Robotic surgery and liver transplantation:A single-center experience of 501 robotic donor hepatectomies

Background:Over the past two decades robotic surgery has been introduced to many areas including liver *** liver surgery is an alternative minimally invasive ***,moving on to the complexity of living donor hepatectomies,the advantages of robotic versus laparoscopic approach have convinced us to establish the robotic platform as a standard for living donor ***:From November 2018 to January 2022,501 fully robotic donor hepatectomies,including 177 left lateral donor lobes,112 full left lobes and 212 full right lobes were *** were donated to 296 adult recipients and 205 pediatric *** age,sex,body weight,body mass index(BMI),graft weight,graft to body weight ratio(GBWR),operative time,blood loss,first warm ischemic time,pain score,length of intensive care unit(ICU)stay and hospital stay,and complications were retrospectively analyzed based on a prospectively kept *** were evaluated for graft and patient survival,age,sex,BMI,body weight,model of end-stage liver disease score,blood loss,transfusions,operative time,cold ischemic time,length of hospital stay and ***:There was no donor *** cases needed to be converted to open *** median blood loss was 60 mL(range 20-800),median donor operative time was 6.77 h(range 2.93-11.53),median length of hospital stay was 4 days(range 2-22).Complication rate in donors classified following ClavienDindo was 6.4%(n=32)with one grade Ⅲ ***-year actual recipient overall survival was 91.4%;87.5% for adult recipients and 97.1% for pediatric ***-year actual graft overall survival was 90.6%;87.5% for adult recipients and 95.1% for pediatric ***-hospital mortality was 6%,9.1%(27/296)for adult recipients and 1.4%(3/205)for pediatric *** recipients’morbidity was 19.8%(n=99).Twenty-eight recipients(5.6%)had biliary and 22(4.4%)vascular ***(12.0%)recipients needed to

Multicellular organisms rely on the movement of signaling molecules across cells,tissues,and organs to communicate among distal *** plants,localized leaf damage activates jasmonic acid(JA)-dependent transcriptional reprogramming in both harmed and unharmed *** it has been indicated that JA species can translocate from damaged into distal sites,the identity of the mobile compound(s),the tissues through which they translocate,and the effect of their relocation remain ***,we found that following shoot wounding,the relocation of endogenous jasmonates through the phloem is essential to initiate JA signaling and stunt growth in unharmed roots of Arabidopsis *** employing grafting experiments and hormone profiling,we uncovered that the hormone precursor cis-12-oxo-phytodienoic acid(OPDA)and its derivatives,but not the bioactive JA-Ile conjugate,translocate from wounded shoots into undamaged *** root relocation,the mobile precursors cooperatively regulated JA responses through their conversion into JA-Ile and JA signaling ***,our findings demonstrate the existence of long-distance translocation of endogenous OPDA and its derivatives,which serve as mobile molecules to coordinate shoot-to-root responses,and highlight the importance of a controlled redistribution of hormone precursors among organs during plant stress acclimation.

Identify Plant Drought Stress by 3D-Based Image

Plants respond to drought stress with different physical manners, such as morphology and color of leaves. Thus, plants can be considered as a sort of living-sensors for monitoring dynamic of soil water content or the stored water in plant body. Because of difficulty to identify the early wilting symptom of plants from the results in 2D （two-dimension） space, this paper presented a preliminary study with 3D （three-dimension）-based image, in which a laser scanner was used for achieving the morphological information of zucchini （Cucurbita pepo） leaves. Moreover, a leaf wilting index （DLWIF） was defined by fractal dimension. The experiment consisted of phase-1 for observing the temporal variation of DLWIF and phase-2 for the validation of this index. During the experiment, air temperature, luminous intensity, and volumetric soil water contents （VSWC） were simultaneously recorded over time. The results of both phases fitted the bisector （line： 1：1） with R2=0.903 and REMS=0.155. More significantly, the influence of VSWC with three levels （0.22, 0.30, and 0.36 cm3 cm-3） on the response of plant samples to drought stress was observed from separated traces of DLWIF. In brief, two conclusions have been made：（i） the laser scanner is an effective tool for the non-contact detection of morphological wilting of plants, and （ii） defined DLWIF can be a promising indicator for a category of plants like zucchini.

