Soil metabolomics is an emerging approach for profiling diverse small molecule metabolites,i.e.,metabolomes,in the *** metabolites,including fatty acids,amino acids,lipids,organic acids,sugars,and volatile organic compounds,often contain essential nutrients such as nitrogen,phosphorus,and sulfur and are directly linked to soil biogeochemical cycles driven by soil *** paper presents an overview of methods for analyzing soil metabolites and the state-of-the-art of soil metabolomics in relation to soil nutrient *** describe important applications of metabolomics in studying soil carbon cycling and sequestration,and the response of soil organic pools to changing environmental *** includes using metabolomics to provide new insights into the close relationships between soil microbiome and metabolome,as well as responses of soil metabolome to plant and environmental stresses such as soil *** also highlight the advantage of using soil metabolomics to study the biogeochemical cycles of elements and suggest that future research needs to better understand factors driving soil function and health.

Cotton(Gossypium)stands as a crucial economic crop,serving as the primary source of naturalfiber for the textile ***,the evolutionary mechanisms driving speciation within the Gossypium genus remain *** this investigation,we leveraged 25 Gossypium genomes and introduced four novel assem-blies—***,***,***,and ***(Gklo)—to delve into the speciation history of this ***,we encountered intricate phylogenies potentially stemming from *** complexities are further compounded by incomplete lineage sorting(ILS),a factor likely to have been instrumental in shaping the swift diversification of *** focus subsequently shifted to the rapid radiation episode during a concise period in Gossypium *** a recently diverged lineage comprising ***,Gklo,and ***,we constructed afinely detailed ILS ***,this analysis revealed the non-random distribution of ILS regions across the reference Gklo ***,we identified signs of robust natural selection influencing specific ILS *** variations per-taining to speciation emerged between the closely related sister species Gklo and ***-mately 15.74%of speciation structural variation genes and 12.04%of speciation-associated genes were esti-mated to intersect with ILS *** enrich our understanding of the role of ILS in adaptive radiation,shedding fresh light on the intricate speciation history of the Gossypium genus.

As government agencies continue to tighten emissions regulations due to the continued increase in greenhouse gas production, automotive industries are seeking to produce increasingly efficient vehicle technology. Hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) have been introduced to mitigate problems while improving fuel economy. HEVs have led to the demand of creating more advanced controls software to consider multiple components for propulsive power in a vehicle. A large section in the software development process is the implementation of an optimal energy management strategy meant to improve the overall fuel efficiency of the vehicle. Optimal strategies can be implemented when driving conditions are known a prior. The Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy (ECMS) is an optimal control strategy that uses an equivalence factor to equate electrical to mechanical power when performing torque split determination between the internal combustion engine and electric motor for propulsive and regenerative torque. This equivalence factor is determined from offline vehicle simulations using a sensitivity analysis to provide optimal fuel economy results while maintaining predetermined high voltage battery state of charge (SOC) constraints. When the control hierarchy is modified or different driving styles are applied, the analysis must be redone to update the equivalence factor. The goal of this work is to implement a fuzzy logic controller that dynamically updates the equivalence factor to improve fuel economy, maintain a strict charge sustaining window of operation for the high voltage battery, and reduce computational time required during algorithm development. The adaptive algorithm is validated against global optimum fuel economy and charge sustaining results from a sensitivity analysis performed for multiple drive cycles. Purpose:To describe the development of a Compendium for estimating the energy costs of activities in adults>60 years(OA Compendium).Methods:Physical activities(PAs)and their metabolic equivalent of task(MET)values were obtained from a systematic search of studies published in 4 sport and exercise databases(PubMed,Embase,SPORTDiscus(EBSCOhost),and Scopus)and a review of articles included in the 2011 Adult Compendium that measured PA in older *** values were computed as the oxygen cost(VO_(2),mL/kg/min)during PA divided by 2.7 m L/kg/min(MET_(60+))to account for the lower resting metabolic rate in older ***:We identified 68 articles and extracted energy expenditure data on 427 *** these,we derived 99 unique Specific Activity codes with corresponding MET_(60+)values for older *** developed a website to present the OA Compendium MET_(60+)values:https://***:The OA Compendium uses data collected from adults>60 years for more accurate estimation of the energy cost of PAs in older *** is an accessible resource that will allow researchers,educators,and practitioners to find MET_(60+)values for older adults for use in PA research and practice.
