Franson interference can be used to test the nonlocal features of energy-time entanglement and has become a standard in quantum ***,most of the previous Franson interference experiments were demonstrated in the time domain,and the spectral properties of Franson interference have not been fully ***,we theoretically and experimentally demonstrate spectrally resolved Franson interference using biphotons with different correlations,including positive correlation,negative correlation,and *** is found that the joint spectral intensities of the biphotons can be modulated along both the signal and idler directions,which has potential applications in generating high-dimensional frequency entanglement and time-frequency grid *** work may provide a new perspective for understanding the spectral-temporal properties of the Franson interferometer.

Direct Correlation among Telomere Length, Cellular Aging, and Rejuvenation Effects of Honey Child Powder

Purpose: Telomere length (TL) is an indicator of age;however, hormonal influences complicate individual aging. It remains unclear whether TL shortening is a direct factor in both individual and cellular aging. Therefore, we examined the direct relationship between TL and cellular senescence at the cellular level. Methods: Telomerase activity, TL, and gene expression were measured in cultured human lung-, fetal-, and skin-derived fibroblasts, human skin keratinocytes, and telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) gene-immortalized cells using detection kits, Cawthon’s method, and reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, respectively. Novel substances that elongate telomeres were screened to confirm cell rejuvenation effects. Results: Long-term cell culture of TIG-1-20 normal human fibroblasts resulted in TL shortening, decreased division rate, and senescence progression, whereas in OUMS-36T-2 cells, TL elongation via TERT gene transfer increased the division rate, reduced endoplasmic reticulum stress, and upregulated genes associated with young individuals, indicating that cellular rejuvenation occurs via TL elongation. In addition, a honey child powder (HCP) extract was found through screening, and the HCP extract strongly suppressed the menin gene, resulting in increased telomerase activity and extended cell lifespan. Upon addition of the HCP extract to skin fibroblasts, gene expression of moisturizing components, including collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin, increased, and exhibited a rejuvenating effect with an increase in elastin amount. Conclusions: TL elongation or shortening is involved in cell proliferation rate and cellular aging, and TL elongation rejuvenates cells. In addition, HCP extract has a rejuvenating effect on cells and is expected to be a rejuvenating compound.

Impacts of invasive Iris pseudacorus L.(yellow flag) establishing in an abandoned urban pond on native semi-wetland vegetation

Iris pseudacorus L., intentionally introduced in Japan as an ornamental plant and to improve aquatic environments, has been declared a noxious species in the Invasive Alien Species Act of Japan due to the suspected high ecological risks to the local species and ecosystems. Although prompt responses to I. pseudacorus have been sought to conserve local biodiversity, knowledge about its invasiveness is lacking. Here, we report the relationship between the establishment of I. pseudacorus and floristic changes in semi-wetland vegetation of an abandoned urban pond(Aoike), Nara City, Nara Prepecture, Japan. In total, 64 vascular plants were recorded in the pond, of which 50 were native species, seven were naturalized non-native, and seven were invasive species. On the other hand, most of these vascular plants(42 species) were grassland species and only several aquatic plants(10 species) were found in this study pond. The number of vascular plant species decreased significantly at quadrats with a coverage of I. pseudacorus above 50%. In addition, tendencies of lower number of native species and concomitant higher number of invasive species were found with increasing coverage of I. pseudacorus. From these results, we suggest that it is important to preferentially manage sites where the coverage of I. pseudacorus is above 50%, in order to preserve the local biodiversity. Additionally, as recommended in the literature, it is essential that the cut reproductive organs are kept submerged under deep water for an effective control of I. pseudacorus.

Theoretical analysis and finite element （FE） simulation have been carried out for a constant specific load rate （CSLR） indentation creep test. Analytical results indicate that both the representative stress and the indentation strain rate become constant after a transient period. Moreover, the FE simulation reveals that both the contours of equivalent stress and equivalent plastic strain rate underneath the indenter evolve with geometrical self-similarity. This suggests that pseudo-steady indentation creep occurs in the region beneath the indenter. The representative points in the region are defined as the ones with the equivalent stress equal to the representative stress. In addition, it is revealed that the proportionality between indentation strain rate and equivalent plastic strain rate holds at the representative points during the pseudo-steady indentation creep of a power law material. A control volume （CV） beneath the indenter, which governs the indenter velocity, is identified. The size of the CV at the indented surface is approximately 2.5 times the size of the impression. The stress exponent for creep can be obtained from the pseudosteady indentation creep data. These results demonstrate that the CSLR testing technique can be used to evaluate creep parameters with the same accuracy as conventional uniaxial creep tests.

Sol-gel method is a potent method to produce new inorganic and organic-inorganic hybrid materials. The key step of this methodology is the hydrolysis of a metal alkoxide or other metal substrates such as acetylacetonates to form hydroxyl metal species, followed by their condensation to metal-oxygen-metal (M - O - M)bonds. In this process, the utilization of water, generally in excess, is essential and alcoholic solvents such as ethanol are often required to homogenize the solution when organic compounds coexist. As the common sol-gel method using water allows for limited uses of organic substrates due to their low solubility and stability in aqueous solution, modified variations of sol-gel method are required. Recently, some processes were reported for preparing metal oxides from metal alkoxides without the utilization of water.

Preparation of High Performance Foamed Concrete from Cement,Sand and Mineral Admixtures

The titled high performance foamed concrete was developed from Portland cement, ultra fine granulated blast-furnace slag, pulverized fly ash and condensed silica fume by means of pre-foaming process. The resultant foamed concrete presents its thermal conductivity of about 0.16-0.75 W/（m·℃） and 28 d compressive strength of about 1.1-23.7 MPa when its mix proportion varies in the range of cement content 280 kg-650 kg/m^3, fly ash 42-97 kg/m^3, slag 64-146 kg/m^3, silica fume 34-78 kg/m^3, and sand 0-920 kg/m^3. The compressive strength of the foamed concrete with oven dried bulk density of 1500 kg/m^3 in appropriate mix proportion and with small amount of superplasticizer reached as high as 44.1 MPa. Meanwhile, the flesh foamed concrete behaves like an excellent flow-ability, therefore, is especially suitable for the application in case of massive foamed concrete casting in situ and in the case of filling casting into large volume underground irregular voids, except for pre-casting of building components like blocks, bricks, and wall panels.

Spectroscopic Detection of Chiral Aggregation at Liquid-Liquid Interfaces

Two new spectroscopic methods to detect the optical activity of liquid-liquid interfaces have been developed. The first one is the centrifugal liquid membrane （CLM） method combined with a conventional circular dichroism （CD） spectropolarimetry and the second one is a more interfacial specific second harmonic generation CD （SHG-CD） spectrometry. In the CLM-CD method, a cylindrical glass cell containing small amounts of organic and aqueous phases was rotated at about 7000 r/min in a sample chamber of a CD spectropolarimeter to generate an interface with a high specific interfacial area between the two-phase liquid membranes. The CD spectra of the J-aggregate of protonated 5,10,15, 20-tetraphenylporphyrin formed at the toluene-sulfuric acid interface have been measured, As for the SHG-CD, a circularly polarized wavelength-variable fs-laser system was constructed to measure the interfacial SHG spectra of a flat liquid-liquid interface. The ion-associated aggregation of a water-soluble anionic porphyrin promoted with a cationic amphiphile at the heptane-water interface was observed by this technique and the observed SHG-CD spectra proved the generation of a characteristic oPtical activity accompanied by the formation of the interfacial aggregate of inherently achiral porphyrin molecules. These methods will pioneer a new field of interfacial chiral chemistry in the studies of solvent extraction mechanisms.
