Expression Grade Sirtuin-1 （SIRT-1） in Tumor Tissue in Women with Breast Cancer： A New Biomarker Prognosis？

Breast cancer is a complex and heterogeneous disease with different clinical outcomes. The investigations of new biomolecular markers are essential to know the prognosis and improve the clinical management of patients. The SIRT-1 （sirtuin- 1） is a histone deacetylase implicated in various epigenetic critical functions for the cells and the maintenance of genomic stability. The objective of this study is to investigate the grade of expression of the SIRT-I （sirtuin-1） and the prognostic value in overall survival of women with breast cancer. Retrospective cohort of 457 women with breast cancer has been researched, undergoing treatment in Erechim-RS from 2003 to 2013 and followed until July 2015. The degree of SIRT-1 expression was investigated by immunohistochemistry in 123 patients （26.9%） of the cohort. The OS （overall survival） from specific disease and risk of death from breast cancer were estimated by Kaplan-Meier and Cox＇s proportional risks. The median age of 57.4 years cohort with OS of 79.6% in 5 years and 69.1% at 10 years, with follow-up time of 61.9 months are revealed in this work. The SIRT-1 overexpression was found in 6.5% of cases and characterized a subgroup of women with shorter survival and increased risk of death from breast cancer （HR = 2.66; 95% CI 1.03 to 6.86; p = 0.043） and adjusted by age （HR = 2.86; 95% CI 1.11 to 7.38; p = 0.030）, histology （HR = 2.79; 95% CI 1.07 to 7.28; p = 0.036）, lymph nodes （HR = 2.73; 95% CI 1.06 to 7.04; p = 0.037）, Her-2 （HR = 2.82; 95% CI 1.07 to 7.44; p = 0.036）; chemotherapy （HR = 2.90; 95% CI 1.11 to 7.60; p = 0.030） and radiotherapy （HR = 2.71; 95% CI 1.05 to 7.01; p = 0.040）. In regressive multivariate models adjusted for age, status of axillary lymph nodes, Her-2 expression and proliferation index （Ki-67）, the grade of expression of the SIRT-1 maintained association with poor prognosis. Africa is the cradle of all human beings, and although it has been the focus of a number of genetic studies, there are many questions that remain unresolved. We have performed one of the largest and most comprehensive meta-analyses of mitochondrial DNA （mtDNA） lineages carried out in the African continent to date. We generated high-throughput mtDNA single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） data （230 SNPs） from 2024 Africans, where more than 500 of them were additionally genotyped for the control region. These data were analyzed together with over 12,700 control region profiles collected from the literature, representing more than 300 population samples from Africa. Insights into the African homeland of humans are discussed. Phylogeographic patterns for the African continent are shown at a high phylogeographic resolution as well as at the population and regional levels. The deepest branch of the mtDNA tree, haplogroup L0, shows the highest sub-haplogroup diversity in Southeast and East Africa, suggesting this region as the homeland for modem humans. Several demographic estimates point to the coast as a facilitator of human migration in Africa, but the data indicate complex patterns, perhaps mirroring the effect of recent continental-scaled demographic events in re-shaping African mtDNA variability.

Deterioration of air quality due to the increase in atmospheric emissions from biomass burning(BB)is one of the major environmental problems *** this study,we estimated the contributions of BB to PM_(2.5) concentrations in the municipalities of Soledad and Malambo located in the Colombian *** evaluation period ranged from February 24 to March 30,2018,a period with a high number of BB events recorded in the surroundings of the evaluated *** contribution of BB to the two sampling sites was estimated using the Hybrid Single-Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory(HYSPLIT)dispersion model with forwarding trajectories from each of the burning points identified by satellite images(n=1089).The PM_(2.5) emissions were determined using the fire radiative power(FRP),obtained by remote-sensing data,and corresponded to the radiant energy released per time unit by burning *** average PM_(2.5) concentrations during the evaluation period were 19.91μg/m^(3) for Soledad and 22.44μg/m^(3) for *** average contribution of BB to these municipalities was 22.8%and 28.8%,*** methodology used in this study allowed to estimate the contribution of this important source without knowledge of a previous tracer of BB,thereby increasing the use of the proposed procedure *** information would enable the implementation of effective mitigation,thereby diminishing the adverse impact of PM_(2.5) on the health of the population.

Trapelioid fungi constitute a widespread group of mostly crust-forming lichen mycobionts that are key to understanding the early evolutionary splits in the Ostropomycetidae,the second-most species-rich subclass of lichenized *** uncertain phylogenetic resolution of the approximately 170 species referred to this group contributes to a poorly resolved backbone for the entire *** on a data set including 657 newly generated sequences from four ribosomal and four protein-coding gene loci,we tested a series of a priori and new evolutionary hypotheses regarding the relationships of trapelioid clades within *** found strong support for a monophyletic group of nine core trapelioid genera but no statistical support to reject the long-standing hypothesis that trapelioid genera are sister to Baeomycetaceae or ***,we can reject a sister group relationship to Ostropales with high *** data also shed light on several longstanding questions,recovering Anamylopsoraceae nested within Baeomycetaceae,elucidating two major monophyletic groups within trapelioids(recognized here as Trapeliaceae and Xylographaceae),and rejecting the monophyly of the genus *** transfer eleven species of the latter genus to Lambiella and describe the genus Parainoa to accommodate a previously misunderstood species of *** phylogenetic studies in Ostropomycetidae have invoked Bdivergence order^for drawing taxonomic conclusions on higher level *** data show that if backbone support is lacking,contrasting solutions may be recovered with different or added *** accordingly urge caution in concluding evolutionary relationships from unresolved phylogenies.

Relationship of preoperative androgen levels and metabolic syndrome with quality of life and erectile function in patients who are to undergo radical prostatectomy

This study aims to investigate whether clinical and biological preoperative characteristics of patients who were to undergo radical prostatectomy were associated with impairment in patient-reported quality of life(QoL)and erectile dysfunction immediately before *** evaluated patient-reported outcomes among 1019 patients(out of 1343)of the AndroCan study,willing to score the Aging Male Symptom(AMS)and the International Index of Erectile Function 5-item(IIEF-5)*** linear regression and robust multiple regression were used to ascertain the relationship between demographic,clinical,and hormonal parameters and global AMS or IIEF-5 *** a result,most patients(85.1%)of the Androcan cohort agreed to complete *** higher IIEF-5 global scores were found in non-Caucasian and obese patients,with larger waist circumference,metabolic syndrome,diabetes mellitus,cardiovascular disease,hypertension,high blood sugar,concomitant medications,and hypogonadism,while the AMS global score was significantly higher in patients with larger waist circumference,metabolic syndrome,high blood pressure,raised glycemia,and concomitant *** IIEF-5 global score was correlated to age,dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA),fat mass percentage,and androstenediol(D5).The AMS global score was significantly correlated to DHEA,D5,and DHEA ***,the multivariate models showed that QoL and erectile function were significantly affected,before surgery,by symptoms and signs that are usually considered as pertaining to the metabolic syndrome,while sexual hormones are essentially correlated to erectile dysfunction.
