The relationship between fluid density and saturation and sonic wave velocity of rock samples taken from the WXS Depression in the South china Sea was studied by an oil-water replacement experiment under simulated in-situ temperature and pressure *** kinds of low-density oils（0.691 and 0.749 g/cm^3. and two kinds of high-density oils（0.83. and 0.873.g/cm^3. were used to saturate the rock samples at different oil-saturation states,and the saturated P- and S-wave velocities were *** Gassmann＇s equation,the theoretical P- and S-wave velocities were also calculated by the fluid replacement *** the comparison of the measured values and the theoretical values, this study comes to the following conclusions.（1） With the increase of oil saturation and the decrease of water saturation,the P-wave velocity of rock samples saturated by low-density oil increases and the changing rule is in accord with the effective fluid theory;the P-wave velocity of rock samples saturated by high-density oil decreases and the changing rule goes against the theory.（2） With the increase of oil density（namely 0.691→0.749→0.83.→0.873.g/cm^3. when oil saturation is unchanged,P-wave velocity increases gradually.（3. The S-wave velocity is always stable and is not affected by the change of oil density and *** results can be used to constrain pre-stack seismic inversion,and the variation rule of sonic wave velocity is valuable for hydrocarbon identification in the study area.

Aiming at two intense shock events on October 28 and 29, 2003. this paper presents a two-step method, which combines synoptic analysis of space weather ——“observing” and quantitative prediction ——“palpating”, and then uses it to test predictions. In the first step of “observing”, on the basis of observations of the solar source surface magnetic field, interplanetary scintillation (IPS) and ACE spacecraft, we find that the propagation of the shocks is asymmetric relative to the normal direction of their solar sources, and the earth is located near the direction of the fastest speed and the greatest energy of the shocks. As the two fast ejection shock events, the fast explosion of coronal mass of the extremely high temperature, the strong magnetic field, and the high speed background solar wind are also helpful to their rapid propagation. In the second step of “palpating”, we adopt a new membership function of the fast shock events for the ISF method. The predicted results show that for the onset time of the geomagnetic disturbance, the relative errors between the observational and the predicted results are 1.8% and 6.7%; and for the magnetic disturbance magnitude, the relative errors are 4.1% and 3.1%, re- spectively. Furthermore, the comparison among the predicted results of our two-step method with those of five other prevailing methods shows that the two-step method is advantageous. The results tell us that understanding the physical features of shock propagation thoroughly is of great importance in improving the prediction precision.

＜正＞During the period from July to October in 2004, the orbit apogee of Double Star TC-1 of 13.e located in the magnetotail, which made it possible to survey some basic features of substorm processes in the magnetotail. In the present paper we make a case study of substorm occurring on Sep. 17, 2004. At about 0117 UT FUV WIC on board IMAGE observed an aurora breakup. Almost at the same time the LANL-01A and 90-085 at the geosynchronous altitude detected dispersionless injection of energetic electrons. About 2-3.minutes later a weak dipolarization was seen by NOAA geosynchronous satellite GOES 12. Interestingly, ten minutes before substorm onset, Cluster observed an earthward flow at （-15.00,2.05,3.50） Re（GSM）. At 0116 UT （one min before onset） TC-1 saw a beginning of magnetic flux pile-up at its position （-10.26, -1.3., 1.01） REGSM, characterized by an increasing of Bz component with almost constant Bx and thermal pressure. At about 0126 UT （9 minutes after onset） TC-1 observed a local dipolarization of the magnetic field which was characterized by a rapid decrease of Bx component and a sharp jump in the thermal pressure, together with a continuous increase of Bz. In the literature, some authors treated the flux pile-up and dipolarization in the tail as a single process named "dipolarization". However, as TC-1 measurements show in this event, flux pile-up and dipolarization are characterized by completely different signatures. The same feature holds for many other events. Detailed inspections of TC-1 data in this event show that the beginning of flux pile-up was about 10 minutes preceding the dipolarization. Besides, the latter lasted only for about two minutes, whereas the former kept for almost one hour. All these aforementioned differences imply that flux pile-up and dipolarization are two different dynamical processes. Nevertheless, further studies indicate that they are "cause-effect" related: The magnetic flux pileup may lead the field lines with "good" curvatu

The microscopic mechanism of four experimentally observed bands in 172Tm is investigated using the particle-number conserving method of the cranked shell model with monopole and quadrupole paring *** experimental results,including the moments of inertia and angular momentum alignments of four bands in 172Tm are reproduced well by the particle-number conserving *** ω variation of the occupation probability of each cranked orbital and the contribution to moment of inertia from each cranked orbital are *** unobserved low-lying bands of 2-quansiparticles in 172Tm are predicted.

Wide-open V-shaped conjugate strike-slip faults in Asia are typically related to extrusion ***,the tectonic model based on the slip-line theory of plasticity has some critical problems associated with *** conjugate sets of slip-lines in plane deformation,according to the theory of plasticity should be normal to each another but,in reality,the angles between the conjugate strike-slip faults,which are regarded as slip-lines in extrusion tectonics in the eastern Mediterranean,Tibet-middle Asia,china and the Indochina Peninsular regions,are always more than 90°(on average～110°) in the direction of contraction. Another problem is that the slip-line theory fails to explain how,in some cases,e.g.,in the Anatolian area in the eastern Mediterranean,the extrusion rate is much higher than the indent *** two major problems are easy to solve in terms of the Maximum-Effective-Moment(MEM) Criterion that predicts that orientations of the shear zones are theoretically at an angle of 54.7°and practically at angles of 55°±10°with theσ- or contractional *** orientations of the strike-slip faults that accommodate extrusion tectonics are,therefore, fundamentally controlled by the MEM *** extrusion is along the MEM-orientations,the extruding rate is normally higher than the indenting rate.

This paper focuses on interpreting the different spatial relationships between NDVI and Ts, a triangular or a trapezoid, and on analyzing transformation conditions, the physical and ecological meanings of the vegetation index-surface temperature space as well. Further, we use the Tempera-ture-Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI) to explain the existent meaning of a triangular space after NDVI reaches its saturated state by employing the relationships between NDVI, LAI and evapotranspiration. The specific relations between NDVI and Ts are useful for describing, validating and updating land surface models.

It is found from preliminary studies that previous basin-range models have difficulties in explaining the formation of theMesozoic North-china basin-range system. This work suggests a new model-" tectonic thermal erosion" model, which considers the North china basin of Late Mesozoic and its peripheral ranges as a unified system, identifies relationship between upwelling and lateral spreading of the asthenolith with horizontal rnovement and deformation of the upper crust in the system, clarifies the effects of underplat-ing erosion on the crustal evolution, and tries to establish an earth-dynamic modei of the North china Mesozoic basin-range supported by numerical simulation.
