BACKGROUND Long non-coding RNAs(lncRNAs) are a kind of single-stranded RNA of more than 200 nucleotides in length and have no protein-coding function. Amounting studies have indicated that lncRNAs could play a vital role in the initiation and development of cancers, including gastric cancer(GC). Considering the crucial functions of lncRNAs, the identification and exploration of novel lncRNAs in GC is *** To identify independent prognostic markers for the whole gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumor(GEP-NET) *** Ninety-three patients diagnosed with GEP-NETs within a specified period were included in this study. Patient data were retrospectively analyzed. The relationships between all independent variables and 5-year survival status calculated during the follow-up period(months) were assessed. In addition, the relationships between the independent variables were *** When 5-year survival rate was compared, a statistically significant relationship between the age at diagnosis, male gender, tumor size, tumor stage, liver and/or distant metastasis, and tumor grade determined by the Ki-67 level and mitotic count, and the level of C-reactive protein(CRP), was observed. The meansurvival(overall survival) of the study group was 102.5 ± 6.3(SD) mo. The percentages of 1, 3 and 5-year survival were 90%, 72%, and 61%, respectively. In63 of 93 patients, Ki-67 and the mitotic count determined the same grade. The Ki-67 levels in 29 patients and the mitotic count in only 1 patient were in the higher grade. The risk of death increased by 4% for every 1 year increase at the diagnosis age and was 2.0-fold higher for male patients, 3.0-fold higher for G3 according to the mitotic count, 3.7-fold higher for G3 according to the Ki-67 level, 12.7-fold higher for cases with tumor stage 3 or 4 by a 1 cm increase in the ratio of 9% in tumor size, and 6.1-fold higher for patients with liver metastasis for every 1 mg/dL increase in the ratio of 1.5% in CR

Objective: To prevent unnecessary laparotomies by evaluating the effectiveness of conservative approach in abdominal trauma cases due to drilling-cutting ***: Demographic data, effected region of the body, additional findings of trauma, hemodynamic parameters, duration of admission, diagnostic methods and treatment modalities were retrospectively evaluated in 217 cases with abdominal injury (lower thoracic region, abdominal wall and back) among 1128 victims with drilling-cutting instrument injuries between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2017. The conservative approach was based on physical examination, hemogram follow-up and hemodynamic ***: Totally 177 (81.6%) cases of 217 patients were followed conservatively while 25 cases were operated at early (1-8 hours) and 15 were operated at late (9-48 hours) periods. Two patients who underwent surgery in the early period and two patients who underwent surgery in the late period were accepted as negative laparotomy while 1 patient in the late operated group was regarded as non-therapeutic laparotomy. Diagnostic laparoscopy was performed in 81 cases. Complications developed in 7 patients who were operated in the early period and 10 patients who were operated in the late period. The mean hospital stay period was 5.3 days (1-33) in all cases, 4.5 days (2-20) in conservative treatment group and 8.4 days (3-33) in the operated patients;and the difference was statistically ***: Detailed physical examination, accurate assessment and effective use of different diagnostic methods reduce the frequency of negative and non-therapeutic laparotomies in abdominal stab wound injuries.

A basic human need for recreation is met by making open green areas public spaces,and inasmuch as they are indispensable for healthy and abled individuals in a community,the disabled also have a right to use *** the disabled encounter difficulties in every area of life,parks and gardens are of great importance as they provide opportunities for them to participate in social *** is limited in parks where the appropriate specifications for the disabled are not complied *** these conditions,disabled individuals are unable to benefit from recreation areas and are alienated from the social *** aim of this study was to assess the accessibility to the mobility impaired of park areas intended to serve all users,using the c1rp1c1 Community Gardens as an *** the boundaries of the area under study,the profiles of individuals with physical impairments(the walking impaired,those confined to wheelchairs,those with arm and hand disabilities)and other disabilities were identified,including provisionally disabilities(affecting the elderly,pregnant women,people with temporarily illnesses,etc.).The procedure then conducted was to fill out observational and assessment forms,using the Turkish Standards Institute’s *** observations were made and measurements taken so that the study area could be tested against the control *** results indicated that in terms of the usage criteria for the disabled,there was not a large proportion of obstacles to accessibility within the sample area of study.

