The purpose of this study is to contribute to the literature by studying the effects of sudden changes both on crude oil import price and domestic gasoline price on inflation for Turkey, an emerging country. Since an inflation targeting regime is being carried out by the Central Bank of Turkey, determination of such effects is becoming more important. Therefore empirical evidence in this paper will serve as guidance for those countries, which have an in- flation targeting regime. Analyses have been done in the period of October 2005-December 2012 by Markovswitching vector autoregressive （MS-VAR） models which are successful in capturing the nonlinear properties of variables. Using MS-VAR analysis, it is found that there are 2 regimes in the analysis period. Furthermore, regime changes can be dated and the turning points of economic cycles can be determined. In addition, it is found that the effect of the changes in crude oil and domestic gasoline prices on consumer prices and core inflation is not the same under different regimes. Moreover, the sudden increase in gasoline price is more important for consumer price infla- tion than crude oil price shocks. Another finding is the presence of a pass-through effect from oil price and ga- soline price to core inflation.

This study was carried out to develop a new functional fermented beverage that combines both the functional composition of grape(Tarsus beyazi)juice and metabolic products of the yeast Williopsis *** this reason,two trials were ***,the effect of different inoculation ratios and low fermentation temperatures at different times was *** naturally flavoured beverages,there was generally a decrease in total phenolic substance,antioxidant activity and total flavonoid amount with increasing fermentation time and inoculation *** panellists chose b-15d(1×10^(6)cells/mL *** yeast addition,15 days fermentation)and then c-15d(1×10^(7)cells/mL *** yeast addition,15 days fermentation)the most out of different beverages *** performed with yeasts inoculated at the rate of 1×10^(6)and 1×10^(7)cells/mL for 15 days was selected for the second trials based on both general and sensory *** this reason,these beverages,which were most preferred by the panellists,were re-manufactured and naturally flavoured carbonated beverages were produced by adding CO_(2) with the post-mix ***,sucrose,glucose and fructose values were determined in lower amounts in natural flavoured carbonated beverages compared to grape juice,which is given importance by *** in naturally flavoured beverages,carbonated beverages also decreased in total phenolic substance,antioxidant activity and total flavonoid amount with increasing fermentation *** addition,the c-15d natural flavoured carbonated beverage(1×10^(7)cells/mL *** yeast addition,15 days fermentation)was more favoured by the panellists than the commercially purchased carbonated *** results reported here are considered to be a good starting point for the development of new naturally flavoured and/or carbonated fermented beverages from the under-consumed grape.

Currency Undervaluation and Economic Rebalancing towards Services:Is China an Exception?

The present study investigates the main determinants of the employment share of the service sector using a panel of 66 countries over the period 1983-2007. Based on alternative measures of currency misalignment, the study extends the literature by investigating the impact of an undervalued currency on services. The empirical findings show that together with productivity and income per capita, currency undervaluation significantly determines the total employment share of services. Another key finding is that conventional cross- country determinants and the exchange rate undervaluation can only partially explain the underdevelopment of services activity in China and in other South-East Asian countries. In these countries, policies that aim at rebalancing the economy towards services should include elements to reform the domestic finaneial market, and the social security and health- care systems.

Fertility variation and effective number of parents were estimated in the 100 individuals from each of three plantation populations (P1, P2 and P3) of the endangered Pinus nigra. subsp. pallasiana var. pyramidata established in the Isparta-Golcuk district in southern Turkey in 1990. Potential relations between cone yield and growth characters (height, diameter at breast height, diameter at base and crown diameter) were also investigated. Large differences were found among populations and within populations for cone production and growth characters. Mean cone production was eight (ranging from 6.5 in P2 to 9.1 in P1) for the three populations. The 10 most productive individuals for cones produced 32% of the total cones in P1, 39% in P2 and 34% in P3; 21, 16 and 6 individuals, respectively did not produce any cones in the populations. According to the correlation analyses, the relation between cone yield and growth characters changed for the populations, while height, diameter at breast height and crown diameter were positively significantly correlated (r = 0.182, 0.135 and 0.209; p ≤ 0.05) with cone production for the three populations. Fertility variation was 1.81 in total of three populations, ranging from 1.72 in P3 to 3.45 in P1). Effective number of parents was 142 (55.2 of number of parents censused; 29%, P1; 49.8%, P2; 58.3%, P3).

Encapsulation of potential bioactive natural substances is a promising preservation method for the natural additives over the synthetic antixodiants. In this study, ionic gelation has been used to encapsulate the Moringa oleifera leaf extract in biopolymers. Automatic solvent extraction was used to extract active material from the plant. Then, the active material was covered by chitosan/alginate via ionic gelation. Ionic gelation system was designed and optimized by Central Composite design of Response Surface Method (RSM). Exposure time to gelling medium (10–30 min), sodium alginate concentration (1%–2%, w/v) and chitosan concentration (0.5%–1%, w/v) were process parameters to be optimized for the maximum encapsulation efficiency concerning total phenolic content (EETPC ), rutin (major individual compound) concentration and inhibition effect of the capsules against DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate) free radical. Particle shape and morphology of the dried microcapsules show that the capsules obtained are quite spherical, uniform and have a regular structure depending on stereo-microscope and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyzes.

The most significant factor for the success in soft tissue grafts is the synergistic relation between vascular configuration and involved tissues. In the soft tissue graft procedures, site specific donor tissue is assumed to have improved potential for function and aesthetic survive at recipient sites. On a clinical level, using site specific gingival unit graft that placed on traditionally prepared recipient site, results in predictable root coverage. In this case report the clinical effectiveness of gingival unit transfer(GUT) technique performed on Miller Ⅲ recession was presented and a similar recession case treated with free gingival graft(FGG) technique for comparison. Probing depth, recession depth, keratinized tissue width and clinical attachment level clinical parameters were measured at baseline and postoperative 8 mo. Percentage of defect coverage was evaluated at postoperative 8 mo. Creeping attachment was assessed at postoperative 1, 3, 6 and 8 mo. The GUT revealed better defect coverage and creeping attachment results than the FGG in the treatment of Miller Ⅲ defects.

Two simultaneous earthquakes occurred in the Kahramanmaraş-Pazarcık and Kahramanmaraş-Elbistan districts of Turkey on February 6,2023,and with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6,*** events caused the highest estimated loss recorded in Turkey within the last century from natural *** key reason for the extensive loss was the proximity of eleven cities to the earthquake *** East Technical University teams investigated the building sites in Gaziantep,Kahramanmaras,Hatay,Adiyaman and *** ground motion recordings revealed that in certain locations of Gaziantep,Kahramanmaraşand Hatay,the ground motion levels exceeded the maximum credible earthquake level defined for a return period of 2,475 years in the Turkish Earthquake *** building performance was investigated with respect to the construction year,which is a good indicator of compliance with modern seismic codes and inspection *** 97%of the collapsed buildings were constructed prior to 2000,whereas over 5,000 buildings,which were built after 2000,collapsed or required urgent *** of the buildings with minor or greater structural damage sustained heavy infill wall damage rendering occupancy *** from damage in older construction with significant structural deficiencies,the damage in some of the more recent and better constructed buildings was observed to be surprisingly *** can be attributed to the level of ground motion,significant ductility demands,poor material and workmanship and damage to non-structural *** the estimated total loss of above 100 billion dollars and over 50,000 casualties,the current seismic design criterion based on ductility and acceptance of structural damage should be re-evaluated to ensure a more resilient urban environment in high seismic regions.
