Characterization of Clay Materials from Ivory Coast for Their Use as Adsorbents for Wastewater Treatment

In order to contribute to the valorisation of the clay materials of Ivory Coast in the depollution of wastewater, the physicochemical and mineralogical characterization of three clay samples taken in Agboville (AGB), Bingerville (BIN) and Katiola (KAT) was carried out. The objective of this work was to compare the properties of the clays in order to identify the one that is likely to have interesting adsorptive capacities to clean up contaminated water. These clays were studied by chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and thermal analysis. In addition, their specific surface areas and cation exchange capacities were determined. The AGB clay is composed of 75.51% kaolinite, 14.20% illite and 9.26% quartz. The BIN clay contains 52.21% kaolinite, 6.23% illite, 17.50% quartz and 15.71% goethite. As for the KAT clay, it contains 48.08% kaolinite, 3.55% illite, 20.14% smectite, 6.11% quartz and 16.86% goethite. Their thermal behavior and microstructure are in agreement with their mineralogy. The measured specific surface areas and cation exchange capacities are consistent with literature values. The KAT clay has the highest specific surface and cation exchange capacity. In the light of the results obtained, the KAT clay appears to be more effective in depolluting water than the BIN and AGB clays.

Enhancing Canola Yield and Photosynthesis under Water Stress with Hydrogel Polymers

While Egypt’s canola production per unit area has recently grown,productivity remains low,necessitating increased *** are water-absorbent polymer compounds that can optimize irrigation schedules by increasing the soil’s ability to retain ***,twoﬁeld experiments were conducted to examine hydrogel application to sandy soil on canola growth,biochemical aspects,yield,yield traits,and nutritional quality of yielded seeds grown under water deﬁcit stress *** experiments were conducted by arranging a split-plot layout in a randomized complete block design(RCBD)with three times replications of each *** water stress at 75%or 50%of crop evapotranspiration(ETc)lowered chlorophyll a,chlorophyll b,caro-tenoids,and total pigments content,indole-3-acetic acid,plant development,seed yield,and oil and total carbo-hydrates of seed yield,hydrogel treatment enhanced all of the traits mentioned ***,hydrogel enhanced to gather compatible solutes(proline,amino acids,total soluble sugars),phenolics content in leaves,seed protein,and crop water productivity,which increased while the plants were under water *** results revealed that the full irrigation(100%ETc)along with hydrogel compared to water-stressed(50%ETc)led to enhanced seed yield(kg ha^(-1)),Oil(%),and Total carbohydrates(%)of rapeseed by 57.1%,11.1%and 15.7%,***,under water-stressed plots with hydrogel exhibited enhancement by 10.0%,3.2%and 5.1%in seed yield(kg ha^(-1)),oil(%),and total carbohydrates(%)of rapeseed by 57.1%,11.1%and 15.7%,respec-tively compared to *** a result,the use of hydrogel polymer will be a viable and practical solution for increasing agricultural output under water deﬁcit stress situations.

Tendoscopic Surgery for Peroneal Tendons Instability: A Literature Review

Introduction: There has been a surge in the use of tendoscopic surgery for treating peroneal tendons instability. The novelty of this approach demanded a literature review of its indications, limitations, and clinical outcomes. Aim: a literature review of the clinical studies reporting on tendoscopic peroneal tendon stabilisation surgery along with its outcomes and complications. Methods: We carried out a comprehensive review of the literature up until September 2022 with an extensive search of the MEDLINE, Embase and Cochrane library databases. Results: Initial search resulted in 66 articles. Four duplicate articles were removed. Further 30 articles were excluded after title and abstract screening. Eight studies satisfied the inclusion criteria and were included in this review. Articles were analysed for outcomes and complications. Conclusion: The tendoscopic technique for peroneal tendon instability is an effective and safe surgical technique with very low failure rate. Levels of Evidence: Level IV.

