu-CNF(L-TiN-Cu-CNF)interlayer is compared with its highly crystalline counterpart(H-TiN-Cu-CNFs).It is demonstrated that the L-TiN coating not only strengthens the chemical adsorption toward polysulfides but also greatly accelerates the electrochemical conversion of *** to robust carbon frameworks and enhanced kinetics,impressive highrate performance at 2 C(913 mAh g^(-1)based on sulfur)as well as remarkable cyclic stability up to 300 cycles(626 mAh g^(-1))with capacity retention of 46.5%is realized for L-TiN-Cu-CNF interlayer-configured Li-S *** under high loading(3.8 mg cm^(-2))of sulfur and relatively lean electrolyte(10μL electrolyte per milligram sulfur)conditions,the Li-S battery equipped with L-TiN-Cu-CNF interlayers delivers a high capacity of 1144 mAh g^(-1)with cathodic capacity of 4.25 mAh cm^(-2)at 0.1 C,providing a potential pathway toward the design of multifunctional interlayers for highly efficient Li-S batteries.

Slope failure occurs due to an increase in the saturation level and a subsequent decrease in matric suction in unsaturated *** paper presents the results of a series of centrifuge experiments and numerical analyses on a 55°inclined unsaturated sandy slope with less permeable,stronger silty sand layer inclusion within *** is observed that a less permeable,stronger silty sand layer in an otherwise homogeneous sandy soil slope hinders the infiltration of *** water content of the slope just above the stronger layer increases significantly,compared to *** shear band is found to initiate in a homogeneous sandy soil slope,whereas for a non-homogeneous slope,they initiate just above the less pervious,stronger layer.A discontinuity of the shear zone is also observed for the case of a non-homogeneous soil *** factor of safety of a non-homogeneous,unsaturated soil slope decreases because of the less permeable,stronger *** decreases significantly if this less permeable,stronger soil layer is located near the toe of the slope.
