We consider different observational effects to test a modified gravity approach involving the cosmological constant in the common description of dark matter and dark *** obtain upper limits for the cosmological constant by studying the scaling relations for 12 nearby galaxy clusters,the radiated power from gravitational waves and the Tully-Fisher relation for super spiral *** estimations reveal that,for all these cases,the upper limits forΛare consistent with its actual value predicted by cosmological observations.

AIM:To compare the safety and efficacy of conventional versus accelerated(9 mW/cm^2)corneal collagen crosslinking(CXL)in progressive keratoconus at the 2-year ***:In this prospective study,consecutive progressive keratoconus patients were randomized to receive either conventional CXL(CCXL)or accelerated CXL(ACXL;using hydroxypropyl methylcellulose-assisted riboflavin imbibition for 10 min at 9 mW/cm^2).Visual,refractive,keratometric,topographic,and aberrometric outcomes and stromal demarcation line depth(DLD)measurements were compared at the end of a 2-year ***:Thirty-two eyes from 32 patients in the CCXL and 27 eyes from 27 patients in the ACXL groups completed 2-year *** 2y post-CXL,both uncorrected and corrected visual acuities improved significantly in both *** improvements in keratometric readings,flattening rate(flattening of the maximum keratometry more than 1 D),3 topographic indices,and vertical coma were significantly better in the CCXL group compared to the ACXL group(P<0.05).The DLD as measured by anterior segment optical coherence tomography or in vivo confocal microscopy was better detectable and significantly deeper in the CCXL group compared to the ACXL *** deeper DLD was found to be significantly correlated with improvements in the mean keratometry *** was noted in 11.1%of eyes in the ACXL group,whereas progression was not observed in any patient eye in the CCXL ***:In this prospective randomized study,ACXL is less effective in halting the progression of keratoconus at a 2-year follow-up compared to CCXL.

AIM to specify the type and prevalence of anemia along with a treatment approach for inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS We conducted a retrospective study on 465 patients who were diagnosed with IBD and followed up at our hospital from June 2015 to June 2016 [male: 254, female: 211; average age: 47 ± 14.4; Crohn's disease(CD): 257, Ulcerative Colitis(UC): 208]. Epidemiological and clinical data, such as sex, age, age of diagnosis, type of IBD, disease extension, disease behavior and duration, treatments for IBD and anemia, and surgical history were obtained for each patient. Per World Health Organization guidelines, anemia was diagnosed for males if hemoglobin values were less than 13 g/dL and for females if hemoglobin values were less than 12 g/d *** We determined that 51.6% of the patients had anemia, which was more frequent in women then men(64% vs 41.3%, P < 0.001). Anemia frequency was higher in CD cases(57.6%) than in UC cases(44.2%)(P = 0.004). CD involvements were as follows: 48.2% in ileal involvement, 19% in colonic involvement, and 32.8% in ileocolonic involvement. Furthermore, 27.5% of UC patients had proctitis(E1) involvement, 41% ofthem had involvement in left colitis(E2), and 31.5% had pancolitis involvement. There was no significant relationship between anemia frequency and duration of disease(P = 0.55). Iron deficiency anemia(IDA) was the most common type of anemia in this cohort. Moreover, because anemia parameters have not been evaluated during follow-up of 15.3% of patients, the etiology of anemia has not been clarified. Fifty percent of patients with anemia received treatment. Twentythree percent of IDA patients had oral iron intake and forty-one percent of IDA patients had parenteral iron treatment. Fifty-three percent of patients who were suffering from megaloblastic anemia received B12/folic acid *** We found out that almost half of all IBD patients(51.6%) had anemia, the most frequent of which was IDA. Background:Pediatric acute pancreatitis(AP)is rare but *** AP is associated with higher morbidity and ***,there are no universally accepted prognostic criteria for ***:This retrospective study included children with AP admitted to an intensive care unit(ICU)of our tertiary pediatric center between January 2009 and December *** severity of organ dysfunction in AP was assessed according to the modified Atlanta criteria using the Pediatric Sequential Organ Failure Assessment(p SOFA)and Computed Tomography Severity Index(CTSI).Results:Seventy acute episodes of AP were evaluated in 55 children with primary *** addition,secondary AP was diagnosed in 15 patients originally admitted to ICU for different *** AP[no organ dysfunction,normal computed tomography(CT)finding]was the most prevalent(64/85 episodes in 49 children),followed by moderate AP(15 children;p SOFA 2-9 points,CTSI 3-4 points on admission).Severe AP(p SOFA 4-17 points,CTSI 6-10 points)was diagnosed in 6 children with traumatic or secondary *** most frequent etiologies of primary AP episodes were idiopathic(39%)and biliary(31%).Children with idiopathic AP had frequent relapses and *** AP was typically mild,but presented with high pancreatic enzyme levels and recurrence *** at ICU and an interval without enteral nutrition(EN)were relatively short in drug-induced AP and relatively long in secondary and traumatic *** retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)was performed in 13 patients with biliary AP and in 4 patients with traumatic *** AP-related death was ***:p SOFA score accurately reflects the severity and prognosis of AP in children.