Within the advance ports and instruments, laparoendoscopic single-site (LESS) surgery has been increasingly used among gynaecologic surgeons. In addition, advanced port systems have enabled to perform concomitant surgical procedures via transumbilical incision. However, combined surgical operations are rarely reported in the literature, particularly in gynaecology. This case report presents a 42-year-old woman who undergo concomitant LESS hysterectomy and nephrectomy due to deep infiltrating endometriosis (DIE) and end stage renal disease. The operation is performed in approximately 3 hours without any complications, and the patient is discharged on postoperative third day. This case demonstrates that complex concomitant operations even in a patient with DIE can be performed using a LESS surgical approach.

Objective:Due to the many negative properties of sodium hypochlorite used in current root canal treatment,interest in biocompatible natural agents is increasing day by *** aim of this study was to evaluate whether various extract solutions of Sapindus mukorossi have dissolution effects on human pulp ***:Primarily powder extracts were obtained by extracting fruit shells of *** in different solvents(ethanol,methanol,buthanol and distilled water).The test solutions were prepared and randomly separated into six groups with 10 samples in each group:ethanol extract,methanol extract,butanol extract,distilled water extract of ***,sodium hypochlorite(Na OCl)and the control *** these,*** extracts were separated into two subgroups,depending on their concentration level(50μg/m L and 100μg/m L).The pulp tissues of freshly extracted human molars were used for dissolution *** weights of the pulpal tissues were measured and recorded for two times after the samples were placed in the *** analysis for all descriptive statistics was performed using SPSS 22(P<0.05).Results:Our results showed that maximum percent yield of preparation was obtained in methanol extract of *** all of the groups,the best dissolution capacity was seen in the Na OCl group(positive control group).Among *** groups,the best tissue solvent solution was found in SMM group at 50μg/m L and SMB group at 100μg/m ***:The different extracts of *** had a capacity to dissolve pulp tissue but this capacity was less than Na ***,further studies will enable the creation of a commercial solution for clinical use by increasing the effectiveness of *** while combining it with other endodontic irrigation solutions.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the cerebral haemodynamics in patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma. Methods: A total of 19 consecutive patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma and 19 age-and sex-matched healthy volunteers were recruited in a prospective comparative study. The affected eye in patients with unilateral glaucoma and the eye with more advanced lesions in patients with bilateral glaucoma were included in the study, and the ipsilateral middle cerebral arteries (MCA) were evaluated. While in the controls, the study eye and the ipsilateral MCA were chosen randomly. Measurements included systemic arterial pressure, heart rate, intraocular pressure (IOP), and transcranial colour Doppler parameters, including peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), timeaveraged maximum velocity (TAMAX), resistivity index (RI), and pulsatility index (PI). Results: The mean PSV, EDV, and TAMAX were significantly lower in the patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma than in healthy controls (P < 0.001, < 0.001 and < 0.001, respectively). Additionally, patients with pseudoexfoliation glaucoma had significantly higher PI and RI than healthy controls (P=0.001 and 0.04, respectively). Systolic and diastolic blood pressures (P=0.19 and 0.91, respectively) and heart rate (P=0.06) were not different between the groups. The mean IOP were significantly higher in the glaucoma patients compared with the controls (P< 0.001). Conclusion: This study suggests that pseudoexfoliation glaucoma is associated with a reduction in the blood flow velocity and elevation in the resistance of theMCA.

