Catalytically active interfaces in titania nanorod-supported copper catalysts for CO oxidation

One-dimensional titanium dioxide nanorod(TNR)-supported Cu catalysts(2.5 wt.%-12.5 wt.%)were synthesized using deposition-precipitation.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,temperature programmed reduction and CO chemisorption measurements showed that Cu doping over TNR offered metal-support interactions and interfacial active sites that had a profound impact on the catalytic *** role of the Cu-TNR interface was investigated by comparing the catalytic activity of Cu-TNR catalysts with that of pure CuO nanoparticles in CO *** presence of highly dispersed copper species,a high number of interfacial active sites,CO adsorption capacity and surface/lattice oxygen were found to be responsible for the excellent activity of 7.5CU-TNR(ie,Cu loading of 7.5 wt.%on TNR).Moreover,the Cu-TNR catalysts followed the Langmuir-Hinshelwood reaction mechanism with 7.5CU-TNR,exhibiting an apparent activation energy of 44.7 kJ/*** TNR-supported Cu catalyst gave the highest interfacial catalytic activity in medium-temperature CO oxidation(120-240℃)compared to other commonly used supports,including titanium dioxide nanoparticles(TiO2-P25),silica(siO2)and alumina(Al20g)in which copper species were nonhomogeneously *** study confirms that medium-temperature CO oxidation is highly sensitive to the morphology and structure of the supporting material.

1. Introduction Halogens, including fluorine(F), chlorine(Cl), bromine(Br), and iodine(I), are highly mobile and water-soluble elements that can become significantly enriched in melts and fluids. In fluids and melts, halogens react with nearly all metals and readily form complexes with metal cations, significantly influencing the distribution of metal elements between different phases. Therefore, halogens play a crucial role in the migration, enrichment, and mineralization of key metals in the lithosphere(Weis et al., 2012; Liu et al., 2024).

We report a novel cyano migration-mediated radical-polar crossover process, whereby both the sulfonylcyanation of aliphatic alkenes and the formation of cyclopropanes are concurrently achieved. This transformation yields a diverse array of multisubstituted cyclopropanes under mild photocatalytic conditions. Mechanistic studies elucidate that the reaction proceeds via intramolecular nucleophilic substitution, leading to the formation of the cyclopropane derivatives.

Calcium(Ca2+) is an essential nutrient and a cellular signal in plants. The level of free Ca2+in the apoplast is ～10,000-fold higher than that in the cytoplasm at the resting state. This large Ca2+level gradient across the membrane between the interior and exterior can cause Ca2+overload and toxicity. Plants have evolved mechanisms to export Ca2+out of the cytoplasm or store it in intracellular organelles, such as endoplasmic reticulum（ER）, mitochondria, and vacuole.

Efficient photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate by a molecular noble metal-free system

Reducing CO2to carbon-neutral solar fuels can not only alleviate the energy demand but also mitigate the greenhouse *** present,developing an efficient non-noble metal photo/electrocatalytic system for converting CO2to a specific product beyond CO is still a big ***,we report a new cobalt complex bearing 2,2′-bi-1,10-phenanthroline ligand that can photocatalytically reduce CO2to formate （HCOO-）.Turnover number （TON） for HCOO-up to 677 with 99%selectivity can be achieved using organic dyes purpurin as photosensitizer and 1,3-dimethyl-2-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[d]imidazole （BIH） as sacrificial reductant in a CO2-saturated NMP/TEA （v/v,3:1） solution under visible light *** potential electrolysis at-1.41 V （***/Ag Cl） in the presence of 12 m M Et3NHBF4also produced HCOO-with Faradaic efficiency of 39%.spectroscopic and electrochemical studies suggest that a[CoI-H]species is the key intermediate for CO2reduction.

Merging bound states in the continuum in an open acoustic resonator

Bound states in the continuum （BICs） are perfectly localized resonances despite embedding in the continuum ***,an isolated BIC is very sensitive to the structure ***,we report merging acoustic BICs in a single open resonator,robust against the structure *** find that both symmetry-protected BIC and Friedrich-Wintgen BIC are sustained in a single coupled waveguide-resonator *** varying the height and length of the resonator,these two BICs move toward each other and merge into a single one at a critical *** to an individual BIC,the merged BIC is robust against fabrication error because its Q-factor is proportional to ΔL-4,whereΔL embodies the structure *** essence of this extraordinary phenomenon is perfectly explained by the two-and three-level approximations of the effective nonHermitian ***,we present direct experimental demonstrations of the moving and merging of BICs in a coupled 3D waveguide-resonator,which are evidenced by the vanishing of the linewidth of Fano resonance in the transmission *** results may find exciting applications in designing high-quality acoustic sources,sensors and filters.

The problem on the dynamic response of a rigid embedded foundation in the presence of an underground rigid tunnel and subjected to excitation of incident anti-plane sH waves is *** using the exact analytical solution for the two-dimensional sH-wave propagation in and around both the surface rigid foundation and subsurface rigid tunnel,those aspects of the resulting ground motions that are of special interest and importance for seismic resistant design in earthquake analyses have been *** computed amplitudes of the resulting periodic ground motions display a very complicated wave-interference between the surface foundation and underground tunnel that lead to observed standing wave patterns, together with abrupt changes in the wave amplitudes and large amplification of the incident motions.

Toward understanding the role of genomic repeat elements in neurodegenerative diseases

Neurodegenerative diseases cause great medical and economic burdens for both patients and society;however, the complex molecular mechanisms thereof are not yet well understood. With the development of high-coverage sequencing technology, researchers have started to notice that genomic repeat regions, previously neglected in search of disease culprits, are active contributors to multiple neurodegenerative diseases. In this review, we describe the association between repeat element variants and multiple degenerative diseases through genome-wide association studies and targeted sequencing. We discuss the identification of disease-relevant repeat element variants, further powered by the advancement of long-read sequencing technologies and their related tools, and summarize recent findings in the molecular mechanisms of repeat element variants in brain degeneration, such as those causing transcriptional silencing or RNA-mediated gain of toxic function. Furthermore, we describe how in silico predictions using innovative computational models, such as deep learning language models, could enhance and accelerate our understanding of the functional impact of repeat element variants. Finally, we discuss future directions to advance current findings for a better understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and the clinical applications of genomic repeat elements.

Analysis of Micromechanical Properties at the Interface of Pre-wet sBs Modified Asphalt Mixture Based on Molecular simulation Technology

The pre-wetting of aggregate surface is a means to improve the interface performance of sBs modified asphalt and *** effect of pre-wetting technology on the interaction between sBs modified asphalt and aggregate was analyzed by molecular dynamics *** diffusion coefficient and concentration distribution of sBs modified asphalt on aggregate surface are *** simulation results show that the diffusion coefficient of the aggregate surface of sBs modified asphalt is increased by 47.6%and 70.5%respectively after 110#asphalt and 130#asphalt are *** concentration distribution of sBs modified asphalt on the aggregate surface after pre-wetting is more *** to the results of interface energy calculation,the interface energy of sBs modified bitumen and aggregate can be increased by about 5%after *** to the results of molecular dynamics simulation,the pre-wetting technology can effectively improve the interface workability of sBs modified bitumen and aggregate,so as to improve the interface performance.