A 56-day feeding period was performed to investigate the possible impacts of dietary nano curcumin(0,50,100,150,and 200 ppm)on the growth,nutrient utilization,non-specific immune parameters,antioxidants in Nile tilapia under chronic low temperature(21.02±0.11◦C).Fishes(n=225;Initial weight=4.39±0.08 g/fish)were randomly stocked at 15 fish/tank for five experimental groups in *** low-temperature circumstances,dietary curcumin in nano form showed no notable alteration in growth variable,nutrient efficiency,digestive enzymes efficiency,biometric indices,survival rates,and hematological ***,the serum of fishes with nano curcumin diets under low-temperature stress displayed higher total protein as well as lower glucose,cortisol,and total cholesterol compared with the control ***,fish fed nano curcumin diets displayed higher lysozyme and bactericidal activities compared to the control group and the best performance was found at dietary nano curcumin level of≥100 ***,groups fed the basal diet demonstrated the poorest antioxidant capacity,and the best superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)existed in fish with nano curcumin diets while the best catalase(CAT)efficiency occurred at higher nano curcumin levels≥100 *** addition,higher counts of intestinal microbiota in terms of total bacterial count(TBC),total yeast and molds count(TYMC),and coliform were noticed in fish consumed the basal diet compared to groups fed on nano curcumin *** conclusion,incorporating nano curcumin at a level of≥100 mg/kg diet(particularly at 150 mg/kg)improved a non-specific immune response,antioxidant,and healthier gastrointestinal microbiota in Nile tilapia under chronic low-temperature stress.

火事件的发生与气候变化以及植被变化密切相关,系统性地研究全新世火活动的时空演化规律,可以更清晰地理解火活动机制与区域性气候、植物变化的关联,同时有助于预测未来火的演化趋势。为了解安达曼海周边地区火灾活动的演化以及可能的驱动因素,以安达曼海南部的海洋钻孔ADM-C1为研究材料,对其全新世以来的炭屑记录进行深入分析,并综合安达曼海周边地区其余的5个炭屑记录,重建了全新世以来安达曼海周边地区火灾活动的演变过程。研究表明,尽管点火、火灾天气和植被组成在各地不尽相同,导致火灾发生频率在区域和地方范围有所不同,但在广泛的气候变化背景下,全新世安达曼海周边各地的火事件发生频率变化具有广泛同步性。全新世安达曼海周边的火灾活动发生频率受到区域性植被和降水变化影响,并最终受控于印度夏季风强度的变化。与末次冰消期相比,12.0~9.0 ka BP安达曼海周边区域火灾活动的发生频率呈下降趋势,反映了印度夏季风降水逐步增加以及木本植物含量逐渐上升的区域环境;9.0~5.0 ka BP较低的区域火灾活动发生频率同时受到较高的印度夏季风降水量和区域木本植物含量的制约;5.0 ka BP后高频的区域火灾活动更多反映了印度夏季风降水的降低。此外,研究结果还表明全新世安达曼海周边区域火灾活动发生频率与厄尔尼诺—南方涛动强度、印度洋偶极子位相和热带辐合带位置的变化相关。

Information security is one of the most important methods of protecting the confidentiality and privacy of internet *** greater the volume of data,the more the need to increase the security methods for protecting data from *** task can be challenging for researchers in terms of managing enormous data and maintaining their safety and *** of digital content is a major issue in maintaining the privacy and secrecy of *** this end,digital watermarking is based on the concept of information security through the insertion and detection of an embedded watermark in an efficient *** methodologies in the research on digital watermarking result in data distortion after embedding the *** scenario can reduce the efficiency of detecting watermarks as well as violate data *** study adapts a robust reversible histogram shifting(HS)technique for textual data in relational ***,the study presents a digital watermarking scheme intended for document copyright protection and proof of *** major advantage of the proposed watermarking scheme is that it can protect digital data and preserve data *** the best of our knowledge,this research methodology is promising for use in the HS expansion model for watermarking data on nonnumeric *** addition,the results showed that despite exposing the database to an insertion attacks at 50%and 75%of the watermark,the proposed algorithm can recovermore than half of the embedded watermark in all addition and alteration attacks *** a result,the watermark information can be retained and restored completely.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of hydroxysafflor yellow A(HSYA)on thioacetamide-induced liver ***:Thioacetamide was administered to rats intraperitoneally in doses of 200 mg/kg twice a week for 12 ***-intoxicated rats were given silymarin(50 mg/kg)or HSYA(5 mg/kg)orally every day for 8 *** enzymes,fibrosis markers,histological changes as well as immunohistochemistry of TNF-α,IL-6,p21,α-SMA,and caspase-3 were *** effect of HSYA on HSC-T6 activation/proliferation and apoptosis was also determined in ***:HSYA decreased liver enzymes,TNF-α,IL-6,and p21 expressions,hepatic PDGF-B,TIMP-1,TGF-β1,and hydroxyproline levels,as well as fibrosis score(S2 vs.S4)compared to the thioacetamide *** also downregulatedα-SMA while increasing caspase-3 ***,at 500μg/mL,HSYA had only a slightly suppressive effect on HSC proliferation,with a 9.5%***,it significantly reduced TGF-β1,inhibitedα-SMA expression,induced caspase-3 expression,and promoted cell ***:HSYA may be a potential therapeutic agent for delaying and reversing the progression of liver *** research on HSYA at higher doses and for a longer period is warranted.