Purpose: To evaluate the retrobulbar hemodynamics in eyes with optic neuritis with multiple sclerosis and to compare these values with those of the unaffected fellow eyes and healthy control eyes. Methods: Thirty-four eyes of 17 patients with unilateral optic neuritis and multiple sclerosis and 16 eyes of 16 normal healthy subjects were recruited from the Departments of Ophthalmology and Neurol ogy. The peak systolic and enddiastolic blood flow velocities and resistivity in dices of the ophthalmic artery, posterior ciliary arteries and central retinal a rtery were measured in each eye with optic neuritis, using color Doppler imaging . Then, they were compared with those of the unaffected fellow eyes and healthy control eyes using paired and unpaired Student’s t-tests, respectively. Result s: The mean etrobulbar blood flow velocities and mean resistivity index in the o phthalmic artery in the eyes with optic neuritis were not significantly differen t from the unaffected fellow eyes and healthy control eyes, as well (P > 0.05). The mean end-diastolic blood flow velocity in the central retinal artery (P=0.0 4) was lower and mean resistivity indices in the central retinal (P=0.02) and po sterior ciliary arteries (P=0.009) were higher in the eyes with optic neuritis t han in the control eyes. In patients with multiple sclerosis, the eyes with opti c neuritis had higher resistivity indices in the posterior ciliary (P=0.02) and central retinal arteries (P=0.04) than did the unaffected fellow eyes. The retro bulbar blood flow velocities and resistivity indices of all vessels in the unaff ected fellow eyes did not significantly differ from the control eyes (P > 0.05). Conclusions: This study suggests that optic neuritis with multiple sclerosis is associated with impaired retrobulbar hemodynamics, especially in the posterior ciliary and central retinal arteries when compared with the contralateral unaffe cted eyes as well as healthy control eyes.

Background: In recent years, lasers have been used in verruca therapy and some successful results have been obtained in some types of verruca. In some of these laser studies, peeling processes have been used to increase penetration. Objective: This study aimed to compare the effects of pulsed dye laser (PDL)-therapy with the effects of PDL therapy following salicylic acid (SA) application. The purpose of the SA application is to increase the laser penetration by decreasing the hyperkeratosis of verruca vulgaris. Methods: This controlled study included 66 lesions from 19 patients enrolled in the study. PDL was applied to 33 lesions following 30%SA application twice a day for 5 days, and the remaining 33 lesions underwent PDL therapy. PDL was administered in both groups at 4-week intervals varying from one to five sessions. In the comparison of these two groups, the changes in verruca dimensions were recorded in width ×length ×height (mm3), and the results of the therapy were evaluated statistically. Results: In both PDL and SA +PDL groups, the regressions observed in the size of the lesions were statistically significant at the end of the fifth session compared with those observed at the onset of the therapy (P < 0.05).At the end of the fifth session, the difference between the two groups was not statistically significant (P = 0.451); however, the clearance rate in the SA +PDL group was more statistically significant than that in the PDL group after the second session P = 0.049. The complete clearance rate in the SA +PDL group was 54.6%after the second session, but 66.4%in the PDL group only after the fifth session. Complete clearance in the SA +PDL group was observed after 2.2 sessions, and in the PDL group after 3.1 sessions (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Although there was no difference between the clearance rate of the SA +PDL group and that of the PDL group after the fifth session, adding SA to PDL decreased the number of sessions to a large extent.

Purpose: To study the effect of bimatoprost 0.03% (Lumigan) on ocular hemodynamics in patients with open- angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Methods: One randomly selected eye of each of 26 patients with open- angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension was enrolled. Each patient received a drop of bimatoprost 0.03% once daily for 1 month. The effect of bimatoprost on ocular circulation was assessed by color Doppler imaging (CDI), which measured peak systolic, end- diastolic blood flow velocities and resistance indices in the ophthalmic, posterior ciliary and central retinal arteries. Retrobulbar hemodynamics by CDI, intraocular pressure by Goldmann applanation tonometer, blood pressure by cuff, and heart rate by palpation were measured at baseline and at 1 month after bimatoprost treatment. Results: Blood flow velocities and r esistance indices in all retrobulbar vessels showed no statistically significant differences between baseline and bimatoprost condition (P > 0.05). Bimatoprost lowered intraocular pressure significantly (P < 0.001), with a mean change of 6.5 mmHg (27% ) after 1 month of treatment. The systolic (P=0.38) and diastolic (P=0.74) blood pressures and pulse rate (P=0.94) did not show statistically significant differences during the study period. Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that topical bimatoprost 0.03% significantly reduces intraocular pressure in patients with open- angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. However, it does not have any effect on retrobulbar hemodynamics in open- angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
