Determining the susceptibility of species to changing thermal niches is a major goal for *** this paper we develop an eco-physiological model of extinction risk under climate change premised on behavioral *** method downscales operative environmental temperatures,which restrict hours of activity of lizards,hr,for present-day climate(1975)and future climate scenarios(2070).We apply our model using occurrence records of 20 Phrynocephalus lizards(or taxa in species complexes)drawn from literature and museum *** analysis is phylogenetically informed,because some clades may be more sensitive to rising *** limits for computed hr predict local extirpations among Phrynocephalus lizards at continental scales and delineate upper boundaries of thermal niches as defined by Extreme Value *** the 8.5 Representative Concentration Pathway scenario,we predict extirpation of 64%of local populations by 2070 across 20 Phrynocephalus species,and 12 are at high risk of total extinction due to thermal limits being *** tandem with global strategies of lower CO_(2) emissions,we propose regional strategies for establishing new national parks to protect extinction-prone taxa by preserving high-elevation climate refugia within existing sites of species *** propose that evolved acclimatization–maternal plasticity–may ameliorate risk,but is poorly *** studies revealed that adaptive maternal plasticity by thermoregulating gravid females alter progeny thermal preferences by±1℃.We describe plasticity studies for extinction-prone species that could assess whether they might be buffered from climate warming–a *** discuss an epigenetic framework for studying such maternal-effect evolution.

流浪猫作为边缘动物活跃于人类的生存空间之中,数智技术的发展使人类围绕流浪猫所展开的混合性空间交互具有特殊的文化生产与人际互动意义。文章运用技术漫游、深度访谈等方法,结合媒介地理学中的地理媒介理论,对深度媒介化社会中的“助猫实践”展开研究,主要考察助猫者如何建构媒介化助猫空间、以何种方式与流浪猫产生空间性交互、助猫空间中存在何种媒介化期待与解释、产生了哪些人际交往或矛盾,又会如何影响地点的形塑与认知。研究发现,人与媒介在动态交互中建构出突破虚实维度的助猫空间,人的“数字化漫游”、流浪猫的“超可见性”在其中上演;基于所建构的助猫空间,猫与猫屋的流动(转移、搬迁、拆除)伴随着人与空间的对话、协商与斗争,具有丰富的空间生产意义;助猫者凭借数字媒介在具有混合性质的助猫空间中与不同行动方相遇,同一或对立的关系在此过程中生成,编谱着地方性的记忆情结,折射出存在于社会的现实问题,乃至不同物种之间的共生问题。在此基础上,从理论层面对过往媒介地理学研究进行反思,细分出“技术型地理媒介”与“生命型地理媒介”,以拓展地理媒介的研究版图,并勾勒出人与流浪猫共生空间建构的机制。

More than 170 years after causing the potato famine in Ireland,late blight is still considered one of the most devastating crop *** potato breeding efforts depend on natural sources of resistance to protect crops from the rapidly evolving late blight pathogen,Phytophthora *** have identified and mapped a novel broad-spectrum disease resistance gene effective against *** from the wild,diploid potato species Solanum *** resistance gene enrichment sequencing(dRenSeq)was used to confirm the uniqueness of the identified *** and GenSeq-based mapping of the resistance,referred to as Rpi-blb4,alongside recombinant screening,positioned the locus responsible for the resistance to potato chromosome *** interval spans approximately 2.3 Mb and corresponds to the DM reference genome positions of 11.25 and 13.56 Mb.

The Upriver Reach of a Delta Town： Jiujiang Migrants in the West River basin, Sixteenth--Nineteenth Centuries

This article situates the Pearl River delta market town of Jiujiang within a system of market towns and cities along the West River and its tributaries in southern China. Exploring the history of this town as an emigrant community, this article follows the upstream movement of officials, civil service examinees, merchants, and permanent settlers along the West River basin between the sixteenth century and the nineteenth century. The trajectory of migration from this market town was shaped by the geographical factors of the West River system. At the same time, migration, which was related both to strategies that Jiujiang families embraced for socioeconomic advancement and to policies that the Ming and Qing states adopted for controlling the southwestern frontier, played an important role in the historical construction of a unified region linked by economic ties and personal networks.

Unsupervised learning of load signatures to estimate energy-related building features using surrogate modelling techniques

Characterization of an existing building’s energy-related features is critical to inform maintenance and retrofit ***,existing field-scale characterization methods tend to be labour intensive,invasive,and require high fidelity longitudinal data gathered through tightly regulated *** highlights the need for a low cost,scalable,and efficient screening *** paper puts forward a surrogate model-based approach to rapidly estimate energy-related building *** this end,EnergyPlus models for 12 midrise office archetypes,all with a rectangular footprint,are *** thousand variants of each archetype are generated by altering envelope,causal heat gain,and heating,ventilation,and air conditioning operation features.A unique load signature is derived for each variant’s heating and cooling energy *** parameters of the load signatures are clustered,then each cluster is associated with a set of plausible energy-related *** accuracy of the results was evaluated using five test buildings not seen by the *** method could effectively identify building features with reasonable accuracy and no significant degradation in performance across all 12 archetypes.

A Generic Model to Estimate Wheat LAI over Growing Season Regardless of the Soil-Type background

It is valuable to develop a generic model that can accurately estimate the leaf area index(LAI)of wheat from unmanned aerial vehicle-based multispectral data for diverse soil backgrounds without any ground *** achieve this objective,2 strategies were investigated to improve our existing random forest regression(RFR)model,which was trained with simulations from a radiative transfer model(PROSAIL).The 2 strategies consisted of(a)broadening the reflectance domain of soil background to generate training data and(b)finding an appropriate set of indicators(band reflectance and/or vegetation indices)as inputs of the RFR *** RFR models were tested in diverse soils representing varying soil types in *** analysis indicated that adopting both strategies resulted in a generic model that can provide accurate estimation for wheat LAI and is resistant to changes in soil *** validation on 2 years of field trials,this model achieved high prediction accuracy for LAI over the entire crop cycle(LAI up to 7 m^(2)m^(−2))(root mean square error(RMSE):0.23 to 0.89 m^(2)m^(−2)),including for sparse canopy(LAI less than 0.3 m^(2)m^(−2))grown on different soil types(RMSE:0.02 to 0.25 m^(2)m^(−2)).The model reliably captured the seasonal pattern of LAI dynamics for different treatments in terms of genotypes,plant densities,and water–nitrogen managements(correlation coefficient:0.82 to 0.98).With appropriate adaptations,this framework can be adjusted to any type of sensors to estimate various traits for various species(including but not limited to LAI of wheat)in associated disciplines,e.g.,crop breeding,precision agriculture,etc.

Radiological imaging has a critical role in the diagnosis of sarcomas and in evaluating therapy response *** current gold standard for response assessment in solid tumors is the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors,which evaluates changes in tumor size as a surrogate endpoint for therapeutic ***,tumors may undergo necrosis,changes in vascularization or become cystic in response to therapy,with no significant volume changes;thus,size assessments alone may not be *** morphological changes may give rise to radiographic phenotypes that are not easily detected by human ***,recent advances in high-performance computing and machine learning algorithms have enabled deep analysis of radiological images to extract features that can provide richer information about intensity,shape,size or volume,and texture of tumor *** is growing evidence to suggest that these image-derived or“radiomic features”are sensitive to biological processes such as necrosis and glucose ***,radiomics could prove to be a critical tool for assessing treatment response and may present an integral complement to existing response criteria,opening new avenues for patient assessment in sarcoma trials.