Isolated ventral congenital penile curvature treated by incisionless plication of tunica albuginea in adults:A prospective case series

Background:Numerous surgical techniques are available for the correction of isolated ventral congenital penile curvature(IVCPC).This study aimed to assess the outcomes and predictors of IVCPC treatment in adults using an incisionless plication technique.Materials and methods:This prospective case series examined patients with IVCPC who were treated in our hospital between October 2017 and February 2020 using incisionless plication of the tunica albuginea(Essed-Schroeder technique)with a covering pair of absorbable *** primary outcomes were successful correction(defined as a residual curvature ≤15 degrees)and patient *** follow-ups were performed at 3,6,and 12 months.Results:A total of 23 patients were treated for IVCPC with a mean(range)age of 25.3(18-31)*** patients(78.3％)were single with cosmetic complaints,whereas the other 5 patients(21.7％)were married and presented with a difficult vaginal *** mean(range)curvature,length,and operative time were 40(30-50)degrees,15(10-1 9)cm,and 82(65-100)minutes,*** penile pain and numbness occurred in 13 patients(56.5％)and 7 patients(30.4％)only within the first month,*** suture knots were reported in 15 patients(65.5％)without being bothersome up to 12 *** postoperative means(ranges)of penile curvature and length were significantly different from that of the preoperative values at 3(5[0-20]degrees and 14.5[9-18.5]cm),6(5[0-20]degrees and 14.5[9-18.5]cm),and 12 months(5[0-30]degrees and 14.5[9-18.5]cm;all p＜0.001).Age,preoperative penile curvature,penile length,postoperative pain,wound infections,and knot palpation insignificantly affected cur-vature *** patients(73.9％)were very satisfied with their surgical outcomes.Conclusions:Incisionless plication of the tunica albuginea is effective and safe for the correction of IVCPC in adults with high success and patient satisfaction rates.

Methanolic pomegranate dried peel extract improves cryopreserved semen quality and antioxidant capacity of rams

Objective:To select the appropriate concentrations of methanolic pomegranate extract supplemented in rams’semen extender for obtaining the best-cryopreserved semen ***:Tris-based semen extender was supplemented with 0.0,0.40,0.48,and 0.56 mg/mL pomegranate peel methanolic extract to extend semen collected from five native rams twice weekly for two months(n=80).Pooled(n=16)post-thaw semen characteristics were *** seminal plasma of all supplemented and control groups were used to measure malondialdehyde(MDA),nitric oxide(NO),glutathione peroxidase(GPx),superoxide dismutase(SOD),ascorbic acid,zinc,copper,total cholesterol,low-density lipoproteins(LDL),lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),and alkaline phosphatase(ALP).Results:The supplementation of Tris-based semen extender with 0.48 mg/mL semen extender resulted in the highest post-thaw sperm total motility(P0.05),and LDH(P>0.05).Conclusions:Pomegranate peel methanolic extract 0.48 mg/mL supplemented to Tris-based semen extender of rams is the best enrichment in preserving the sperm post-thaw characteristics via improving biochemical profiles and antioxidant capacity.