The heme-Binding Protein SOUL3 of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii Influences Size and Position of the Eyespot

The flagellated green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii has a primitive visual system, the eyespot. It is situated at the cells equator and allows the cell to phototax. In a previous proteomic analysis of the eyespot, the SOUL3 protein was identified among 202 proteins. here, we investigate the properties and functions of SOUL3. heterologously expressed SOUL3 is able to bind specifically to hemin. In C. reinhardtii, SOUL3 is expressed at a constant level over the diurnal cycle, but forms protein complexes that differ in size during day and night phases. SOUL3 is primarily localized in the eyespot and it is situated in the pigment globule layer thereof. This is in contrast to the channelrhodopsin photoreceptors, which are localized in the plasma membrane region of the eyespot. Knockdown lines with a significantly reduced SOUL3 level are characterized by mislocalized eyespots, a decreased eyespot size, and alterations in phototactic behavior. Mislocalizations were either anterior or posterior and did not affect association with acetylated microtubules of the daughter four-membered rootlet. Our data suggest that SOUL3 is involved in the organization and placement of the eyespot within the cell.

The Influence of Edge Energy on Step Flow Instability for Crystals with Bravais Versus Non-Bravais Lattice Structures

We examine the meandering instability for prismatic lattices formed from triangles,squares and hexagons using a nearest neighbor kinetic Monte Carlo *** the first two cases,which are Bravais lattices,we find that facets with the orientation favored in the equilibrium shape of isolated islands are most prone to this instability,while the analogous facet for the hexagonal lattice is the least *** argue that this is due to a significant difference in the reconstructed/equilibrium versus the non-reconstructed edge energy for non-Bravais ***/edge energy is typically modeled as a single-valued function of *** put forward a simple geometric argument that suggests this picture is inadequate for crystals with a non-Bravais lattice *** the case of a hexagonally structured lattice,our arguments indicate that the non-reconstructed edge energy can be viewed as both discontinuous and multi-valued for a subset of orientations that are commensurate with the crystal *** support these conclusions with density functional theory calculations that also reveal multivalued surface energies for the set of singular orientations.

Cytokinins are N^6-substituted adenine derivatives that are involved in the regulation of numerous aspects of plant growth and development. These include the control of cell division, leaf senescence, apical dominance, sink^source relationship, vascular and embryonic development, and apical meristem activity （Kieber and Schaller, 2014）. An Improved Frequency Domain Technique for Determining Soil Water Content

For many years a soil water content sensor with low cost, reliability and sufficient accuracy has been desirable. Thus, an improved measurement method based on the frequency domain (FD) principle for determining soil water content was considered. Unlike other measurement principles, a new measurable index, η, which was independent of the output impedance and the amplitude of the oscillator while relying on the electrical impedance of a multi-pin probe, was pro- posed. Moreover, a model for processing the impedance of the multi-pin soil probe was developed, and several important electrical parameters for establishing their operating ranges applicable to this probe were evaluated. In order to confirm the theoretical analysis, an experiment was conducted with a 4-pin probe. Using the developed model, the relationship between the proposed index η and soil volumetric water content was shown to be linear (R2 = 0.9921). Thus, as the measurable index, η seemed satisfactory.

Dysregulated immunity in PID patients with low GARP expression on Tregs due to mutations in LRRC32

Genetics of hepatocellular carcinoma

The completely assembled human genome has made it possible for modern medicine to step into an era rich in genetic information and high-throughput genomic analysis. These novel and readily available genetic resources and analytical tools may be the key to unravel the molecular basis of hepatocellular carcinoma (hCC). Moreover, since an efficient treatment for this disease is lacking, further understanding of the genetic background of hCC will be crucial in order to develop new therapies aimed at selected targets. We report on the current status and recent developments in hCC genetics. Special emphasis is given to the genetics and regulation of major signalling pathways involved in hCC such as p53, Wnt- signalling, TGFβ, Ras, and Rb pathways. Furthermore, we describe the influence of chromosomal aberrations as well as of DNA methylation. Finally, we report on the rapidly developing field of genomic expression profiling in hCC, mainly by microarray analysis.
