We provide confirmed photographic evidence for the previously overlooked occurrence of the polyphyletic Asian gecko genus Cnemaspis from Gunung Mulu National Park, the world-renowned UNESCO natural heritage site in northern Sarawak, East Malaysia. This new record from Sarawak province represents a remarkable range extension for Cnemaspis cf. kendallii by 550 km to the northeast and denotes the most northern occurrence of the genus in Borneo. Our new finding makes it very likely that these gekkonid lizards also inhabit appropriate limestone karst habitats in adjacent Sabah, Brunei, and Kalimantan. Given the visible differences in the Mulu specimen compared to those from the remaining distribution range on Borneo and the Malaysian Peninsula together with the fact that numerous Cnemaspis species are restricted to small areas, it seems plausible that another undescribed, rather cryptic and possibly locally endemic Bornean species is involved. Lastly, the new record contributes to the importance of the Mulu National Park as a major conservation area in East Malaysia of international concerns.

As the rapid development of aviation industry and newly emerging crowd-sourcing projects such as Flightradar24 and FlightAware,large amount of air traffic data,particularly four-dimension(4D)trajectory data,have become available for the *** order to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of results,data cleansing is the first step in analyzing 4D trajectory data,including error identification and *** cleansing techniques for the 4D trajectory data are *** propagation(BP)neural network algorithm is applied to repair *** interpolation method is used to obtain even-spaced trajectory samples over a uniform distribution of each flight’s 4D trajectory ***,a new method is proposed to compress data while maintaining the intrinsic characteristics of the ***-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN)is applied to identify remaining outliers of sample *** are performed on a data set of one-day 4D trajectory data over *** results show that the proposed method can achieve more efficient and effective results than the existing *** work contributes to the first step of data preprocessing and lays foundation for further downstream 4D trajectory analysis.

If we survey the fall of Mesopotamian empires from the beginning of written sources to the end of the Neo-Babylonian Empire we find one astonishing similarity:the warlike people that finally destroyed these empires came from the East.A number of factors,not at least geography,might explain this,but here I want to focus on the effect the Mesopotamian empires had on the bordering regions themselves and discuss the possibility that the constitution of these organized political actors pushing back against the empire was a result of Mesopotamian imperial politics themselves determined by a poor evaluation of the empire’s ability to exercise direct control of areas where military actions took *** aim of this paper is to build on earlier work and investigate the fall of the empires of Akkad and Ur III under a systemic perspective,in order to understand which factors might have caused the decline and fall of these empires that were not merely *** reasons have been suggested for the fall of Mesopotamian empires,like climatic change(Kinnier-Wilson 2005),salinization of the soil(Powell 1985),or the arrival of new ***,I want to focus on the question of whether this“arrival of new people”may be better described as the establishment of opposing political *** are often described as coming out of nowhere,but I would like to suggest that this was the result of an ethnogenesis or secondary state formation at the border of the empire.

Alcoholic liver disease(ALD) and hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection represent, either alone or in combination, more than two thirds of all patients with liver disease in the Western *** review discusses the epidemiology and combined impact of ALD and HCV on the progres sion of liver *** and HCV affect the progres sion of liver disease to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) in a synergistic ***, the risk for HCC increases f ive times with a daily alcohol con sumption of 80 g;in the presence of HCV it is increased 20fold, and a combination of both risk factors leads to a more than 100fold risk for HCC *** consumption also decreases the response to interferon treatment which is probably due to a lack of compliance than a direct effect on HCV *** molecu lar mechanisms are discussed that could explain the synergistic interaction of alcohol and HCV on disease *** include modulation of the immune response and apoptosis, increased oxidative stress via induction of CYP2E1 and the hepatic accumulation of ***, both HCV and alcohol independently cause hepatic iron accumulation in > 50% of patients probably due to suppression of the liversecreted systemic iron hormone hepcidin.A better understanding of hepcidin regulation could help in developing novel therapeutic approaches to treat the chronic disease in the *** now, it can be generally concluded that HCVinfect ed patients should abstain from alcohol and alcoholicsshould be encouraged to participate in detoxification programs.

The article approaches Wong Kar-wai＇s cinematic work using the notion of ＂minor literature＂ as coined by Gilles Deleuze and F61ix Guattari. Minor literature--or, in other words, minor language signifies oppositional/resistant uses of a major/hegemonic language. It appropriates hegemonic language and deterritorialises it by re-signifying its original meanings. By transferring this concept from literature to cinema, we can describe Hong Kong cinema, which deterritorialises Hollywood cinema, as a minor cinema in relation to Hollywood. Following this interpretation, Wong Kar-wai＇s movies appear as a ＂minor language of a minor cinema＂ because they are significantly different from Hong Kong＇s mainstream action cinema. Consequently, Wong＇s movies possess a high level of deterritorialising power, which opens up new spaces of meaning and gives voice to positions usually oppressed by mainstream cinema. Finally, a close reading of Wong＇s movie Happy Together shows how ＂minor movies＂ challenge the mainstream＇s unison and give space to a resistant and transforming polyphony.

Molecular dynamics simulation of the Stribeck curve: Boundary lubrication, mixed lubrication, and hydrodynamic lubrication on the atomistic level

Lubricated contact processes are studied using classical molecular dynamics simulations for determining the entire range of the Stribeck ***,the lateral movement of two solid bodies at different gap height are *** each simulation,a rigid asperity is moved at constant height above a flat iron surface in a lubricating *** methane and decane are considered as *** three main lubrication regimes of the Stribeck curve and their transition regions are covered by the study:Boundary lubrication(significant elastic and plastic deformation of the substrate),mixed lubrication(adsorbed fluid layer dominates the process),and hydrodynamic lubrication(shear flow is set up between the surface and the asperity).We find the formation of a tribofilm in which lubricant molecules are immersed into the metal surface—not only in the case of scratching,but also for boundary lubrication and mixed *** formation of a tribofilm is found to have important consequences for the contact ***,the two fluids are found to show distinctly different behavior in the three lubrication regimes:For hydrodynamic lubrication(large gap height),decane yields a better tribological performance;for boundary lubrication(small gap height),decane shows a larger friction coefficient than methane,which is due to the different mechanisms observed for the formation of the tribofilm;the mixed lubrication regime can be considered as a transition regime between the two other ***,it is found that the nature of the tribofilm depends on the lubricant:While methane particles substitute substrate atoms sustaining mostly the crystalline structure,the decane molecules distort the substrate surface and an amorphous tribofilm is formed.

Neural stem cells generate new neurons throughout life in distinct regions of the mammalian brain. This process, called adult neurogenesis, is important for tissue homeostasis and physiological brain function. In addition, failing or altered neurogenesis has been associated with a number of diseases such as major depression and epilepsy. Thus, understanding the molecular mechanisms governing the neurogenic process in the adult brain may enable future therapeutic approaches to target neural stem/progenitor cells （NSPCs） and their progeny to ameliorate disease symptoms and/or disease progression. Recently, the control of cellular metabolism has emerged as a regulator of NSPC activity in the adult brain. Here we review recent findings that attempt to describe stage-specific modulations of metabolism to ensure proper neurogenesis and suggest future avenues of research aiming to understand how metabolism affects NSPC behavior.
